  1. I made most of my gil with just my gatherers. Never underestimate how badly someone doesn’t want to spend time gathering materials then once you know what they want, figure out how you can get lots of it for little to no gil invested.

  2. I'd actually confirm this is a great way to make money for pretty much any player of any level (as long as you can do Treasure Hunts in the first place of course), though mostly if you can gather the maps yourself through Gathering to offset any investment cost. The key to this is paying attention to what crafting materials are needed to make the popular items on the Marketboard. The vast majority of the most expensive items are made with crafting mats that come from the Treasure Maps. So get the map for the material you want, do the map and maybe get the material then either sell the material or craft the item yourself and sell that. But what if you're solo? It's pretty much impossible to solo the Treasure Dungeons but you still have a shot at the mats just from the initial treasure chest as long as you can kill the spawned mobs. If that's still too tough, the lower level treasure maps don't spawn dungeons but still may drop expensive crafting mats and you'll be able to stomp the spawned monsters pretty much in your sleep.
In short, if you've got even a level 35 gathering class and you're not at least grabbing your one free treasure map a day (or every 18 hours to be precise), you're basically throwing money away. Heck, even if you don't want to do the map yourself, sell the map itself on the Marketboard to Quazii xD

  3. so to explain the exclamation marker if you land on it the roulette markers will change to exclamation markers and atmos symbols( the purple markers)
and will spawn an elder summon which drops a gold chest, roll on an exclamation again and kill the elder summon and 2 gold chests will drop and this can go up to 5 gold chests

  4. Treasure maps are definitely fun. I usually do 80 (group) maps, but occasionally we'll do some 70 (group) maps as well. My friends and I have been able to successfully clear dungeons with 4 people albeit at a slower pace; but, I'd recommend 5 people for comfortable clears.

Just a tip: If you're going to be running maps for sure with others, open up one map to have in your Key Items, and then you can one map that isn't deciphered in your Chocobo Saddle Bag, and another in your inventory for a total of 3 maps per person. You can also put maps on your retainers as well but you'll have to return to a bell to get them.

  5. I'd like to add to this, that if you are limited on friends or are anti social like myself. I have done full runs of these maps with 1 friend! Comp was me as WAR and my brother was WHM and the only issue we ran into was the bonus objectives that may spawn occasionally. I want to make it clear though, you don't have to be super great at the game to do this, but you do need to be confident in your ability! If you run in and haven't played WAR or WHM to any competent degree I would recommend practicing cooldown rotations for AoE pulls and how to cycle CDs. – Rose

  6. Treasure hunt is really fun. It's one of the reason why I leveled up my gatherer so that I don't have to pay for the maps. Also, I could sell those map if I am full. Which means I have a constant revenue from the map sell everyday. Making Gil in FF14 isn't bad. It doesn't feel like grind at all.

  7. In my fc, especially when theres new members, we do treasure hunts as a sort of initiation rite. All they do is simple, choose the door if the portals spawn the non spinny instance. Its kinda fun to see their reaction if we get kicked out by badluck or those clutch luck moments wherein you got saved by the rainbow floor or the atomos got hit by ramuh's lightning. Theres also a rule in the JP community aka outside of circle of friends/FC, is that if its your map, all the loots are yours and you dont roll greed/need in other's map. So thats basically rule of running maps with pugs. Oh forgot to mention that they always state to bring 2 maps per head, 1 opened, 1unopened. It was an interesting experience tbh

  8. I've done these so much, and it's always funny to see the odd little bits of superstition that grow out of them. Like "Everyone Stand In Front Of The One You Want It To Land On" or "Dance When Someone Goes To Try To Open A Door" or "[X] player is our good luck charm".

Best Map Night I've ever had was back in Stormblood. We got just over 2.5 million gil in one night using just 16 maps.

  9. To avoid depression and internal fighting when the 10+ mil minions drop … I suggest you go with a static group and agree to split the value of the high end drops

  10. I think it should be made known to you and all the wow refugees, that Lootmaster isnt tolerable here. No one will join your party. You use it for your static to decide who gets what loot this week. For PF, nobody will join a lootmaster party. It's FFA or nothing.

Ive heard asmongold saying that "as long as the raid has lootmaster option, he's fine" but he's not there yet, so i think wow refugees need to know this at least.

For treasure map loot in elemental, its usually Owner loot, rest greed. So nobody will fight over it because you only have your luck to blame on. If you put FFA for treasure hunt, people who owns the map and get the portal will get salty if people keep taking the loot. You dont get portal, then no treasure chest. It will suck hard if you get to stage 5 or 6 or 7 (for stormblood) and somebody gets the loot you worked so hard on while they're standing right beside you doing nothing. They still get whatever drops so be grateful for it.

Might not be an issue in NA, i dont know. But that's what we do in elemental. Respect other people's portal.

  11. Our FC runs maps 3 nights a week. Just last week each of us made 806,000 Gil in 2 hours with a full group of 8……..BUT then again last night we ran 6 people of 4 maps each and only got maybe 6-7 portals. I can tell you this and you can take it to the bank: Once 6.0 Endwalker hits and lvl 90 maps drop, that IS the best time to make a boat load of money because the loot they drop will be selling for 5-8 MILLION EACH.
