  1. as mentioned in the disclaimer, i don't think i was super well-spoken here. but i told myself i would subtitle this and put it on youtube and I DID IT I HECKING DID IT SO I WILL BE 10% PROUD OF MYSELF

also, when i mention that people who barse aren't as toxic as people make them out to me. i am purely talking about people who parse for themselves and don't really upload logs much. fflogs is another debate entirely that i forgot about in the heat of the moment lmao

  2. Imagine throwing a tantrum for someone else who got banned because they openly cheated on a live stream…maybe don't do it live?????? Why you crying??? Pretty sure they don't care what you're doing in game at the time you're breaking tos. As they shouldn't. Is this really a shock to you? This is why kids need to learn they can't have everything their way.

  3. You don't know me. I don't know you… But I will tell you this as a 1.0 player… yes a legacy player… Also as a Game Dev.

1st of all. ToS are the laws of FFXIV and game Masters are the Police. Police doesn't catch all law brakers everytime. What about if some one public announce you can brake the law and police doesn't do anything? (this is called CORRUPTION).

2nd. Japanese care about the privacy of the people this is why they don't want to enforce a "game guard" because they vote for TRUSTING YOU. So YOU will NOT modify the game. If you have a suggestion for it leave it on the SUPPORT DESK INSIDE THE GAME or at OFFICAL FORUMS.

3rd. ACT have existed since ARR BUT. A BIG BUT here since HW certain person who create WOWLOGS… create FFLOGS… Guess what happen and why they change the community terms of harass someone… I SUFFER from people been toxic due to my PLD… yes my PLD didn't do enough DAMAGE and that people who UPLOAD my LOGS without MY permision show it up… (which I didn't have any idea of this website back in that time). So Yes Yoshi-P says 100% will lead to TOXIC things the use of these tools…

    a) Now I answer you as a Dev. Calculators even exist when you are building a game design fight… we called a Calibrator… So it shows the damage during the fight so we can balance it gradually. This results on FFXIV when you open your DUTY FINDER and says MINIMUM ITEM LEVEL AVG. and SYNCRO to X ITEM LEVEL.

4th. DO NOT MIX ACT (with CATBOT that shows even what the boss is going to do next) and UI or HUB modifications or directly MODS… one thing is access to improve the live and other is cheatting…

5th. As a Game Dev. and specifically 3D modeller put IN MY MINDSET… yes MY MINDSET NOT MY SHOES. You do NOT spent tons of hours of work to a gear set pieces looks cool or that can be combines with others only BECAUSE you want to change THE FULL 3D character model… That is directly DISRESPECTFUL to the artist.

I can continue but for now these are the important points to take into account.

Thank you for reading. (And sorry if my English is not good enough, manage 5 languages is hard sometimes)

  4. I generally think Xenosys is a cool dude, and I support the notion of making the ToS less vague, but his "Discord is a 3rd party tool" take was something else. Wild statements like that don't help an already muddy situation, not to mention it's just flat out disingenuous.

  5. AFAIK, the streamers who got banned weren't just using ACT, people been using ACT on stream for years, and I never seen an instance where that was the sole reason of the ban. The TOS have been the same for all these years, and even tho i think a lot of add-ons bring QoL to the game, if you're a streamer you should take in account the risk you're taking with showing add-ons on your screen. The mass reporting isn't better either, since it's also against ToS. I kinda struggle with putting most of the blame on SE in that situation because what they said isn't really new, people just got too comfortable imo.

  6. the people who watch Streamers usually aren't the ones who play the games though.
I'm willing to wedger less than 50% of streamers viewers actually player FF14, and are there simply for the streamer and their personality, assuming they have one.

  7. The real problem is people using 3rd party tools to cheat. It seems to be pretty rampant in pvp and even in some raids where 3rd party tools can put down floor markers on unmarked attacks. And cheating is a very slippery slope. Once those floodgates are open they can never be closed. Dark Souls 3 for example had to completely shut down its online functionality because the cheaters got so bold, and they figured out how to modify other players save files, doing stuff like resetting their whole progress or injecting hacked items in their inventory to get them banned. I never want to see ff14 go down that road and if that means no more 3rd party tools at all, I'd much rather see that.

  8. There's gotta be a parsing boogeyman or something cause I've literally never encountered anyone toxic using a parser in my life playing mmos. It's only the ppl against them that are toxic from my experience.

  9. while i agree its messed up to mass report someone least of all a streamer trying to share content with everyone, third party tools, mods, hacks, cheats have been ban worthy ever since this game started it is not a new thing or sudden drop of a hat policy they decided to randomly implement over night.
people just dont read like at all period lmao not only that but some feel so entitled when if they had chose to listen or read they'd realize they dont own shit lol none of what they play or stream in ffxiv they own except their name and that is it.
everyone who is a ffxiv player signs the electronic agreement to obey and ahere to the terms of conditions and terms of service if you break or violate them YOU accepted the liability that you will be punished if you are caught either by a GM, a Dev, or another player.
you do not get to bitch and say its unfair lol you agreed to it
this out roar is nothing short of a child having a tantrum cause they were caught breaking the rules and punished accordingly and it only further puts strain on the relationship between us and the developers of the game cause rather than acting like sensible adults that you would expect to see you see spoilt, entitled behavior of a 5 year old.

if people want so badly to be able to have nice things then they need to speak up about it not try to be a coy smartass or entitled jerk and throw that in the devs face that they dont do developing that good at all cause as mr yoshida had blatantly put out they are only human beings and can only work so much before it becomes unbearable and cumbersome the weight of pressure and the constant backlash and when their behavior becomes negative an they dread coming into work the next day then yeah its gunna show in the quality of content and gameplay that gets produced.

  10. Those mass reporters arent likely FF14 Vets, they are likely hanger ons in the negative sense, people who heard 14 was getting popular and decided to follow a streamer not because they particularly like said streamer but because they wanted to see what the fuss was about and likely see how they could be dicks to the streamer and or the community they have, bam, ToS a classic, catch person breaking it, and get that streamer banned, now that streamer is out of the game for 10 days and thus 10 days of less revenue. They got to hurt someone who's probably better off than them.

  11. This is a big issue right now, because everyone and their mom uses third party tools..
let’s face it, if u’re a savage raider and own a pc, uve got ACT. And judging from all the other, non serious casuals I see on Instagram that have accounts dedicated to thier glamour shots of thier xiv character – yea, there’s prolly a ton of ppl using mods..

Just to be clear – I dont give a shit what ppl use, and I want ppl to enjoy the game how they enjoy the game (as long as it’s not cheating or at the expense of another) and I generally know that the xiv devs have turned a blind eye to this scenario for a long, long, long time..

However – I’m also not going to say they’re wrong for doing it.. nor would I say this was a ‘toxic’ thing to do by the community .. sure some ppl in the community essentially “told on them”, but at the same time, if they weeent doing anything bad.. they shouldn’t have anything to worry about?
No one can be mad that SE is starting to crack down on these mods.. they’ve said since like SB, that third party tools are not allowed – so it’s kinda like, use em at ur own risk..

And yea streamers will suffer the most, only if u’re blatantly streaming with the evidence right on ur screen.. in which case, that’s extra dumb

I’m a console user so I don’t need mods and I can still clear content without them and enjoy the game without them.. do I see merit in dps meters? Sure. But x-group dying in x raid due to enrage, time and time again with 0 deaths, will prolly indicate that u need more dmg..

And yes – they will never completely be able to stop the use of third party tools – just like cops will never be able to catch every criminal., but I’m still not going to look at the ppl who reported the crime more at fault than the person who committed the crime.. could u imagine the ignorance in that?
Like how u gunna get mad at the cops for arresting someone for murder? Or the person who reported the murder? Like.. maybe the idiot shouldn’t have committed the crime? Cause that’s what rules are for.. play by the rules, or be subject to the consequences … it’s not rocket science 🤷‍♂️

  12. I think the problem with "we're investigating" would have been the fact that the investigation would consist solely of opening the stream to catch the user red-handed. It'd be hard to hear them say that and have people take them seriously. Very "who shot Hannibal?", you know?

Ultimately I want them to expand functionality because I play on console so I can't use add-ons at all and I always feel like I've got to play "better" than a PC player. There's an imbalance in functionality. At the same time, I want them to be very careful with anything that could upset their fight design. I like it the way it is, and I think the community generally approves of the way it is, and approving significant UI changes could skew development approaches.

As for the hats thing… I stand here as a femroe main using a femroe-specific hairstyle that's been in the game since 2013 and which clips through – THROUGH – the body of several hoods, most notably the Ebers hood. I'm hoping that over the next few patch cycles they can get in there and fix some of the C-tier bugs like that and figure out a way to hattify the special framing they had to do for Viera/Hrothgar heads. It's tough out there stay safe

  13. I was playing FFXIV daily for like 5? 6? years and tried helping new people getting into the game and teaching them the ropes. While with a friend of mine explaining stuff in chat to one new player (healer) we got, as we found out later, reported for toxic behavior (probably by the last player, but we never found out for sure). We did nothing, but explain mechanics and the easiest way to handle them to one person that explicitly asked how this (dungeon) boss works and that we had to kill the exploding adds really quickly. My friend got a 3 day suspension for mentioning something on the line of 'ignore the boss and use everything on the adds and if someone is dead you can revive them after the add is dead'. Someone went so special snowflake, that even mentioning raising someone in a better timing got them to report.
After that time, i never wrote anything in chat outside of my fc and during static raids, which in return killed all motivation i had to continue playing the game. I loved helping people to get better in the game or get through 'tough' fights, but since i didnt want to get suspended for any reason i just basicly muted myself.
I definitly also was using 3rd party tools to know where to improve myself (and playstation players in my static that were asking for some feedback, since they couldnt check themselfs). I could not care less if anyone else was using any 3rd party tools, regardless of what they are, since it just doesnt matter for anyone but them. I never got attacked for my low dps when i started out and only got a few comments, when we were going for an ultimate and the static wanted to get to the next phase more consistantly, which is completly fine, i was playing very defensively up to that point to not die to some stupid shit.
I did not get to see this drama unfold up to now, but i see that my "break from the game" is gonna be juuuust a bit longer now. I cant see myself comming back with them making such rediculus decisions.

tl;dr: my fun was helping people -> after seeing someone getting suspended for helping someone i stopped chatting entirely (and "took a break") -> after seeing this i feel it was the correct decision
Let the people use what they want as long as it only affects them and stop empowering the special snowflakes or they will bleed even more players

  14. I mean …. if you're gonna publically stream your screen, don't blatantly break rules, yea? Pretty simple stuff. Like, really fucking simple.
If you wanna mod, fine, whatever, but don't be freaking dumb.

  15. The FFXIV community was almost always known for their positivity and support but this just threw that all out the window. SE really needs to take into account mass reporting is an act of harassment in it's own way.
