Final Fantasy XIV has been an amazing experience so far and I have to say that I haven’t been able to describe the positive feelings that I’ve felt until now.

Hope you get your own yoshi-p interview and mediatour in 2 years maybe! 😀
I am not crying, you are crying! sniff
Yeah, it seems SE knows their whales in game but doesn't cater just to them. I also love the joke they created when they put an actual whale mount in the MOG station
I think Yoshi loosing a friend to cancer (not Soken) last year is part why he acknowledges others who are suffering.
I am an MMO whale. The reason SE gets the whale money is because they don't make me feel like I'm FORCED to give them the whale money.
I've played so many other games, especially gacha games, where I feel like I HAVE to spend that money that it leaves a nasty taste in my mouth when I pull out the credit card.
FFXIV, I want some jet black dye, I buy it and move on. I don't feel coerced or forced. It's just there.
Yoshi and the gang knows that they will never get another chance if they fail. That instill a sense of humility in them and combined with the passion that they already have for the genre made it to be a unique experience. That being said, while there are times when I feel frustrated in the game, its rarely due to the developer's failure.
Beside Bozja and Eureka, fuck them.
Chad: talking about FFXIV
Youtube: NAH, HE'S TALKING ABOUT FFXVI.
Yoshi-P showing human decency is a reason why I'm subbed to FFXIV even when I don't have the time to play the game. I want to support these decent people. What's so sad is that this used to be common in the West too.
I think it speaks volumes that creative business unit 3 now has its logo front and center of all their trailers, the true test will be when ffxvi comes out
Japanese in general are very respectful.
Its amazing how it all comes around – I actually buy overpriced stuff from the store & leave happy, knowing I helped in some small way to support a community I love so much.
All of this care and willingness to go above and beyond is the FF14 and more specifically the Yoshi-P Team, not Square Enix. To make the distinction is important because the other side of the coin is what Square Enix is doing with the Marvel's Avengers game.
I dont have gaming pc and im ex runescape and only very little wow and cabal online… and u dont see my self playing any other mmo then ff14 non get beat it atm … time respect is very important to me… but also love to play pubg new state and valorant … vrchat…
You'd think that these simple/easy-to-understand concepts would be the norm, right? It makes common sense. But as I've learned, common sense is not quite so common. =/
Respect between devs and players is so important. Like what has been alluded to in the comments, playing an mmorpg is basically an investment. You invest your time, support, and money into said mmorpg. If you don't feel like the returns (community, communication, gameplay, etc) on said investment are worth it, you will definitely find something else to invest in that has better/greater returns.
I was talking to a streamer a while ago about the FF14 live letters and how they're at 67. And they were shocked at how long the recent live letter was and I laughed. I let the streamer know that they try to give you as much info as they can about patches and updates so you're not left completely in darkness and that they will explain their reasoning about changes to be made. They were just amazed.
Sometimes you don't really know how good you have it until you go/play/try something else…
I've been playing FFXIV on and off for about seven years now and every time I come back, it's like coming back home. You are right, what goes around comes around. You can tell that Yoshi-P and his team care about the game, about us. They listen and if possible, try to make suggetions work, if it's in their power to do it. The recent live letter showed it again. People have been asking for more hairstyles on Viera and Hrothgar for a while now and they said it will take time to implement them, now they will come for 6.0 and 6.1 + more in the future. They bring male Viera and female Hrothgar into the game, despite that they didn't even want to add any more races, cause it's a huge amount of work to do it. They decided to do it anyway, cause of so many players asking for it. These guys are insane and one can't help, but love them for it.
And it just feels wholesome, seeing so many new people in the game. Just hearing how much they enjoy it and how much they love the community, it puts a smile on my face every time. I for one I'm happy to have all of you here!
In blizzard’s wow, I used to buy the sparkle pony and such to support them but it quickly fell through after WOTLK. I gave up wow in 2012 fully after having played FFXIV from 2011.
Even in 1.0 I felt the devs genuinely meant it when they said they would fix things and I felt a warmer community as well
And now in FFXIV, I keep max retainers and tends to but most mounts and outfits willingly as I honestly feel that the money gets put back into FFXIV and not into Bobby koticks bonus payment
I need to go to a fan fest next time as I need to thank him and his team personally for 10 amazing years. All the previous FFs I couldn’t go due to injury, surgery and money issues. For SHB FF I was ready to go, but then covid ruined that chance :/
Agree
Someone said it before me so I can't take credit, and I won't be able to quote it verbatim but this is the gist of it: From an optimistic point of view, Yoshi-p actually cared enough to look into the background of those he was interviewing enough to be able to ask about Asmon's mom. And even from a cynic's point of view, it showed he was sharp and professional, which isn't a bad thing either.
Personally I'd like to think he's a genuine person overall, but with all of the cooperate crap most have had to deal with (I never played WoW but I dealt with Diablo and Overwatch nonsense from them), I think people having doubts is justified on their end.
I don't even play FF14 but honestly, people like you really made me love the journey people are going through. That's why I subscribed and like hearing thoughts you share like this video.
Yeah, idk even when they make decisions the community isn't always happy with, I feel like there's a mutual respect where the devs want to hear what they can do to change it, and players have several avenues to reach out and give feedback.
Players are treated more like investors, it's our money that keeps the game going, us playing that keeps the community healthy. They meme sometimes, but don't talk to us like we're stupid
