Hi everyone! Today I’m taking a break from WoW content to give FF-XIV a try, following in the footsteps of many of you! I’m a total beginner to Final Fantasy 14 so I hope you’ll enjoy seeing the game from that perspective 🙂

  1. dont forget the little blue man icon on your character sheet will let you auto equip the best gear for you class that you have in your armory chest so you dont need to open it everytime, and manually do it.

  2. The thing on his arm is a Aetheromitor (if i'm spelling it right ) It allows them to see the ambeiant aether in the world so they can see abnormalities in the world

  3. Its so weird to see all these videos of lots of new players trying XIV for the first time 7 years after it came out…..but it’s amazing the game is doing so good 🙌🏻

  4. Hrothgar are basically Ronso from FFX and I believe sometime after Endwalker expansion they'll add Female Hrothgar and at release of Endwalker they are releasing male Viera.

  5. So nice to see more of this! You're an amazing streamer, judging by how you kept it so entartaining for four hours straight. I especially loved the theory about Thancred's imaginary women. 😀

I've raided in both WoW and FFXIV, and I would judge the endgame difficulty as such:
Normal difficulty Trials (singular bosses) and Raids (consecutive bosses) are somewhere between WoW's LFR and Normal. Trials and Raids are 8 player content. Alliance Raids are 24 player, and are around the same difficulty.
Extreme Trials are around early bosses in WoW's Hardcore raids.
Savage Raids go from late Hardcore bosses to early-mid Mythic.
I haven't played much Ultimate Raids, but I'd say they're around late Mythic bosses in difficulty.
I might not be completely on point with these, but hopefully it gives some approximate idea.

There are also Hard difficulty Trials in A Realm Reborn, but it's just an outdated term that's pretty much synonymous with Normal.
Normal difficulty content from earlier expansions is pretty easy despite the level sync system, since they allow high item level. They're still enjoyable and chill in their own way, but if you want more challenge at some point, you could try running content with a premade group with the "minimum item level" option on.

  6. A free company is the ingame "militia" for the three starting cities. You get special money to spend with them for completing special daily type quests, you can use the money to buy a lot of nice things. If you advance far enough with the free company, you can hire a free company party to run dungeons with you if you want to "solo".

  7. just an fyi, those lv50/60/70 and so on are notorious monsters randomly spawn on each zone. the ones that have red icons over their heads will aggro and pretty much 1shot you.

  8. Seeing you getting loss with the whole photomode was fun to watch. I love watching new players figuring out stuffs and then totally going off track with the side content.

  9. Lemme be the zillionth person to say: Focus on MSQ (kind of fireball-looking quest icon) and unlock (blue + icon) over side quests (normal icon), and don't bother with combat class unlocks unless you're not happy with pugilist/monk. Crafting/gatherer unlocks (which will start at level 10) are fine to collect. A lot of the major systems and features are "MSQ gated", like mounts, glamour (transmog), being able to travel between the major cities, etc. You will get more than enough XP just from the MSQ and your class quests to keep leveling, save the non-required quests for when you level another class (in case no one told, you can level all classes on one character and flip between them at will).

  10. Be careful on the door your opening. Once open you will forever be entangled in the ffxiv world. It is a wonderful story and very engaging. I play both games. They both have good stuff but the story in ffxiv is so freaking awesome.

  11. if you plan to get into emotes . . . . i'd very strongly recommend looking into a macro hotbar. . . or you will very quickly have no room left on your screen lol. . it's what 3-4 hotbars for just your normal skills/pots. then you got class changes, chocobo stances/bags. etc. . . oof.
