  1. Play online was way worse then mog station. You are right, The worst thing about FFXIV is buying the game. I feel bad for anyone that wants to buy a house in game. When I purchased mine I was the third house in the ward. I wish I took screenshots to show how empty housing wards were back then.

  2. Community in FFXIV is great, but the thing is, humanity has a common denominator in that people are both capable to being either great or terrible. Every community has their hits or misses, and it is disingenuous when people dismiss how good FFXIV Community is overall, specially when to pull the game down a peg when compared to WoW.

  3. The worst part is:

    a) serverticks/snapshotting system
-animations don't line up with the actual math

    b) why not infinite housing wards? Why not infinite glamours?
    – it really feels bad and they constantly make excuzes for that in liveletters plus Comunity white knights defending them

    c) no spellbuffering on spells in macros. That makes mouse over way worse and I love mouse over in other MMOs

    d) PvP doesn't get enough love.

    e) if places are heavily congested mobs and players unload. That's makes you die in hunt trains and also makes big RP events impossible.

Yeah these are my issues and I love the game.

  4. The worst thing about ff14 in my opinion is how brutal messing up in bozja can be, the mog station (buying the game), the lack of a collection system for appearances / glamour, and the horrible grind to get gear up (relics and 530 gear) I either have to find a hunt group which for some reason I can’t ever find, or grind out 54 nier raids (18 per tier) plus grind out 900 poetics a week somewhere around 5700 I believe (why is there a weekly cap AT ALL this late in the expansion, it’s already grindy enough getting the poetics with 20 per dungeon / raid clear which can take an hour or more sometimes) it would take 18 days for me just to get the coins necessary for one class / job. To get the poetics it will take around 6 weeks nearly 2 months. This is ridiculous and way too time consuming compared to the very stress free lvl 50-70 gear grind. Keep in mind this is just to gear ONE class / job, good luck gearing your other two main classes if you want that dps/healer/tank to swap between.

  5. Bwana my dude. Love the content. Love the wisdom. I would add one thing to the con list that wow people will be seeing but 14 might miss.

Job homogenization. How they basically broke off half of bard and made it dancer. They've trimmed some of the uniqueness out of jobs every expansion since heavensward. This is a touchy topic, could argue in both directions, but my raid community quit because lack of job diversity and game play depth.

    Keep it up dude.

  6. Housing is foolish. However, there was a point where housing was available everywhere. I walked up to an empty plot and there was no competition for it. I bought it on my birthday for a very cheap price. A couple of years ago, I moved my FC across from my personal home. I didn't have any problems. I feel sorry for you guys.

  7. The "Additional Plots and Purchasing Guide" is all about how to acquire a house. And it doesn't seem to do what it's saying.

Land Acquisition Limit per Service Account

Required Number of Free Company Members

    Emptied Plots

You name it… None is properly explaining why you cannot buy a house.

I've seen a group of players "camping" the Placard for hours

    and then

a Sprout came and buy the house with one click on the Placard.

That guide is useless if used to grab an understanding of this system.

Island Sanctuary might be set to unlock gardening to all players and not binding the feature to Housing. At this point, who knows?

  8. I think for beginners the Mog station is pretty bad. Now that I'm use to it I don't find it as annoying. I remember basically having to read a guide when I created my first account and downloaded to play a trial – this was during 2.0. I will say the trial period as definitely improved – I think I got maybe 48 hours the first time I tried this game for free. It honestly felt useless since I would have had to power level to get a feel for certain content. I think I gave up before I could even use the time I had left.

The bag space does suck, especially the inability to expand. I have 2 retainers and I use my chocobo bag. I never seem to be capable of storing anything in the armory chest – not sure what I'm missing there. If it's what I think it is – that all items stored have to be fully repaired – then that's stupid and frustrating. Why does it matter if it's fully repaired if I'm not using it and why is it anyone's businesses if I want to store some half-broken crap? LOL

Loading screens for moving from zone to zone doesn't bother me, but I also play ESO which does the same thing. In ESO there are some areas you may move between with no loading screen, but if you go into your home, a big city, a cave, an NPC's house etc you will get a loading screen in ESO. I'm actually okay with these tradeoffs if it means a better game and better stories in my mmoRPG.

  9. as a wow refugee the thing i most dislike is the "interface user experience" i am not talking about HUD, i am talking about, u are on a dungeon, want open a door? "are u sure u want open this door? ", managing items slots on retairens are a disgusting, i loved the crafthing system but i spend 6x more time trying to find itens and managing inventory than playing..

  10. Haha, I bought the game through Steam in 2014, and I felt every word you said about buying expansions so much! IDK why game companies don't place more value in streamlining the systems that let people throw money at them. Turbine/SSG, the developer for DDO and Lord of the Rings Online, has the same problem.

  11. I still feel an odd amount of guilt for the situation that led to me buying my small in game. In 2020, they froze housing demolitions due to COVID-19. They reinstated them, and all the demolition timers that had been frozen for months went off at the same time. On my server, that translated to about 100 houses across all the housing districts popping open at once.

I spent 7 hours. 7 hours. Clicking placards. Over and over. While there were at least 99 other open plots, so I wasn't facing competition. I lost some, I eventually won my small in the goblet.
And every once in a while, I remember that I only have a house in this game because someone couldn't pay their sub during a global pandemic.
    It's real messed up.

  12. Even in Savage+ honestly if you're not going for week 1 clears, no one cares about what job you bring as long as you're not bringing any dupes (which makes since with dupe buffs overwriting each other) thanks to how balanced they all are. There is a meta out there (GNB,PLD,AST,SCH,SAM,DNC,BLM,NIN) but it doesn't apply to anything outside of week 1 clears, world first clears, and breaking records. If you're out puging Savage or Ultimate just to get your clears in, the only kind of job push-back you're gonna get is don't bring the same thing as someone else, no dupes.
Which is incredible to think about, I've been playing MMOs for around 25 years and balancing to that degree is unheard of, there will always be that 1 class that is just so much better at its job than the rest, so if you want to fill a role, you better be playing the meta job or gtfo. Not with FF14 though

  13. i had 320 hours in the free trial and i was no where near hw :^) when i got to hw i decided to buy the game , and im genuenly not regreting it , commin in as a wow refugee , this game feel high key unreal from a community stand point , ofc like every online game there are the few petty bunches , but in this game's community that's a really small percentage , unless u have acces to novice network where oh boy …… , but yeah i went from wow where i was told to kill my self by other 18 people in a raid cuz i died once as a tank and beeing harassed n stuff , to this were i wiped countless time on trash pulls due to me not noing how to use rampart or arm's lenght for example, and everyone was "oh it happens , dw , here's how u do this" or doing World of darkness for the first time , where everyone my raid group wiped on 4% cloud , leaving me the newbie warrior alive , trying to clutch it and everyone was really positive and on going like " u can do this n make sure to time ur invicibility so u can burst it down in time" and due to their help i managed to clutch it , was really wholesome and as i said i'll never regret spending 45 euros on this game , and as my final thought , y'all ff14 community people u guys are amazing and thank u all for being so nice to everyone and every new player that takes "refuge" in 14 nowadays :D.

  14. Love the original content! I know “reaction videos” are all the rage on YouTube these days, but yeah, it is nice to have a balance so you don’t end up a feed with a video and 3 different reactions to the same video. As for the FF community, it’s amazing! I’ve been dc’d for quite a few minutes and returned with no grouching, people even waiting for me patiently. Even when I’ve screwed up and gotten one-shot not a single time did anyone make a snide comment. And no random slurs… such a welcome relief compared to WoW!

  15. I think it’s cool instead of flaming for the negativity you received, you made a video about something requested. Good mentality and what a cool thing to do. I don’t mind any of the content you make. I haven’t watched it all but from what I’ve seen it’s been lighter takes and you are having a good time. Which in turn makes it fun to watch thanks a bunch man!

  16. I was a WoW player and I tried FF14 in Heavensward, but the weirdness with the engine made me ragequit. I started playing again earlier this year and leveled multiple jobs to 80 and have really enjoyed it, but yeah, it took a long time to give the game another chance.

  17. Great video! All of my complaints about the game have historically been focused on what I called 'technical jank,' but Crystal Tools Funk sounds better. My biggest gripe has been with the tab-targeting system. Not only does it feel relatively unresponsive (netcode?), but I regularly end up targeting enemies much farther away than the ones I'm actually trying to attack. I've tried every different targeting configuration and the problem persists. It doesn't happen in every encounter, but it happens often enough that it can't be ignored.

  18. Every time I hear housing mentioned, I'm reminded of how I lost my large house that I had since HW at the start of this year during a small break and am stuck reprogging housing savage, now with more competition 😀

  19. Thankfully, I beat MogStation Ultimate on the first attempt! The only thing I lost was the use of my secondary e-mail (which I use for signing up to most games by e-mail). It was a worthy sacrifice…! lol

  20. I don't care for the music. Granted, there's a lot of nostalgia with the older FF with that style of music…. however, I prefer the epic adventure feel with my MMO's. And this is one point where games like WoW and Skyrim and SWTOR have one edge over FFXIV.
For the one thing that I dislike about FFXIV, I can name about ten things I enjoy about FFXIV.
