  1. There is the ocean fishing feature where you go fishing with a couple randos on a boat every 2 hours and earn points for fish deppending on rarity arcade style with the possibility of earning battlepets/minions, titles and mounts… aside from that yeah fishing is fun, they made it better with the recent gatherer overhaul.

  2. Yup! I swapped from WoW to FFXIV back in February 2021.

TLDR; Am a roleplayer, WoW's story is a big yikes, I currently hate it. It took me FOREVER to swap, but with how WoW's going… I'm REALLY glad I left. Nothing interesting being added for someone like me anytime soon.

The story of FFXIV is amazing, it appeals to me pretty well. Took me a bit to get into it but now I'm a strong fan 🙂

  3. I like ur competition perspective 🙂 – I play both, still think WOW is fun after a new patch comes and I think the PVP is fun – and doing the raid a few times…BUT FF feels more alive right now, so thats very positive – and fun 🙂

  4. You have to do the story to get all the fishing locations, but you can spend hours upon hours fishing. Getting all the fish can be super fun and, if you're down for simple stuff, go mining or farming. Next Expac is even adding a personal farm. Farming mounts would require doing some basic raiding but a lot of it you can power through at max level

  5. I think crendor would rather like ff14, especially the fishing. I would NOT start fishing until retainers are unlocked though, because holy crap the sheer number of fish. You DO have to immerse yourself in the story though, otherwise youre just skipping the game… I would love to see some pointless top 10s of eorzea!

  6. Crafters and Gatherers ONLY need 1 combat class to progress Story, then theres a hole new World of systems, mechanics and zones designed just for crafters and gatherers.

  7. FF14 is pretty bland game squeezes you through the story like tooth paste and there’s no community driven stories or events because it’s PvE only and Open world PvP is fundamental for player driven story.

  8. I burned the bridge with Blizzard, even submitting an account deletion request (they still haven't responded). I'm waiting for the FFXIV servers to stabilize before starting in earnest but even if I decided to not play it I am absolutely not going back to WoW.

WoW is the highschool crush who is bad for you; you think it is true love at first so you hang on longer than you should even breaking up and getting back together multiple times. However as it got worse and worse there is a certain point that you decide enough is enough and leave, in my case it was a messy break up.

  9. If u do try it, play it to at least level 30, this game has a slow start but it really gets going after level 30/40, besides, if u don't like a class u can just try another one once u are past lvl 10.
I had to actually try the game twice before i got into it, mainly becouse i'm a lore and story guy and i still needed to purge myself of all the WoW lore before i could fully get into it.

and if its not your thing but u still want to try something other then WoW, plenty of MMO's coming out right now so plenty of choice.
And trust me, u don't need to be a FF fan to play FF 14, wich is one of its best points.

  10. Yes you can just fish and yes the fishing is fantastic. I’ve hated fishing in every other game but LOVE fishing in ffxiv. There is solo fishing, legendary fishing, and ocean fishing with a group. You can get pets and mounts solely from fishing. It’s the only gathering profession in ffxiv that I will do and I love it

  11. I don't think I'll be playing FF and I'm still having fun with wow. But as you said, this situation is not bad for wow. I really think it will serve as motivation to improve the game. Competition is good.

  12. I am in a raiding guild. on paper. in reality it is a fishing guild. so yeah, there is over 1000 fish to catch and completing the fish atlas might take you months. there even is a group content for fishers, where you catch fish to complete objectives and score points

  13. There is an ENTIRE ENDGAME for Fishing. It's mostly just filling out your fishing log, getting achievements, getting special items, and just learning how the system works as a whole. It takes a ton of stuff into consideration including your skill, special unlock books so you can catch certain fish, weather in the zone, time of day, the bait you're using, and in some rare cases it also requires you to catch certain fish in order before catching the special ones. I freakin' LOVE it.

  14. Have your sins been forgiven today and forever?  Think about this.   The God of the bible,  the One True God made us to worship him, obey him, and enjoy him forever.   We break His laws daily by not putting Him first, not thanking Him like we should, we lie, we lust, we have sex before marriage, we dishonor our parents, we covet things other people have, we take God's name and use it in vain,  we use it in a low manner,  sometimes as a cuss word,  (God is holy and even His name is holy),  we don't love like we should, etc.  In doing so we're saying He's not a good provider,  He's a liar,  He's untrustworthy,  He's not worthy of praise.   All these things and more are counted against us.   The bible says God is the just judge of the world and one day He will settle the score for all the wrong we've done.  God is holy meaning He is righteous (morally perfect in thought, word,  and deed)  It also means He is set apart and higher than us.  God  being good, must punish all sin or wrong doing in the world.  This means that if you sin one time God will cast you in hell for eternity.   Because He is good and He doesn't turn a blind eye to sin.  But there is good news.  2000 years ago Jesus the Son  of God came into this world and lived a perfect life ( He never sinned once)  and He died on the cross taking the wrath that we deserve and paid the penalty for the sins we committed.   The bible says that if you will repent (confess and forsake your sins)  and trust in what Christ did on the cross (He took the wrath of God that was meant for you and I) then all your sins will be forgiven and when you die you will be in heaven with God and all who believe for eternity.  Jesus died and on the third day He rose from the grave.  Get right with God today don't wait.  Once you die after that comes the judgement.  Hebrews 9:27 It's the most important thing you can do.   You must be born again John 3:7 If you repent and trust in what Christ did on the cross it shows that you've been born again or born spiritually.   Right now you're dead in your sins and you can't see the beauty of Jesus Christ but after you trust in Christ all the things you hate about God like obeying him,  serving Him,  loving Him and others,  reading the bible, praying and going to church you will love to do those things because God changes your heart.   That's how you know you have been born again and forgiven.  Please think long about this and ask me any questions you have as this is the most important thing you can ever think of in your life.   An eternity in hell (darkness and a lake of fire the bible describes it, with weeping and gnashing of teeth)  or an eternity out of that place and into the loving arms of God who is infinitely glorious, has infinite knowledge and has infinite power to do all that He pleases.   You decide.   Have a great day!

  15. I swapped and I'm having a blast so far. All other WoW issues aside (and there are MANY) I can't enjoy an MMO without a good story, and I have absolutely hated wow's story for years now. I followed the release of 9.1 without resubbing, and can confidently say I'm done. WoW uninstalled, battle net client deleted. The wow narrative has turned into a weird warcraft fanfic, and the gameplay is such that it's always better to play 'next' patch to save yourself from chores. Nobody is doing world quests or grinding anima because they are having fun right? From here on out it's FFXIV and OSRS (leagues!)for me.

  16. Playing TBC atm but havent played WoW Retail for over a year, so i am for sure going to try out FFXIV and play TBC on the side, "just raid logging" pretty much.

Last time i played FFXIV was back in 2017.

  17. Cutting my balls off with a rusty knife is better than running Torghast again. FFXIV is just another grindy non-action-combat MMO ultimately. It's what WoW used to be. Imagine Burger King started selling dogsh*t burgers instead of beef burgers. Mac D's would be "just another cheap burger joint", but since their rivals started serving sh*t, Mac D is the new place to go for cheap burgers.

  18. I swapped t o FFXIV and a general anger/depression faded when i dropped WoW. When a game you invested most of your life in has been failing you for nearly a decade it takes its toll. Now it feels like a weight has lifted.

  19. This just popped into my recommended. I'm curious if you are interested in fishing. Why not give sea of thieves a try? There's plenty of fishing with different kinds of environments and conditions for different kinds of fish.
