  1. I know it is to late but I hope you haven't been over hyped for heavensward don't get me wrong it is good, but it has become almost a meme at this point about how great heavensward is and i want to warn you they are including post heavensward when they are talking about it and even still i think it is a little over hyped. so try to go in with as little expectations as possible like you did with ARR and it should be fine, but I hope you enjoy the ride

  2. oh wow haven't seen the Rhitahtyn fight since they changed it! It used to be an 8 man duty, which it was 8 on 1, and he didn't do any fancy attacks, so it was the easiest fight in ARR, you just fucking melt the guy

  3. I'm really glad they improved the ending of ARR, back when I played it 2 years ago it was much more disappointing. The fight with twin shield guy was a full on boss trial with 8 people and the power creep meant he died in 20-30 seconds. The two dungeons were also 8 man (the only 8 man dungeons we had) and were basically long cutscene with a bit of running and ignoring every mobs, boss fights that took less than a minute and then more cutscenes. The final fight with the ultima weapon and lahabreha fights were also part of the dungeon, but by the time we reached Lahabrea we were already saying GG in chat because he died like a chump in a few seconds.

  4. Fun fact: The horror house robot arms used to be able to knock you out of Maggie if they hit you. As the arms and the final door are only kill-able with Maggie's weapons, if everyone got dismounted, you had to run ALL the way back to where you first picked up Maggie to remount and then run ALL the way back to where you got knocked off, and this section was even longer than it is now. Eventually a closer re-mount point was added at the start of the horror house section, and then the arms' knockoff ability was removed (it may still be there as it was damage gated, but they now hit like wet noodles so you have to be hit many times before being dismounted)

  5. The new Livia fight is so much better than the original one. In the past, the dungeon was an 8 person duty. But her boss mechanic was that she would target one person, and they would have to 1v1 her as she'd be immune to everyone else. So the remaining 7 people just had to twiddle their thumbs and stand on the sidelines and wait for cannons to activate that they could fire at her to deal damage. It was a very bizarre battle that confused the hell out of me the first time I got it. Also in terms of reworking the final stretch, originally all of the Praetorium, the Ultima Weapon, and Lahabrea used to be a single dungeon gauntlet from hell. I never got to experience that personally, as I took a several month break after Livia and by the time I got back they had changed it into the separate fights that we have today. Apparently back at launch players were allowed to skip cutscenes for that dungeon back then, so new players would often come out of a cutscene to find the entire dungeon already dead lol

  6. They made lahabread a challenge? niiice. before they reworked the dungeons and boss of this video, lahabread was a serious pushover that you fight with your group in the ultima weapon battle. Like his hp would hit zero in less than two minutes with hardly a fight.

  7. Maggie trivia: The reason Maggie is able to come back to save you after being completely drained at the cermet door is the mammet heart Alphinaud made you fetch during the rescue mission. Mammet hearts passively absorb aether to power the construct they're part of, and there was plenty of it floating around for her to power back up. She doesn't need fuel anymore–she can recover just by resting.

So, for once, running Alphinaud's errands gets you out of trouble. XD

  8. Congrats on finishing ARR! the unskippable cutscenes at the end are definitely a necessary evil – they make me feel cruel queuing for it for stuff like tomestone events as I don't want to subject people to all the cutscenes for no reason. but being someone who experienced it for the first time with skippable cutscenes… god it was hell for first time players. because the cutscenes were so long people would skip them and just carry on ahead, so my experience playing it was constantly running along empty corridors trying to catch up with everyone else. It was by far one of my worst experiences in the game. after this they learnt not to put so many cutscenes in the dungeons, now most of the lengthy ones happen after leaving the dungeon rather than on the boss dying.

  9. A Realm Reborn for me was " hm, this is quite decent, can compete with some WoW expansions and GW2 story seasons, why people say it's not that good?". Then I'd learned that it's not ARR is not good, everything else is even better.

  10. The end was actually more rushed before. Double shields was an 8 man joke of a trial that would end quicker than doing one full rotation and it was only good to meme on the sprouts. Then castrum would be a maze with barely any mechs and people would try to optimize every step to get out of it asap. And finally, praetorium used to be way longer, with a couple of noob traps and it would include the ultima weapon fight and a way lamer version of the Bread fight.

  11. 21:03 ngl, i had for the entirety of 2.0 not taken the ascians seriously in the slightest, just your everyday saturday villain. until they namedropped zodiark.
my first and still favourite final fantasy is 12, the game zodiark's from. he's one of the game's superbosses, and with me being VERY aware of the lore that guy had? i instantly realized that the ascians were NOT to be joked with, they're a legit threat! the NAME ALONE gave me chills and i went from smug to "oh… oh no…. oh… oh oh no…"

  12. Just kinda shows why the Garleans fear us so much when one WoL and his friends just trash through an entire keep and through so many soldiers, their robots and even their waking "tanks".
