  1. People just need to chill out, who cares how someone else experiences a video game. Harassing Quin because of his opinions is kinda cringe tbh.

  2. There's nothing wrong with story skipping. There's nothing wrong with Boosting. What's wrong is if someone has the audacity to complain about the game just because they don't understand shit, shit they should have understood only if they didn't story skipped or boosted.

  4. Well, FF14 community is like WoW community 10 years ago. They love their favourite game so if someone talks sh*t to it, what will you expect to happen, lol. As long as the devs listen to the fan base, the community will be over-protective of the franchise.

Just imagine if you said something bad to Blizzard in 2009, WoW, SC, Diablo communities at the time would make you want to hide from the Internet, lol.

  5. A.R.R is pretty abysmal (the new streamlined one, can't say about the original one, I only played it to lvl 20 or something back then). Not just as an MMO but as a game in general.
It was mind-numbing and I almost quit multiple times.
Throughout the entirety of my almost 150 hours in A.R.R I was contemplating the idea of cleaning my room, doing the dishes and mowing the lawn. It was that mind-numbing to the point that menial house work looked infinitely more engaging. No joke. The entire time I couldn't stop thinking "Why am I wasting my time with this when I have literally lover 1000 other games that are infinitely better that I could be enjoying right now?".
The story is pointless, the VA is rooooooughhh. It has no challenge at all, you just need to spam 1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3 for over 100 hours.
It was VERY tough to get through.

The moment it finished it started getting substantially better tough (story/VA/challenge/class gameplay) and I can't wait for Heavensward and beyond. I feel like Quin didn't have the patience to stick it out, boosted to get to the "fun" stuff as quickly as possible and by missing all the hundreds of hours of context/learning, he was super lost and that was the final straw.

I really wish SE would find the time to redo the entirety of ARR. It's a very bad first impression. It has almost not redeeming qualities.

  6. This shows me that the FF14 community is no different then kpop and minecraft stans. You guys are so upset over a few text over the internet by 1 guy who didn't enjoy the game and are on a witch hunt to shut him down.

Not everyone gunna like the game, deal with him.

    "Learn the game properly"
No, it's not fair to ask someone to sit through gameplay and content they find boring to learn it properly. This is not the fault of him but the fault of the game itself for not being able to grab his attention early on.

And admit it, this has been FF14 weak point and before Asmongold and CohhCarnage even started the game, EVERYONE was telling them that "ARR sucks", "early game is boring". But they so happened to enjoy the story and gameplay to continue learning more of it.

  7. The main story of ARR is really good, the issue I personally had was with the after story quests between ARR and Heavensward, it felt like it took absolutely forever and when I was finally done, turns out you have to do the entirety of the Crystal Tower series. I know it's been streamlined time and time again but goddamn it felt like a chore.

  8. ARR wasn't bad at all. But I admit it frustrated me when I played through it the first time. I reached level 50 about a week after HW was released and was all excited about going into the new content only to learn I had a ton of stuff to do before I could access it. It didn't help that everyone in my FC was going on and on about how good HW is. I reached level 52 before I was finally able to start HW content. So it was frustrating as hell at the time. But looking back I realize how important it all is to the story later on.

  9. I think Quin wanted to be THE guy who didnt like it.
so he thought to himself "what if I boost and I die a lot and say how the game isnt made properly?" and when he did it he didnt think to himself "what if people just say Im dumb?"

  10. The problem is he boosted, played like a pepega and then said game sucks w/o understanding or reading. Like when the boss is doing a long ass earthquake cast and you have an ability called levitate, maybe you should press it (any rpg player with common sense could figure this out). His criticism was unfounded, because the things he critisized, he didn't play. He did sastasha, arrogantly boosted thinking he was good, got his ass handed to him, then got frustrated because he couldn't beat this "easy" game and quit. He literally reviewed it like a game journalist who has to write a review in 5 days.

  11. I remember the extreme trials. Titan took me a long time to get through and even then I died last minute before the clear, so it only felt like a partial victory… given the difficulty at that time (initial launch of the game) I did not bother to try for another clear lol.

I've been with ff14 since beta, so it was extremely hard for me to walk away from it after my father passed away. I didn't have a choice. I still miss it to this day and wish I could go back into it, but it won't be happening anytime soon. Too many responsibilities irl to be able to have even 30min to login at this point.

  12. I agree taking your time and doing all the content is the best way to go about it, but this guy didn't end up with the opinion he had because he rushed. I know plenty of people that rushed to the endgame and love it. This fool came in trying to prove it was a "bad game", he never had any intention of enjoying the game or learning how to play it at all. He just wanted to jump in and complain and that's what he did.

  13. I started recently and had no issue with the story even in ARRi really enjoyed it and multiple jobs on one char is a lot of fun. My issue is I’ve spent 2 days now doing near 0 xp level 50 quests as some sort of heavensward intro. That part is bullshit and it’s really putting me off, getting no meaningful gear or xp for two days even with interesting story is bs

  14. I remember watching a clip he got hit by 3 aoes in the span of a second then he blamed the healers. As a healer main I don't mind being blamed when I mess up but when its your fault from getting hit by 3 aoes and not knowing how you died then blaming me cause you were too oblivious to even see what hit you that just made my skin itch.

regarding ARR I think some people think ARR bad due to it is a bit slow to get you out of the "training wheels" phase. I feel up to titan everything feels slow and hand held and still world building. but after titan it is like ok you are someone important now things are more than you are just some adventurer and forces of good and evil have their eyes on you.

  15. Idc how he is or isn't and does or doesn't do a character in his streams for games. Sadly for this game, his "character" didn't work for FFXIV. Because of how you need to go through the game, to have an actual liable opinion. Cool, go ahead and boost when you've already been through the story and you don't wanna lvl a character like normal whatever. But definitely don't skip when you're new and then bitch when you're confused when you finally get where the big kids are.

  16. Morale of the story if you're starting FFXIV DON'T BUY THE STORY SKIP! You will feel like a goddamn moron later.
What Quin clearly failed to realize is there is a HUGE difference between reading cliffnotes of lore and EXPERIENCING IT FIRSTHAND. If you buy a story skip to rush to Shadowbringers and not see the story up to that point yourself then your opinion on it will be extremely jaded and kinda invalidated as you will know bugger all and you will clearly lack the EMOTIONAL INVESTMENT that builds with a long story like this.
Skipping not only will fail to teach you mechs of dungeons and raids but you will have no goddam clue on how your classes work and in Ex/Savage content you will get you ass chewed out if you dunno what you're doing with your class while dealing with the literal cluster** of overlapping mechanics that some bits of content can be like.

You want an honest opinion of a veteran WoW players experience of FFXIV go watch Medieval Marty. He was a WoW player for 15 years and left it for FFXIV.

  17. Even for someone who doesn’t like reading i am still enjoying this game for its aesthetic, community, and art style. I skip a lot of the text cutscenes, but i love to sit and listen to the dubbed ones. If i could somehow have the text cutscenes be text to speech i would probably start listening to those too.

  18. Anyone who hates reading and attempts to read this game will not play it. I enjoy reading, I am in Heavensward and as I thought – the story is overall shit. An hour of boring lame ass filler for maybe a 5 minute event and cutscene that is actually good.

  19. Quin is a liar… If he simply did not like the game, fine… But he claimed he would give the game an honest shake and he never did. That's why he is eating all this flack.

  20. I think its more people dont like people who talk shit with no arguments and be jackasses about it
for example: He's like an idiot on twitter
Idiot on twitter: does dumbshit, blames everything on everyone else
Quin69: does dumbshit, blames everything on everyone else
