The Plenty is often cited as the fated doom of the Ancients, but how likely was that outcome and how does it compare to the other Dead Ends? Were the Ancients similar enough to the Nibirun for it to have been an immediate concern?

In a way it makes sense that Venat was shaken to her core by hearing about The Plenty. She already believed her own personal philosophy and life were worth more than all of her brethren's, since she refused to return to the star when her time as Azem was over.
Because as we see, the Ancients could functionally become immortal or close enough to it, if they were willing to body hop or become something like a Hemitheos.
So in a world where the Ancients don't respect the cycle of life, like Venat, then they may well end up similar to The Plenty.
The guaranteed end of the universe is a good point. The argument that Venat wanted to stop the end of all life in the universe falls flat since…all life is still gonna end in the universe. (This is ignoring the infinite possibilities of time travel. I don't expect the game to ever reach a point where an entire society time travels back to an earlier time in the universe in order to not reach the end.)
