The primals of Final Fantasy XIV: What's their deal, anyway?

Primals are perhaps the biggest central part of Final Fantasy XIV’s story and world; more than the Scions, the Ascians, the Empire, or even the central conflict the entire game thus far has been about, people know ‘just know I’ll kill your god if I have to. Maybe even if I don’t.’

So let’s dive into it! Let’s start studying primals, starting with the most familiar ones to the description the game first gave us!

  1. And then there's Shinryu. Not based on a god, summoned as a being of pure anger and vengeance, and then… Zenos uses the Echo to merge himself with the primal! And he can (with extra aether) re-summon it later?!?
