This Is The BEST Track From Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers

This is absolutely in my top ten tracks from FFXIV – I love it for so many reasons but it just hits. It was so fun to really sit with this track and try to understand why it’s written the way it is.

  1. I think ShB was the most impactful expac to me, even with the tears shed in EW.

The ShB hero leitmotif in there feels like it's almost the WoL asserting their will, their determination. What is the entirety of Shadowbringers, after all, if not "rage against the dying of the dark"?

I can't imagine that this being potentially Soken's last expac didn't inform his compositions.

  2. Vauthry kind of feels like the final boss just as Mount Gulg feels like the definitely final dungeon.
What comes after feels like the post credits extra quest to get the true ending.

  3. For people encountering this style for the first time – check out Enigma (MCMXC A.D. album especially) 😀 it's clear they went for that vibe when you hear the beat, it's a classic.

  4. This has to be my all time favorite music from this series. I say this because I was a story skipper for FF14 for more than 6 years and hearing this song on the launch trailer made me realize maybe, I was missing out on the greatness. It convinced me to replay the entire game before the Shadowbringer released. I am so glad I did because I see FF14 on completely different ways than I used to. Everything felt like it all fell into place.

  5. Def not my favorite battle theme from ShB and even more overall, since some of my favorites are field themes, like Unmatching Pieces, Unchanging, Everchanging & Amaurot theme. BUT this track is still a certified bangers. So many ShB and Endwalker tracks are! Incredible breakdown as always Marco.

  6. Now that I think about it, the "Macarena" could be a reference to how Innocence commands the other sin eaters to "dance to his tune" as well as a nod towards Elmore's ( his city ) philosophy:

" The world is ending, let's party"

  7. As the three years I played XIV, I have never once recalled ever listening to Vauthry's battle theme. And now? I walk away with loving this banger of a battle theme. Also the Macarena is stuck in my head as well lol

  8. Shadowbringers really had some banger tracks. Insanity was one of my favorite tracks that I sort of missed the first time through until doing EX and really started listening to it. The piano is just stunning and a little insane (pun intended).

Vauthry is an interesting character. He was told he was special and born to save the world. To him, he is righteousness, he is always right and he is the chosen one. He’s still just a spoiled kid that was doted upon all his life. Hence the name: Innocence.

(Also watching the gameplay in the video, rip diurnal and nocturnal sect T.T)

  9. Tomorrow and Tomorrow is probably my absolute favourite of Shadowbringers, though To The Edge and Shadowbringers itself have me in a griphold as well.

The songs from Shadowbringers are just all top tier however.

  10. I always saw the 'tomorrow and tomorrow' section of the mix as the theme of the people of the Crystarium. So in essence it isn't just you vs. Vauthry, but you and all the people of the First fighting back against him and all he represents. It's the sound of the world turning a corner and taking control of their own futures again

  11. This is probably not personally in my top 5 but it's definitely a good one. Also it's not muffled anymore…. because Vauthry is no longer Jabba the blob and has "come out of his shell" so to speak, much like the music did. Soken is truly a musical genius, he hides so many things in these tracks that you might not catch first or second time but when you go back and listen to it, you can think "huh, that's neat."

  12. Me: Reads the title of this video

Me: Okay but….. "Do you know… la HEE??"

In all seriousness though, Shadowbringers had SO MANY amazing musical pieces as does all of FFXIV. So many amazing stories told through music

  13. A part I feel that was missed right at the start. The chorus kicking in and it's all melodic, but there's that high, sharp note that does that unnerving slide up. So the soprano first with that almost scream like call and then following it the unnerving slide upward. Sure it's all regal and godly, but it isn't right. It isn't comfortable. I find that to be a detail that makes this one more fun
