Welcome to Eorzea! Take your time with everything; there are real gems outside the MSQ, but the MSQ opens the game up a lot more, so yes, definitely keep the MSQ as the main focus. And if you really love little blue wizard man, his name is Vivi and he’s from FF9.
There is a dreadlocks hair style. Possibly not available for lalas?
You can start as a female character, get the dreadlocks and then identify as a male.
No, FFVII is NOT better than FFXIV.
I played EQ and EQ2 for ages. I picked up FF14 in November of 2021 and was done with the MSQ by the end of Feb 2022 (to the point of content that was out. If you know how MMOs work you can do it. My Advice is pick up every Blue quest you see and finish them. Don't be that guy who only has Crystal Tower unlocked for Alliance raids.
so black mage is considered the hardest once it hits a certain level. the thumb-of-turge is not super fun until about level 40 and changes completely every 5-10 levels.
You can get dreads however unfortunately I think they are only a Female Highlander thing
From a six-year vet of the game: welcome aboard! I would not encourage speeding through the game to get to Dawntrail. You probably could do it playing 20+ hours a week*, but I'd really recommend you take it at your own pace and enjoy the journey. You can only do it for the first time once and it's one of the best I've ever gone on. Try out every job, do some side content, kill time at the Gold Saucer.
(*: A friend of mine is pushing hard to hit Dawntrail streaming 10 hrs/week; she is knocking out about an expansion every two-two+half months and is barely on pace.)
PS: I see you have met Tataru (11:53); Tataru is the bestest best to ever best.
Funny thing about Final Fantasy 14, I've been married to the same woman I meet on 14 for 11 years now lol the community is far more inviting than WoW and other MMORPGs.
Edit: Also Astrologian is probably the hardest upkeep job in the game. 😅 But thats just my opinion, and i love it.
I think it's definitely possible to reach the end of the story, particularly if you're streaming for long hours multiple days a week. That said, there is a looot of side content to do along the way. If you plan on unlocking all of the raids, dungeons, extreme trials, etc. that could add a lot of time.
If you love little black mage guy (Vivi) you absolutely have to do a full playthrough of FF9. Great character with a really gripping story around him.
Ah yes tiny wizard man is best boi most beloved best boi
wow! i'm amazed at the warm welcome from everybody🥲 i'll be streaming FF14 every friday🧙♂
Oh your guild is a Hydro bro thing… Pretty cool!
You can definitely. Depends how much side content you wanna do or how much you go off the trail to do harder content or the games minigames like gold saucer.
I’d say experiment with different classes many have different paces
The fact that you're having fun with Black Mage already is a good sign! As it gets higher level it becomes super fun and enjoyable, I hope you have a good time and enjoy your stay!! Welcome to FFXIV ☺
Maybe one day Ill even promote you from second monitor to main monitor 🙂
if all you do is play final fantasy 14 msq, you could easily reach the end of the current story before the end of june. However, many streamers spend a lot of time interacting with their communities, and may take long breaks between streams, which in some cases extend their journey by months. Even if you don't make it all the way to the current patch by the launch of 7.0, the best course of action is to take your time and enjoy the game at your own pace, in the manner that you find most appealing. The worst thing that might happen if you're not caught up when 7.0 launches would be your viewership dropping as people take on the new expansion themselves, and the job actions may get drastically "re-balanced" in the middle of your story arc, but these will all be temporary hurdles.
It's totally possible to finish the MSQ in this time.
Did anyone mention to him that you can get dreadlocks in game, as an unlockable hair style?
I'm gonna assume it's been mentioned somewhere else in the comments.
(edit) Oh. There might not be for male Lala's. The hairstyle I remembered was on my Mi'quote, doesn't seem to be an unlocked one.
As someone who started with FF1 back in 1987 (yes, I’m old lol) and has played and 100%’d every single FF game made multiple times (it’s my favorite franchise by far), if anyone tells u any FF is better than XIV it’s nostalgia/copium talking. FFXIV is the greatest FF game ever made and it’s not even close. Hope u continue with the game and do periodic updates so we can enjoy your journey along with u 👍
wow your editing is amazing <3
I would plan on just taking your time. However, it’s definitely possible to catch up before dawntrail. I started the game February of 2022 and beat Endwalker in July of 2022 🙂 Welcome to Eorzea!
such a cool video!! you are also nice on the eyes 😮
Complete the story alone sure you can complete 💯 percent of all the side content lol gl
Don't worry about reading all the text especially in ARR 😀 I skimmed a lot of it and didn't miss any big info. I did watch all the cutscenes, but man, this "don't skip cutscenes" stuff wasn't really a thing back when 2.0 came out. Most people were just happy to play a FF themed MMORPG again, and the story of ARR was just kinda serviceable so no one cared about people who skipped.
And yeh I'd recommend not skipping, but reading EVERY dialogue box, even in the MSQ, is just unnecessary if what they're talking about is dull. And that's fine, there's lots of great dialogue to read, but it's mostly after ARR
You can finish the current MSQ before dawntrail, but you probably won't have much time left after getting level 90 gear to do side content like raids, trials, or tribal quests.
Just wanted to welcome you to FFXIV! I know you were told to do the MSQ, but did they also say to keep up on your job quests? You get skills from your job quest, so if they haven't said anything I'll just say to keep up on your job quests. 🙂 Enjoy your journey!!
My algorithm is algorithming. Is this the guy we're drowning in views today?… Ah, a new player. That makes sense.
Greetings, buddy. I hope you have fun in the game. Hm… maybe I'll make an alt on Moogle. We'll see if I get to catch you.
I started 5/6 months ago and I'm almost at endwalker msq, but I'm reeeeally taking my time with shadowbringers (because I like it a lot and I don't want it to end hehe) so I think maybe you can do it ^^
Wrong !! There are dreds in the game
IMO, it will take you the full 3 months to get through the full msq while paying attention to the story. You might not be able to variety stream depending on how much time you devote each day. Either way, whether you make the Dawntrail release or not, pretty sure you'll enjoy yourself. Also, it's REALLY easy to get sidetracked with the bajillion activities in the game. If you do, it's all good, play your way and enjoy what gets you involved 😀
Please play the Hildibrand questlines!!!
Once you get passed ARR, i have personally grinding my way through the entire main and podt expansion content msq for hesvensword snd stormblood before in around 4 days each. That being said, you will also get kind of burned out and also be missing out on side content if only playing the msq. Play the game at your pace. When you feel like lvling other jobs, e3xploring side content, or running some of the harder raids and trials, by all means DO THEM!. Ff14 is a game where you arent punished for taking your time or for not being at current content to be able to enjoy this beautiful mmo we love. Take your time, and just keep the MSQ as a reminder that when you arent sure what else to do, why not progress the story?
I actually tried to race through for endwalkers release. Didnt work. Now i started over just so i can experience the game differently. I wanted to play all the game's queued content in patch release order as well as limit myself to only having equipment available at the time of said content as I play it. Itll be a long while before Im at dawntrail. But im fine with it and I have an FC who wants to experience my journey with me
Welcome home, friend! I hope you have a great time in Eorzea 🙂 Try what you want, go at your own pace and remember, you can only see things for a first time once. 😉
Honestly, I think it's perfectly doable to get through the MSQ before Dawntrail if you put off doing side content. Raids, PVP, and other side content are amazing and definitely worth your time, so I don't want you to miss out on them, but some of it can be a huge time commitment. If your goal is to get through MSQ before the expansion, you'll have to kind of pick and choose what to do now and what to put off. If you want the experience of playing through the game and getting all the intended story, I don't think you'll make it before Dawntrail ^^;
If you don’t die of boredom during the msq you might enjoy it
To be fair to the FFXIV combat system, you have 16 hours playtime currently and likely arent even finished with ARR. The combat is highly simplified at that level, and complext rotations with very high skill ceilings come into play at level 50, with them getting more in depth and unlocking a new bar or something to spend or some new mechanic every 10 levels or so. Its not completely fair to comment on FFXIVs combat and compare it to endgame GW2 combat with youre still at the very beginning of them game and havent gotten the full endgame combat experience.
You just popped up in my feed (im a serial ff-msq vampire). And i gotta say, your hair is fuckin majecstic.
Edit: the queue is a lie. FFXIV will pool players who want to log in, and log them in all at once every 30 seconds or so. Thats why you'll often have to wait for a queue with 1 player (thats you) on servers with low population.
