  1. "These FFXIV Servers are DEAD" i don;t see the problem, i'm told this happens late into every expansion. Literally everyone will come back for 6.55 and then Dawntrail

  2. One Weird Trick / CRAFTERS Hate Him. Step 1. Be on a dead DC. Step 2. Use universalis to look for a neiche, like housing windows. Step 3, go to a populated server with crafters undercutting to oblivion. Step 4, buy windows and move back to your dc, then sell for 300 % profit. Yes, the DC is dead and we love this. Its quiet, Limsa benches are CLEAN. Its like a gated community suburb of FFXIV. We. Are. RICH.

  3. Worldwide PF would be best, but one potential compromise for the technical challenges might simply be to let folks browse other data centers party finders. You'd still need to travel, and maybe they could add a direct link in the search to let you do so, but it would allow folks to list PFs from their home worlds and still get access to everyone

  4. I will say this much as someone who's in Materia DC.
Its sooo much cosier because we don't have ourselves a 2-dc problem. the Novice Network, fcs and linkshells are you best bets into getting into the community. And even then, because we'll find ourselves bumping into familiar names as we continue doing roulettes, pfs, etc, the community sense feels more established, even more so than my time in aether ironically.
the market board, savage, bozja and alliance raids are the only things that suffer the most. Eureka may be a little slower, but its surprisingly manageable.

  5. As for the US data servers, the not one that’s truly dead is Dynamis. Crystal and Primal might not be as active as Aether, but at least you can get a party for most content (may take a little longer, say 10-15 minutes instead of 5, but it’s doable). Dynamis, however, never took off. I remember MrHappy trying to figure out where the best/worst Party Finder parties could be found for clearing certain content. Dynamis was so dead he couldn’t even get a party together for anything, let alone big raids.

  6. As an American on Crystal I find this very frustrating. I don't want to go to Aether to raid. It's tedious, but more importantly, I don't want to feed into the bleed of players who are on Crystal, but leave for pf. Probably the same on Primal. Dynamis…is probably never gonna have an active pf. Sorry Dynamis. But I hope Crystal and Primal both have an upswing where people just draw a line in the sand an say "I want ro raid close to home". Either that, or we need a cross DC party finder/queueing system.

  7. I only recently started a new character on Chaos. I was always confused why it was hard to get players for higher level content. This finally answers my concern. Sucks that the answer is to DC travel tho.

  8. I think a core issue with the devs wanting to tackle this stuff is the spaghetti-ass code the game is running on. I don't know much about servers and coding, but I do remember the jank this game uses as a foundation from way back in the 1.0 and 2.0 days. It wouldn't surprise me if the devs come out and say it's less a social concern, and moreso a development and coding issue. It's incredibly janky to have to transfer to another data center from the log-in menu, when you can just world-hop while in-game.

I remember seeing someone in Primal PFs shortly after everyone started to shift over to Aether, and they always had in their descriptions "Day X of reviving Primal PF." It went on for a week, maybe a month or so, back in August. (Ironically, I never saw how long they kept going because I eventually started going to Aether to raid). And I haven't seen them again in any PF since then. It's downright depressing. We can't even revive our own PFs because there just isn't anyone left.

  9. I just wanna say, I found your content a day or two ago. It's been interesting hearing your thoughts on things. I watched your video on UWU yesterday, and it looks a lot of fun. I've done some savage content in the past, and have considered doing ultimates. I've just had issues with toxic fc's, static members, and so on. To say I keep my friends list barren nowadays is an understatement. Part of me still wants to do harder content. But part of me is tired of dealing with toxic people.

  10. It would be great. I don't know how we are in 2024 and still have to deal with split up servers on mmorpgs, I'm actually sick of it. Runescape had this problem solved from the get go, you didn't have to make choices about if you were going to cut yourself off from a group of friends across the world, you could go visit and PLAY with anyone at any time, no "uhhh make sure you make char on this server"

  11. I feel like the titling of this is a bit more incendiary than the actual issue you're talking about. You should call the video "FF14 has a Partyfinder problem"
It comes down to whether you care about pugging or not. When you say "dead server," I think zero players. But I'm from Louisoix and there are players all around me at all times. With a lovely comfy Static I do content with. I understand you're addicted to the ball-twisting fun of doing Savage and Ultimates… but that's more of a you being an amazing player problem lol

Also when you say "dead server" that also causes an Oroboros effect because it scares people into leaving servers they are on. It's like trying to fight a fire with gasoline. 😨

  12. I think people look at this form the wrong way. People didnt move to other servers because of "bad influence of server travel". People moved because server travel was allowed, but the party finder was not updated. I need to use an external site to see where parties are available. I cant see it in game. If Im in aether I dont see parties of Primal… So people were like "you know what, we know aether has the most, we just go there to save the trouble"… and thus people migrate to places. Also, the fact that you cannot see or talk to your FC or linkshells on other servers or you cannot use the FC buffs is crazy… The devs should have made these possible first. People would be less inclined to change servers when they have a nice medium home on a server, and can do majority of the staff cross travel. But since they limited the cross travel things, people just be like "fuck it, too much effort". I understand the need to not allow to reach the retainers, becase it could fuck up market boards, but lets be real, people who want to mess up a server's economy, can damn right do it just about any moment.

  13. Guilty as charged… I always HAVE to datacenter travel, with me currently grinding out the Resistence Weapons as well as an fleeting interest in Savage Raiding. Chaos is just sorta like, dead. But I have my friends, and more importantly our FC and FC House on Chaos and frankly none of us want to permanently switch over to Light just for better queue times. We sorta just wish there was a fix to the situation, altough deep down it feels as if this is going to be how it is now and we just kinda, have to deal with it ^^'

  14. Moving from JP to OCE DC has been the best thing and worst thing for me. I can probably say that a majority of OCE players want cross region duty-finder / party-finder and seeing that a majority of us already understand the JP raid etiquette and still bring the same customs/traditions here to OCE it would be a net positive. I agree with players having the choice to opt in with language and region choice so that if you have or want to you stick with your native tongue and don't try to play among us with non-native speakers. Honestly DC travel is so wack for real lol, the cons outweigh the pros sometimes.
