This FFXIV Addon is MALWARE? (Twitter Drama)

Gshade was self reported to be a MALWARE! The program has been shut down and tons of other developments are happening over time. For now, this video just explains what happened, and I show some tweets made by the community talking about it.

How to convert Gshade to reshade: https://youtu.be/wmAo3kxQ9vM

If you just want to uninstall Gshade, then click the windows key and type uninstall Gshade. You should find the uninstaller. Then watch the video linked above, because they show extra files that need to be removed too!

  1. I did my transfer yesterday. I first had reshade and switched to gshade when I changed computer cause it was easier to install, but now I am back with reshade lmao.
Tho my presets are now kinda funky looking but bareable. The only thing I'm missing is getting the KeepUI thing working, but no luck so far. Such a mess.

  3. Is there anyone that uses AcerolaFX on Reshade? Hadn't used it about a month after it came out and Gshade's update removed it. (Probably because of me installing it in the normal shaders folder.
But wasn't sure if it was possible because of the install guide saying: "GShade is a fork of ReShade made specifically for Final Fantasy XIV which you need to download here. Default ReShade will not work! (unless you know what you're doing)"

  4. The irony is that the malware was said to be "AnTi TaMpEr SoFtWaRe" by the gshade author so that third parties couldn't steal copyrighted material. Let that sink in. Copyrighted material, from a program that is for all intents and purposes from an add-on that was entirely opensource that he took in the first place. Fucking what.

  5. What I understood about the gshade and the kid thing is that for every update on gshade you had to redo your settings. The kid made a program (3rd party program) to gshade wich is a 3rd party program. The creator got mad and dint lile 3rd party program tampering with his stuff, like his is doing with ff xiv wich goes against tos. So he made gshade turn of the computer for anyone using a 3rd party program towards gshade. Hypocritical is what that is called. He killed everyone's trust and everyone left gshade. At first he even try to say it was not malware because it didn't do anything dangerous to the computer. But it is still malware.

  6. I'll keep gshade until they do another major install I'm honestly too lazy to worry about it, the Gshade Devs were so dumb for this I'm sure people were funding them too what a major L. xD

  7. Nice clout chasing and fear mongering. Join the twitter wave. Not defending the developers actions to spite a 16 year old and yes trust has been broken but people are acting like having Gshade installed is akin to getting the Millenium Bug and their entire PC is going to explode and catch fire if they dare keep the program installed. Nobody using this program in its NORMAL use could ever encounter the PC shut down code and that codes now been removed as well soooooooo… yeah.

  8. I switched to ReShade after the whole drama but noticed that Reshade is kinda whacky with Job Gauges in FF14, e.g. the bards or astrologian or monks job gauges aren't masked if i understood it right and that means the area around the job gauges still have the normal look it's not shadered basically. Hope there's a fix for it but couldn't find one at the moment.

  9. I'm super tired but I dyed my fat cat outfit the same color only metallic. I am also a butt and laughing at this situation. I'll never have to worry about this stuff because I respect the rules of not using 3rd party crap to mod your game and anyone that does deserves this stuff to happen to them. People can do whatever they want when you use something the literal people that made the game tell you not to do, so serves people right. I recently left a discord because people admitted to outright botting and I hope they all get banned. So rude.

  10. Ahhh, modders. It's so reliable – a mod gets popular, and the creator starts thinking they're a gift/leader to the community.

Gshade was always kind of shitty, a fork of open software that tried to close itself off and go proprietary is always a danger sign.
