We Need To Talk About The FFXIV Housing System…

The Final Fantasy 14 Housing System is BROKEN! Even after Square Enix implemented the house lottery system, there are still big fundamental problems with the housing system in this game: Why can 1 person buy an entire ward? Why are there so many FC houses and so few player houses? In this video Xeno rants about the current FFXIV housing dilemma and proposes some solutions in order to fix this problem.

  1. I don't understand why the one guy owning one ward thing was given a pass.
Ungramax abusers didn't have their kills "grandfathered" in after it was acknowledged as haram.
They have zero problems upsetting a minority for the health of the game (DSR Delays).
Why is this issue the one they break their principals on?

  2. 100% in agreement with housing be one per account. If you want another house, pay another sub and boost another character. At least that way they are at paying as another person.

  3. They won't fix it. We'll get an excuse about how the "database/code/engine can't handle it" just like we got for the garbage glamour system and just like we're getting now for hair on hrothgar characters. And like glamour 8 years will pass without them doing anything to fix the "database" and we'll all just get used to the idiocy and stop complaining about it.

  4. This housing system is completely moronic and needs to be redone. I am paying the ability to enjoy the game in its full capacity and they not only limit housing so I never get a true opportunity to enjoy housing but then we have all of what you mention in the video. How does this make sense? I had to stop paying my sub once it dawned on me after this latest housing debacle that I am paying for full access to a game…that I do not have full access to. Done.

  5. 1) Correct take, both in game and IRL.
    2) Mao and Marx would be proud.
    3) You gotta make an alternate take of this video with the anthem of the USSR playing in the background.

  6. I think the "Winner 0" bug is what's causing the majority of fc plots to be empty. First off; you have far more participation per plot for private housing in wards 19-24 compared to the FC wards. The higher amount of participants the lower the chance is for Zero to get ticked. In comparison to the major blunder of having 18 dedicated FC wards where one to maybe up to three fc's are bidding, the probability to hit 0 is larger.

That all being said; I know for a fact that a bunch of the small houses had zero participants, and There are far more players wanting a private house than there will ever be FC's in the game.

  7. It’s a combination of things on Gilgamesh why the FC wards aren’t occupied. I ran around looking at all the Medium/Larges, and there is a huge number of Mediums and a much smaller number of Larges unclaimed due to either the bug, people winning a location they wanted, or people not claiming plots, I’m banking on the latter being in the vast minority. So that said, counting the number that wasn’t bid on, there are 56 plots free out of 196 mediums. Most people that didn’t have larges rolled for larges, so that didn’t help, and this freezes makes it seem like there’s less FCs rolling for houses than the reality. If they hadn’t frozen everything within the first two to three weeks, FC wards would have been full.

Also fuck the person owning soooo many houses.

  8. That one person owning all those houses has been an issue for a long time. They got them back in ARR when their server was practically empty, and while it does suck I can’t really blame them for wanting to hold onto them. They chose that empty server and earned all the gil before people started moving over for the housing space and that was their reward.

  9. I think the reason there's so much FC housing compared to personal housing is precisely because there's not enough housing available for every person to own their own house, so by having more FC housing you kind of skirt around that issue by having a higher density of players that can have a house per plot via apartments in FC houses. I'm not saying it's a good solution, just my thought on what they were probably thinking

  10. The problem with hoarding FC plots is that the system cant deny any FC member from purchasing a house for their FC, nor can a player be forced to be part of one FC per account, the 30 days rule is a nice band aid but still can find a loophole. As for the large amount of wards for FCs only over those for solo is kind of a mixed response to the "large and med plots should be for FC only cuz they will actually use it" crybabies, without fucking the people that want larges for themselves over, the results can be seen.

  11. Funny how this kind of situation is actually happening in some Asia countries. God dam stupid landlord owning multiple properties and are renting out to milk money so they can buy more properties.

  12. they need to put system in so there are no limitations. Instanced housing. 1 /character is better not account… BUT an entire ward is insane. We have been dealing with the broken system since 2014. Its old news , many many have already complained and asked for change, they do whatever they choose like the dev in wow. stubborn and do NOT listen to anyone. We said all this stuff 1000s of times

  14. Housing was originally FC only in 2.1, it lasted almost a year. That person has multiple subs and that gets muddy too because they don’t have a policy for it.

  15. The thing is that most FC went for large or medium there was some houses with more than 30 and even 50 entries on them, a lot of these people once they lose the lottery will try again on smaller houses.

  16. The one person owning an entire ward makes me wonder how that even happens with everyone bidding on those – the odds would have to be inconceivably low that all would be won by a single bidder. Like, it's not even their FC owning every house in the ward, it's that person in an FC specifically winning every bid. I get what Xeno means about some of those being grandfathered in, but when it's literally every house it makes me suspect tom foolery akin to the auto-clickers of past housing (but I guess in this case it would be auto-bidding programs and maybe, allegedly hacked gil).

  17. This is why rules need to be made for extreme cases of ***hole behavior first and foremost. Most people have enough shame to know not to do this because it tares away at one of the core foundations of what makes FF14 fun, that allot of people play it. This is like Eric Catman's theme park that only he could play in. It's a waste of space for a vain, self-indulgent gesture that precisely 0 people will bother to acknowledge. It only takes one ***hole to ruin the mood of something.
