  1. You mentioned that it was the magics that were corrupted in the 1st final days. This is partially incorrect. Fear (dynamis) caused their magics to go out of control. The art of creation requires complete and total focus, stray thoughts can corrupt the process. Watching the world burn around you, people die, would cause the best defense they had to warp and twist in ways they couldn't control or understand.

  2. They created Zodiark to shroud the world in aether, preventing Dynamis's influence on their world. However, the world was already ruined. Waters were poisoned, nature was ravaged, the winds ceased to blow and the earth would bear no fruit. Another 25% of the population sacrificed themselves to restore the world. The survivors, the remaining 25% of the original population also wanted to keep sacrificing souls to Zodiark to restore those who had already been sacrificed.

Notice Hydaelyn didn't act to stop Zodiark or his existance. Most of the Ancients agreed that Zodiark was necessary. Despair was killing her people as they become focused on what else they could sacrifice to fix their conditions instead of rebuilding the world the hard way. She acted to remove Zodiark and the people from each other, to prevent further sacrifices. Binding Zodiark removed his influence and action from influencing the populace. Sundering the people deprived them of the power and knowledge to create further sacrifices. No one remembers being an Ancient by design. No one has the power to figure things out, and never would, without Ascian involvement. It was a good plan, she just missed a few people in the Sundering and it messed everything up.

  3. I love the absolute bit of silence at the end where you and your character are just processing what you witnessed, and the music of the occular almost reminding you to breathe

  4. That final scene with Venat is probably one of the best, if not the THE best, cutscene they've made in all of FFXIV's history. The voice acting, the choice of song, and the direction of the scenes, everything is just absolutely perfect.

  5. Everytime Venat was struck and covered in black blood was her experiencing a rejoining. So she actually felt the death of Etherius and all life on each shard 7/8 times. Imagine that pain.
