This wasn't my favorite chapter of the MSQ, but I really liked Xelphatol for a very unusual reason — years and years ago I had a dream of a place that looked a lot like the interior of the mountain, so seeing it in game was a really bizarre, but strangely nice, experience. Also, the music is really good.
If it was not mentioned by someone in the comments, the narrator is Papalymo.
I've always seen the contrast between Alisaie and Alphinaud this way: Alphinaud is a "big picture" thinker. He cares about nations, policies, and overall causes. He wants to save the whole planet. Alisaie, on the other hand, is a "small picture" thinker. She cares about the individuals she meets and forms bonds with along the way, and will lay down her life to save this one or that one that she loves. Both of them have their strengths and weaknesses, and both of them are equally caring, just with a different focus. And as you play, you will see each of the twins growing and learning to be more well-rounded. Alisaie learning the value of the big picture, and Alphinaud learning to value the details and individuals.
Back in 2.0, Titan HM was the hardest fight outside of Coils, since Extremes didn't exist yet. It was also required for both Coils and the Relic weapon, so lots of people were required to do it, and they probably didn't have good gear yet. The game also used to only update your position 3 times per second, so it was really common to get snapshot and killed by AoEs. And if they knocked you over the edge then you were down that player for the whole fight. Parties started to set a required HP minimum of 3500 to ensure that people would survive the roomwide AoEs Tumults. I remember when I first reached it after grinding dungeons for ilvl 70 gear for hours, and how excited I was that I could finally join my friends in the prog parties. Even all of these years later, because you did min ilvl, some people in your party had lower health than the damage from the roomwides 😂 Of course it's totally beatable, you just need to heal through it, but we were all really bad players back then and still learning how to play. The horrors we saw while wiping for hours. THE HORRORS. Even now I can tell what mechanic should happen next based purely on the music. It's like a primordial memory
