WHAT ARE THIS NEXT LEVEL VISUALS? ★ FFXIV 1st Playthrough EP33

Quazii tries Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) for the first time in 2021 (Episode 33). Is it better than World of Warcraft (WoW)?

  1. I've come to learn that PS3 support was disabled for Stormblood and onwards – and my word, when the shackles come off, the development team delivers. The new zones look gorgeous! Happy Monday all, have a great week ahead!

  2. Stormblood's story is probably the most divisive part of FFXIV due to the quality of Heavensward and Shadowbringers. Lyse herself is also pretty divisive owing to her writing. Personally, I did like it. It was very different but it felt like a real adventure. Though I will say the Doma part of the story does suffer pacing issues. And while she isn't my favourite character, I really liked Lyse's wholesome journey through this expansion, her struggles during and after before really coming into who she is now. Kinda hope she's used more in Endwalker.

All and all, I am one of the people who like's this expansion for what it is and enjoyed the journey.

  3. We are now somewhat at around the same MSQs in Stormblood and just hit lvl 71. I do agree that their are seemingly more details in the game graphics in Stormblood and in the textures. It feels very different to Heavensward and seemingly more political with the factions. You get far more EXP per MSQs in Stormblood. I think it will be spoiler territory for me as of next video or especially the next one after as my gaming slows during the work week. Good journey though my friend.

  4. You should see if you can find pictures or videos of what people called Raubahn Extreme from the SB launch. It shows how the community can work together and let everyone have a chance to finish the quest.

  5. Maybe I'm cherry picking or delusional, but it does seem when you have cutscene closeups of people in SB and later gear, there's less pixelization of the textures (that is, the textures are higher rez and scale better). I see this more obviously in my own gear, if I happen to have lower iLvl gear (glamoured) mixed in with higher iLvl, the two are contrasted in a cutscene where it's a closeup. Or maybe I'm imagining it. I dunno.

  6. Awesome video as always ! 🙂
If I can point out one thing I would say that cutting out the first dialogue of zenos was a mistake in the editing. His first words really set up his cold blooded personality ! ^^

  7. Stormblood is all fetch quests. I’d warn for spoilers but I don’t think it is. It’s constant “let’s build their trust” quests. Distracted from the story for me.

  8. Yeah that Garlemald theme is something. This is when they really started to take the racial superiority of the Garleans, local savages of Gyr Abania, and assimilation of cultural structures, pretty strongly. One that harkens back to a certain period of time between 1939 to 1945, even down to the analogue of the "eagle" imagery inside the castle. It's all very… Reich-y… of the third kind.

  9. Fun fact, that anthem that played uses the music of the actual Gyr Abania anthem… but Garlemald rewrote all the lyrics to make it about themselves and called it "the territorial anthem of Gyr Abania" instead. Garlemald ruins everything again. The melody is also the background music in Rhalgr's Reach!

  10. Stormblood is the expansion I have a mixed feeling. While some parts of MSQ was quite a drag, I really appreciate some of side quests which add so many colourful cultures and ideas of npcs. My favourite is Azim Steppe where the diversity of cultures is so much that you either laugh or facepalm (in a good way).

Still, I still give SB solid 8/10. Maybe it’s also because I like the history during world wars etc., so some npcs’ thinking and actions can be understood to a certain extant.

  11. Personally when I got to the cutscene at 8:52, I couldn't see anything at all, because the weather was fog at that time. So when my Lyse went "You're wondering about the tower to the south?"
I was like "Huh? What tower? I can't even see past the river" xD
