Hey there, I’m SydNova! I have been playing FFXIV since 2.0 in 2013.
In this video, I will be talking about my experience with getting into raids and sharing with you some tips on how I am able to overcome some of my nervous feelings when getting started.

  1. Your tip 3 is interesting, because my experience has kind of been the reverse of that. I used to enjoy tanking in FFXIV (paladin is so much fun), but over time, my anxiety of feeling like the party relied on me not screwing up just increased. That peaked around the time Castrum Fluminis (the Tsukuyomi trial) was still new, and I really wasn't managing my cooldowns properly. Now I just queue as DPS, and I'm happy to trade off longer wait times for not feeling like I'm letting the group down by floor tanking. At least as a bard I can pew-pew and dodge mechanics at the same time, and have fun rotating ballads. I do miss tanking though, so maybe I should give it another go.

    Definitely agree on the music, though. In the 15 years of playing WoW, I never felt the same goosebumps raiding as when that music kicks in for fights like 9S at the end of Copied Factory…

  3. Never thought about tank being an easier class but you make an interesting case with the point that it can handle being hit by a mechanic when other classes cant! Im so far away from endgame content but as I learn this is all good to keep in mind. Great video!

  4. ive been telling my friends for ages that playing tank is the easiest thing piss easy rotations where you can easily focus on mechs compared to the other 2 roles i play all 3 roles in svg content and for me tanking is just the easiest a bit too easy imo i hope they work on tank rotations cus its just so boring for me i always feel like im falling asleep playing tank with Warrior being the most boring one out of the tanks literally spamming 123 until fell cleave such innovative gameplay lol
