The intrigue of having Emet-Selch approach us and offer cooperation was the point in the game for me where I just couldn't get enough of MSQ. I used to try to keep all my job levels about even, keep up with crafting and sidequests and everything. In my screenshots folder I saw that it took me about two or three weeks from the start of 5.0 to get to where you ended this video here … and then it took me two days to finish 5.0, because I just sat down for a weekend and binged it hardcore. Hope you enjoy it too!
Yeah, this trial has great symmetry between visual and audio, with intuitive mechanics as well that are well visually represented like the vines 1:22:50
One thing to bear in mind that most people forget. Thancred is positioned as a father figure (or older brother considering age) to OG Minfilia. Hence why he's the overprotective dad to young Minfilia. Too many folks assume they are meant to be love interests.
You may not have realized it because of Titania's accent, but that was Robyn Addison, a.k.a. Y'Shtola.

The music in Dohn Mheg is very much inspired by Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Faeries". It was used in Disney's "Fantasia", which is probably where you heard it.
(There's no spoilers in this comment if you've played up to where 2 is.) The side story of Thancred and the Minfillia's was so compelling to me when I played this expansion. Thancred's struggle to take care of Mini-fillia (as she's so lovingly called by the ffxiv community) while knowing that she's not his Minfillia, is so good to watch. You can tell that he genuinely does care about her, but he's been put in the impossible situation of having to sit by and watch one of his adoptive daughters die – again! And Mini-fillia can feel his turbulent emotions towards her, all while not knowing why he's emotionally neglecting her. Of course he's holding back from telling her the truth, because she'd feel obligated to sacrifice herself to make him happy.
Also regarding the close-up composition shots of Thancred and Rhanjit, I love the visual symbolism. Thancred and Rhanjit are both father figures to Mini-fillia – both approaching her with opposite parenting styles. Poor girl's probably gonna have some dad issues when all of this is over.
Ahhh, it's such a sad situation for everyone, but such a good story. Can't wait for you to continue on!
I love this playthrough. Fun commentary and superb editing. Man, I wish these came out faster. But as the ffxiv community rightfully says, don't rush through the msq and instead savour every last bit of it. There's only one first playthrough.
No spoilers, but this is one of the most lore rich areas for this entire expansion. Watching you play through this has shown me a LOT of tiny tidbits I missed my first time. It's really jarring in retrospect. Kinda like one of those "omg NOW I see this??? Holy shit… That was such a big hint!!!" This expansion deserves all the praise it gets. It is so well paced, too. This trial was really a lot of fun too. I'm glad for the BLU update lol Gave me a reason to redo it a few times lol
No spoilers, but ALWAYS talk to Emet-Selch whenever you get the chance.
It's a shame you didn't choose the "you're putting me off my dinner" option. While the first two options have the same result, if you pick the third, Ardbert tries to come up with a dinner topic regarding food and ends up recounting a ridiculous quest where he and his friends had to gather ingredients for a banquet. This hearkens back to the Titan questline in ARR where the Company of Heroes made you do the same thing. I have no doubt that's the same story you end up sharing with him, too. LOL
Friendly reminder again that the fae have no gender and are entirely they/them in terms of pronouns.
2 hour playthrough!! 😮🎉 As the others already said, your edit and commentary is a joy to watch. And this made me love Il Mheg all over again; and made me see details that went over my head in my playthrough.
And the characters in general are so much more nuanced; getting more love for Dadcred and Uri 🥺 i will protect feo ul, seto and minifilla with my life.
