Tutorial/Guide – How To Setup ACT Damage Meter & Cactbot for FFXIV

Tutorial on how to setup ACT (AdvancedCombat Tracker) DPS meter and Cactbot for FFXIV.

NOTE 1: People are mentioning that the FFXIV Overlay Settings tab no longer exists on ACT. Just skip this step in the video and you should have a functioning ACT. Let me know in the comments if this isn’t true and I will make another video. Thanks

NOTE 2: Is act safe? Yes. Yoshi-P has commented on why it’s against the TOS and basically square enix’s reasoning behind it being against TOS is because it can be used to harass and bully other players.

NOTE 3: As mentioned in the comments, make sure your game is set to ‘Borderless Windowed’ for the overlays to work.

  1. Straightforward, informative, easy-to-follow, succinct. This is one of the best video guides ever, honestly. It's the kind of video everyone hopes to find when looking up this kind of information. Bravo!

  2. Hey! LVL 45 healer (White Mage) on a LVL 1 target dummy. Timers are not showing. Shut down ACT, Reload, /bow – GO GO GO! No timers. Did I install wrong? Or may it only work for dps?

  3. First of all: perfect guide great work!

I've got a question. Sometimes in some encounters I don't have time lines but my friend has them (was on the tsukuyomi fight normal mode)
Do I miss something? Just wondering why my friend has them on this fight and I don't 😊 maybe u have an answer

  4. So I have no idea if youre still reading this, or some1 else who knows how to do it but: How do I get ACT to call out stuff like Trick Attack, Dragon Littony, Embolden etc.? I know its triggers and not a seperate plugin, but no idea how to actually set that up and I cant find a video for it xD

  5. Hm, so weird. I've followed all the steps so far in the video, but for some reason the tabs "FFXIV Settings" and "FFXIV Overlay Settings" won't show. I only see "FFXIV ACT Plugin" tab instead where I can only test the game connection. I am running as administrator and installed and enabled both plugins. I also have the game running and the DPS numbers do show up in the main tab. I just can't get it to work unfortunately.

Hi, I downloaded ACT and installed with no problems, but for some reason it isnt registering my dps or alerts the only thing that seems to work is the timers, is there some sort of mute button maybe I enabled? Only pc gaming a couple of weeks so Im pretty new to this, I also uninstalled and redownloaded but hasnt worked either im stumped, any help would be gratefull 🙂 Subbed btw.

  7. I tried to do the steps you did, but as soon as I download the Plugin 77 for the DPS meter it just closes ACT after the download and if I`m trying to reopen it it just says that the shortcut its going with got changed or moved and if i wanna delete it. Done this several times now, but idk whats wrong

  8. I watched another guide before this and thought mine just didn't work…but it turns out I was just too impatient and he was rambling too much, so I didn't get to the important part I needed. XD My ACT was trashed today when I had to hard-reboot my computer, so I was scrambling for literally 2 hours on my own trying to figure out what settings I needed to redo to make my robot voice come back to me. Turns out, it was the timers/alert overlay! So thank you very much for going over that, and MOST importantly, getting to it quickly. lol

  9. Weird, i followed all of your steps and while my damage meter works, the cactbot timers/alerts are not working

Edit: Never mind, i had to do a /coutndown instead of the /bow to test it. I saw someone on twitch use it with audio "move out" or "left". It's available in the cactbot menu in the overlayplugin.dll "default alert output text and tts"
