Yeeeeah, I dont' care if it came straight from Word of God but this is wrong.
It's some stupid Simpsons-esque time bubble shit where time very clearly moves forward but nobody ages. Literally every NPC in Job Quests indirectly mentions it takes at LEAST one week between each stage of the job quest, the Doman Enclave restoration took 3 months, Ishgard restoration started afterwards, took several months and is STILL ongoing, every Beast Tribe takes at least 1 month in canon too. Hell, during the Weapons questline, M'naago mentions it's been ages since she last saw you around Rhalgr's Reach, even though you last saw her during the last expansion.
That's not even getting into the fact how nonsensical Garlond Iron Works developments would be if jammed into a single year timeframe AND the fact that moving between regions is canonically NOT done via teleporting but by hoofing it on feet, chocobo, manacutter, airships and by sea.
I reject this reality.
I brought this question up to my FC mates once . I really thought at least 8 years had passed by and asked "when are the twins going to get taller ?" To which they replied "about only 1 year has passed" 😮😮😮
Just think about it in the span of 18 months you toppled an empire free several nations got isekai’d and travel through space to the literal edge of the universe and destroyed a literal apocalypse bird demon
To be fair, there's a reason people keep telling your character to stop and rest; it's basically a non-stop full-sprint marathon for the Warrior
They just don't want the twins to reach a certain age because of .. reasons..
Funny thing is i remember back in hw there was at one point a noc that said it was 2 years since we came to ishgard pre stormblood release And im not the only one who remembers that
Seems like they keep changing how ling shit takes
Outright my head cannon is that we take no less then 4 years to complete everything. The twins are late bloomers but will hit puberty when they are ready.
Tbf, if you cut out all the dialogue and exposition of Heavensward it does move in a relatively linear pace. (So I can see it being over in about three weeks.)
A year and a half could make sense if we had the best possible travel time for trips between Eorzea and Orthard and we took Atheryte at every possible opportunity. Still people forget at least the Scions were in the first between a year and 5 years depending on each Scion which does count.
Nobody tell him that one piece took place over 2 years
Progressing faster than Baki the Grapplers skill issue.
I'd give it like 3 years minimum since the start way too much had happened
Ryne: hey Wol happy new year! How was your adventures this passing year?
Wol: well I I arrived to Limsa Lominsa doing simple errants and then I met some Lahabrea or something like that that was looking for trouble, also Eorzea was doing nothing about the imperials invading the land so I kicked their ass, made some friends along the way, my boy alphinaud created the diamond dogs and got betrayed, another friend los his arm, and then my friends died also a blonde girl that said she had the power of the echo died, but meh, so I escaped to Ishgard with the help of a dear friend, may his soul rest in peace, destroyed the church, ended the war between man and dragon, killed some ascians, more primal then went to liberate Ala Mihgo and Japan since no one was doing it, killed more ascians and primals, the bad guy revived somehow, kicked his ass again, then got sucked to your world, destroyed the light, brought balance to the elements, killed a good man, that was painful but I didn't have a choice, some more ascians thing, returned to my world, reunited the whole world, stoped the final days, travel to the past, returned, then travel to the very corner of the universe, killed a spoiled kid, brought peace back, traveled to the 13th and stoped some demons.
Ryne: OwO
WoL: yeah and there where some things happening in the crystal tower, with some sky pirates, some Lord's and a guy named Tensen, also had to fight some big ass robots and a lot more things but that's a story for another time 😅
Ryne: that's one hell of a year
Thancred: language!
Personally my my head canon is the time past at least 8 years.
Or it didn’t make any sense for WoW to master every freaking class on the planet.
How can they cooking like Gordon Ramsay ,Understand chemistry like Marrie Curie and punch like Bruce Li in 1 year!?
(8-10 years are still ridiculous but more possible)
You think that’s bad look up One Piece’s timeline
As a 1.x player it gets even more annoying, since five years pass between 1.x and 2.0, but 2.0 to 6.5 is just a fraction of that.
Bruh.
One piece is also like that before the time skip was like 6 months and post is like 3 that's not including the 2 year time skip
goku vs frieza may have taken 20 episodes to do 5 minutes, but akagi shigeru sat in a chair for 20 years playing a 6 hour game of mahjong vs washizu iwao
Kinda sucks to hear this since MMOs is one of the only unique ways to be able to have story happen over a long period of time feel like it makes sense
Honestly, sense we see the Wol sleep in the Shadowbringers expansion we can assume that the events there took a little over a week before we went back to the source, we legit speed ran saving an entire world
It's cartoon logic. You just don't think about it. It's like how the Simpsons never aged besides Lisa having her 8th birthday. And that was in an episode nearly 30 years ago now. So she's been 8 for 30 years.
1,5 years seems ridiculous
If you take the 3d2y out luffy and his crew have been together for lass than 6months or something
Confusing maybe but I wouldn't say annoying lol. Annoying would be titan questline and certain parts of stormblood
The wol went from struggling to kill ladybugs at the entrance of Ul'Dah, to end a 1000 year war, to free 2 continent from an empire, save another world, to saving then entire universe in a year and half.
Yeah, it sound that stupid when resumed like that.
One year is just stupid AF. Considering the logistic behing troop movement for every wars. (Aetherite or not)
The first’s time is much slower. I believe some of those characters were there for years when they only knocked out for a day
I swear, I thought it was at least, AT LEAST, 2-3 years since the carriage ride. And here I was hoping to see the twins grow up into proper adults in the next expansion. Silly me.
3 years is the official span between ARR and Endwalker. ARR – Heavensward probably took a year. Stormblood took a year, while Shadowbringers took place with time dilation so ShB took no time. Post -Shadowbringers to Endwalker took a year.
Here's something you can do for free, even if you don't own FFXIV or have a subscription: Google all of the teaser trailers, watch them, starting with A realm reborn, LOOK AT HOW YOUNG THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT LOOKS… Then look at Heavensward, Stormblood, and shadowbringers… See how he (and other scions) age? Look at their facial features. Look at Endwalker, THEN LOOK AT THE TRAILER FOR DAWNTRAIL. Tell me it's been a year and a half. I have a feeling there's a time skip for Dawntrail… You just can't hide all of this aging without saying something…
it makes it even more confusing when real-world holiday events like hatchingtide, the rising, starlight, etc, are considered canon and referenced sometimes in the story.
The time bubble is one of the few lore things in FFXIV that I think sucks. WoW handles time better. I hate to say that, but time actually passes there.
Didn't all of the events in John Wick 1-3 take place over the course of like, a week or two?
The ones that want to see the twins grow it’s gonna be awhile about another 20ish years
This is an issue that superhero comics also have. Spider-Man has had 61 years of stories… But in universe, we had no more than 15. And that's pushing it.
Not that ridiculous when you look at how much the twins have grown.
I mean, Alexander Exists. Time was apparently already messed up before we got here.
A year and a half is still a long time tho,. I dont get why you guys are confused
Just tell yourself the twins accidentally drank an anti-aging potion. They’re stuck short forever now.
When I was told that everything took place in over a year I was like "excuse the fuck me? When was my birthday party? When was everyone's birthday?! HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN IN THE OTHER PLACE?! WTF?! AHHHHHHHHH!"
All of One Piece currently has taken place about 2 years and a month
In the ARR post-relic quest, it's stated that two years had elapsed between when Gerolt got a certain commission during your quest and when you complete that commission with him… IDK it took me two irl years to complete my relic there soooo
Ma head canon is that ARR is about 2 ish years and HW SB and ShB were about a year ish each when EW was only about half a year. So the whole story is about 5 1/2 ish years for ma WoL who started the journey only 19 years old and ended it at age 24-25
When was it officially stated that only a year elapsed from ARR to Stormblood? Can anyone give me a link to that?
An even crazier way to look at this is the insane short amount of time you WoL then grows.
You literally start as a basic adventurer…maybe just a bit more.ppwerful than your fellow average person. And in just a few months you have already grown strong enough to take on a form of gods and people who have literally spent their whole lives training and in battle.
Within a year your considered to be a full blown champion of an entire nation…ended 2 major wars and are dealing with an unknown threat from out of the world. Literally.
Add in another few months or so and once again you top the charts by nearly double ….
Be it that have a soul of azem…or are azem…. your literally a quickly growing and scary form of power that is beginning to seem endless…even before merging with ardbert you already have an insane depth to your abilities.
It makes one wonder though if eventually this could have a backlash on the WoL in which our power is growing faster than our body can actually withstand. (And i dont mean like in Shb where we had a dourve of power being fed into us to cause this…..but rather our bodies own natural rejection of our own strength.
(Kind of like if you are running along and pull a muscle)
Hey one peice is even more absurd on that point
Times jumps in MMOs could be a tricky thing. Main characters aging, new character models, etc. Not to mention how you're WoL will look especially if ppl are RPing their character 🤔
