  1. AI has been used tons in the gaming industry in the background, from helping with upscaling textures to programmers using it to help with coding. It can suck alot of the time, especially when it effects jobs. 2023 though gaming was great, the industry had an incredible horrible year.

  2. I am going to keep an eye on Quinfall which is supposed to be using AI as part of their game. I know the subject has been broached before about what an AI game designed would look like. I could see it being a useful tool for creating environments based off prompts, and taking the load off developers so they can focus on other aspects of the game. The future will be interesting.

I feel Dawntrail is going to be a very important expansion. Not quite sure on what basis, but is going to be very important for the game goin forward.

  3. The problem with Square Enix is that they don't seem to be learning at all. Console and digital exclusivity is insane when a majority of your market is neither digital nor even on the Playstation anymore. Even FF16 at the most conservative is 60% physical and 40% digital. Combine that with the lackluster Front Mission remakes where they couldn't even do the one thing that fans asked for (use the FM5 mechanics) and it continues to show how out of touch Square Enix is. Heck, they don't even seem to be aware of the damage they're doing to the Dragon Quest franchise right now as they continue to push Dragon Quest action RPG spin offs instead of working on 12. The consumer confidence in the company is getting worse and people are only going to be more hesitant and wary of Square Enix products going forward before you even get into the existing doubts of AI and blockchain.

We already see individuals being able to put out amazing games. Bright Memory: Infinite and Stardew Valley were both created by individuals (not even teams) who taught themselves and built the games with what they could scrap together. Game creation tools are more powerful than they have ever been. The problem now is more about the revenue splits as everyone wants their share of the money from the game engine through to the payment processors. Heck, even advertisers want a cut now.

  4. I don't think any company will ever let you resell your digital games license. They have way to much control over it to let it go. Considering the EULA's you sign say you do not own anything.
