The fact that Army's is still capped at 4 procs with no other benefit while they extended the time you have to stay in it by an entire 10 seconds is baffling to me, what the hell else are we supposed to be doing while that thing's capped???
We need bane ;; and I also wish we got our song effects like we did in FFXI. Why am I a deaf bard in FFXIV?
I'm like 99% sure that both songs could already proc at the same time, even in the very small amount of playtime I have on BRD I've gotten two stacks for minuet and paean on the same dot tick.
Longer dots, longer songs, new Quick Knock animation, Radiant Finale boosting your OWN damage… I like all this actually!
Bloodletter is going to compete for being the most pressed button for bard
Been a BRD main for awhile now and was really hoping that they'd do something more to actually fit that Apex arrow into the rotation. It just always seemed like that skill with the soul gage was very tacked on and doesn't really fit anywhere in rotation. Also was really hoping for a DoT spread skill but oh well.
Not a BRD main(neither a SMN main), but I feel BRD would benefit to have Bane. It hits my DoT management part of my brain.
Is it me or did like half the jobs get some kind of line AoE?
My only issue is that I was kinda hoping for the Bloodletter charges sooner and could give us the 3rd charge after 80 if need be.
Love these changes overall, addresses pretty much all my issues with BRD. Something worth noting based on how BRD works right now. On a low Skill Speed, you can probably double weave both bloodletter charges to mitigate the issue stated with over capping (Not fix, but mitigate it slightly). I'm torn about not getting Bane, on one hand, it'd be more fun… on the other hand, they'd need to nerf the crap outta Ballad to make it remotely balanced.
feel like radiant will be held for 2 min windows, and used in initial burst window regardless of stacks
Why is wardens paean still there, it's bloat I don't understand why they persist either remove it or make it meaningful
Bloodletter would truly be insane if we got Bane.

this has ALWAYS been a thing. i've wanted this exact change since stormblood tho.
I wish BRD was a Ranger instead. Really don't like how they made this job in FF14 and they're still sticking to it's trash, outdated kit. Just the whole RNG concept of that job is awful.. and having inconsistent procs which also fxcks with Apex arrow. It's a mess.
If Bard gets an equivalent to Bane wouldn’t your songs proc like crazy?
look at all these burst arrow i use to fishing ra with 45sec dot duration now
I will never forget that one guy on twitter that was so butt hurt that you said in state of the realm that people were telling you BRD was great
similar to how mch mech gets an additional oomph to using queen. I think bards 80 gauge. will mean you want to use apex right at 80 and no more. unless a fight specifically needs the dmg from 100. . and with apex not having falloff but blast arrow does. . you'd need to have a lot of targets to make it worth holding apex for the full 100 (also makes holding apex for a 3 target add phase more stringent on how long you can hold. previously you could hold for a long time if you were hitting all 3. . . now, not so much). . wont influence most people but it does make parsing and min/maxing more difficult on bard (also far more variable with the miltiple bloodletter resets. . resetting 1 would be consistent, and you could plan around it to not lose any with apex. but 2 you can have games on the upper end with a bloodletter every global. and the lower end every 2/3 of the globals).
that said, the radiant coda will help bards damage to be nice.
the one thing that would matter with coda, is having it at the 6 minute marker when all of the 2nd potion rounds come up. that's the best place for all 3. . my assumption is just using it every 2 minutes. now that so many of the raid buffs are cut down to 2 minutes, you'll likely get the most out of it there. it's essentially a trick attack at 5 (slightly less at 4). . so unless your team composition has some odd 90 second timings. holding it for 30 seconds to include a metric ton of raid buffs would be better. as that also ensures it's up for the 6m rotation.
only thing i can think of, would be a double 90 second cd melee burst window type team composition. . . we'll see.
but overall . . . i think unless defensiveness is needed bard might easily take over as the predominant ranged physical (in speed teams ofc). . their lower personal dps is solved almost entirely by having proper buff windows. . start off with minuet. finishing that at 40-45. go with mages through the 60 second burst window. holding that until probably 85-90. and then minuet for 30-40 seconds. . . also seems less restrictive on cutting minuet off early if you know you can't get another pitch perfect in that timeframe. as that's now outside the burst window. . . and double stack bloodletter MIGHT actually make mages ballad the go to first song for buff windows and not mages. . . as minuet is prone to going from 2 stacks to 4 (but capped at 3) and losing one. where mages you'll just bloodletter nearly every gcd, or every other gcd. . which in my mind has higher overall potential, and you'll just use empyrial arrow on cd no matter what . . hell double weaving might be a thing in mages ballad (it wasn't before, because of the inherent risk of not getting a bloodletter reset costing you). . .
First of all, take my like.
And the comment about two Bloodletter stacks is the exact reason why a functional community is so invaluable to identify problems. And in the same vein, why a community is never a valuable source for solving those problems. Seriously, it is fundamental in R&D. Always listen to the users' feedback for their troubles but never for their solutions.
I'd probably get more out of this if I knew what "proc" meant.
Considering that bloodletter still has the problem of overproccing, as you described, I think the only way to fix this is to add a trait specifically for the mages ballad window where any use of blood letter uses both charges for enhanced potency. Even with a third charge, you’d still end up with the same problem if both dots can proc it if you can only use one charge at a time. Would be the only resolution I could think of for that specific problem.
I could bet my life that we would get a skill to spread DoTs
About people being worried that songs would proc like crazy if Bard got Bane :
They could make it so only manually applied DoTs proc the songs, or have Bane-spread DoTs only have 1/5 or 1/10 the chance to proc.
