  1. For every person complaining about not enough content, or claiming "ffxiv is in a downturn", there's 100s of thousands more in-game playing and enjoying it just as much as ever.
3 servers on Crystal were locked to new character creation for several hours last night. There's a queue to log in; I was at 64th last night.

The game is fine. It's in a perfectly predictable lull between major content updates.

All this "drama" is just certain creators looking for a way to keep engagement going on their channels/content, with everyone else hopping on the bandwagon.
They do not represent, nor speak for the FFXIV community at large. Not even close.

  2. I think mmorpg developers are over complicating things when developing mmorpgs. They should just simplify the game it self.

Make a open world sand box multiplayer game that can support 100-200 people per server, have housing, crafting, dungeon siege, farm simulation, flying mounts, pets, world bosses and so on.

The thing that made mabinogi very successful is the freedom they gave the players to do exactly whatever they want, and made the Main Story Quest optional. I remember when The Secret World made its debut and let the player explore the world regardless of wether they would play the MSQ or not. The in land enemies were very much challenging the more you travel further from the tutorial area. I think it’s those kinds of things that most developers forgot as to why players play to begin with.

It’s all about the ability to discover everything without having a set path to follow, and letting the player forge their own path regardless of how they choose to play.

  3. How ironic that FF11 and FF14 are 3 years apart, and now FF17 is being thought off, and somehow the “only solution” to fix FF14 is to make a brand new game – all the while, still keeping their fan base.

Basically what I’m saying is, FF17 could be the next final fantasy online game. 😅

  4. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I can't take someone seriously who is crapping on a game they spent 12k hours playing. He got way more than his monies worth. Eg: I played WoW from TBC to DF, I no longer play the game due to it not being for me anymore and sit hoping for classic plus. But I don't bash the game that gave me thousands of hours of fun and memories.

  5. The thing is that there is more hard content than ever for FF14. Dragonsong and Pandemonimum are some of the hardest raid content (Omega is lower). I would argue even the current Myths of the Realm is one of the hardest alliance raids we've had as well. The problem is that hard content isn't appealing to the general audience and this is where Endwalker is failing. People forget exactly how few people enjoy Savage or Exploratory Missions.

Crystalline Conflict and Island Sanctuary are great for your dedicated PvP and crafters. But for the general population? It's more of a "not for me" thing.

  6. FFXIV SHB content had Ishgaurd Restoration for crafters, Bozja for players that have large scale content and Ultimates. The only thing missing was Deep Dungeon. A lot of the changes were due to resources being shifted to improve the underlining systems for Dawn Trail.

  7. The video in question was made by a known drama farmer and childish complainer that hasn't played 14 in years. He popped back up on the scene just to farm money off the drama. It is a literal manufactured controversy. Keep in mind that Lynx has not played since before Endwalker. He doesn't know what content is in the game. He hasn't done any current content. That's why every clip of anything older than 6.0 is someone else's character. The game is, in no way, failing or going downhill. Was it missing a feature that some players would have liked to see in the form of Bozja or Eureka? Sure. But it has content that it didn't have before as well.

As far as his class balancing verbal sewage, he has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. He played 1 class. Simple math. 12,000 hours in 6 years but he engages in no content but savages and extremes. That means a couple of hundred hours raiding, maybe one ultimate, and about 11,500 AFK in Limsa. There isn't 12,000 hours of content in 4 expansions of only 8 man raids and UCOB, UWU and TEA. He's flat out lying.

  8. Hey Brian. Personal trainer here. It would be possible to lose 60 pounds before Dawntrail but just barely. If you are really on track and strict with diet and exercise, you should be losing 1-2 pounds a week.

Keep in mind that the weight comes off easier when you first start. So up until now you may be losing more per week, but it definitely slows down and drops off as the weight comes off

I’m sharing this mainly because people start getting discouraged through their weight loss journey since weight comes off faster in the beginning and slows down as you get closer to the end goal. So just keep focused and celebrate more so the feeling of having more energy, the mental health aspect, and just feeling good in general.

  9. I agree i think alot of the issues and changes that zepla and her comment section want would mean the game would need to completely change its design philosophy and how the game is played and i feel it would be rejected by a huge chunk of the community it would be better for yoshi p and square to make a brand new mmo if thats ff14 2 or ff17 and make it completely different to ff14 like release the new mmo but still support 14 so people have a choice

  10. The fact that Lynx hasn't played for 3 years, deleted his old video that was very similar to this one raises alot of red flags. Defintiely feels like it is just bait for views. Did it work? Sure. Personally I value my reputation over a one hit wondee video.

  11. 11:40 — This is actually a good point, and it could even give some procs that are only good in certain metas. The Endwalker crafter/gatherer tools give some minor procs which are ultimately mostly inconsequential, especially as the tools end up being outclassed by newer gear with better raw stats … but are useful in very niche situations.

I'm mostly thinking of the EW relic tool Brilliant Fishing Rod, which isn't best-in-slot even currently … but its procs are actually useful in Ocean Fishing where the stats don't matter once you have HW gear or better. DoW/DoM relics could do something similar, where the stats aren't BiS but that part doesn't matter when you're item level synched anyway.

  12. It’s funny seeing these videos noticing what I noticed from the jump, the formula. I give FFXIV a 10/10 for consistency, but consistency has just never been my cup of tea. The old term for it was the “loot treadmill”, which to me is subject to the law of diminishing returns. Pretty much I feel like anything I grind will be useless super fast, so I don’t care. – but hear me out, this is why I actually loved FFXI in the 75 era.

You could legit grab an item that’s not even level 20 and be using it all the way until the end game. There were legitimately overpowered items (like ridill and joyeuse) and legit iconic items (like Kirins Osode, Adaman Hauberk).. I can’t even remember anything from FFXIV other than “Relic” but can remember things from XI from 15+ years ago! With glamour you wouldn’t even know if anyone even picked up something new or what the new gear looks like with very few exceptions, and it has so little impact on the game it’s pointless.

But going back to consistency, early WoW and XI just broke the mold so many times. In WoW the vanilla raid tier looked nothing like Burning crusade, the WoTLK early focus on 25 man raids for the best gear was an awesome change to me. And shoot even thinking back to Cataclysm, that was a REAL big change. FFXI Chains of Promathia was a wild change and adventure compared to Zilart and vanilla (which I started on Zilart like most NA players)

This is longer than what I wanted to type, but I really think they should change the formula, or maybe it’s time for a new sandbox mmo from SE. I hate balance, I hate forced rotations, I hate everything important being locked behind duty finder, I hate pointless gear and minimal stat manipulation, I wish that making a bad build of a job was possible! I hate that someone can see every dungeon and fight every enemy even if they’re casual, I hate raid difficulty levels and don’t consider that to be “more content”

For a while I’ve been an “update” player, I think after the first endwalker update I’ve graduated to a expansion player. I’ll be back for the story, but this is just not an mmo to me. I just have to enjoy my nostalgia of the good ole days lol
