  1. The WoL simply should not have been present for that cutscene. Considering everything the WoL has been through and the enemies they have vanquished it makes no sense that they would simply passively spectate, or be unable to prevent, a freaking murder taking place in front of them.

And the filler quest in the fourth zone completely killed my enjoyment of the game.
"Oh do be careful, dear WoL, to not harm any of the murderers and robbers who just kidnapped someone."
    or
"We're having a duel! Isn't that exiting? But don't worry, it's perfectly safe. We're using rubber bullets, after all. Wouldn't want anyone getting hurt, would we?"

Who wrote this and why didn't anyone stop them?

  2. The random aversion to killing in critical story scenes that isn't observed during general play was just weird. I don't know if it was supposed to be a reference to Saturday morning cartoons that had to do quick edits for the censors but it felt really out of place.

"No WoL, we are the good guys, good guys never kill people. Rubber bullets only."

"You do realize that I likely have a higher Garlean killcount than Bahamut, right?"

  3. I agree with Preach's sentiment that they tried to do too much in this MSQ. Nothing got the time it needed to breathe and there were a number of decisions made that look really dumb with the characters that are present.

Frankly, I think the first fix for it would be to not have any of the Scions there other than the WoL for everything prior to the Vanguard dungeon. Have the WoL decide to go west with Wuk Lamat and Erenville after meeting her in 6.5 and have it be just them. Have them travel with Wuk Lamat and do the the MSQ as it is with just them up until the events of the invasion of Tuliyollal. Have the WoL be waylaid by the stone robot army so they don't reach the battle between Galool Ja Ja and Zarool Ja until after Zarool Ja reawakens and then wins. At that point, call in the Scions to face this now impending invasion force. There are some other things I would fix in the second half, but this fix solves a lot of what is wrong with the first half of the MSQ, which is generally the more disliked portion.

  4. "We must understand them" even if they are the enemy "We must understand them".
Even if they are going to get deleted anyway "we must understand them".
Even if they were the reason our people died "we must understand them".

  6. I have NO trust in these DT writers. They wrote bad dialogue for young children who might buy this garbage despite having IMMEDIATELY experience evidence to the contrary. SE Writers: "We don't have to show them trying anything, we'll just say we did, and because we said it, it will be so, despite evidence to the contrary". This occurs, CONSTANTLY, with attempts at egregiously manufactured sympathy/pity/concern/etc that is neither earned or makes sense given what immediately precedes or follows the bad dialogue. Remember that time Wuk Lamat attacked Bakool Ja Ja, was deflected, landed on her feet, and people immediately "thought you were dead!" Or that time Papa spoke 2 lines over 9 seconds and immediately transitioned into "But ive talked long enough!"

  7. Oh yeah the one ost that sounded like I was sitting through a curtain call of a broadway musical? Amidst some other genuine bangers on this expac’s ost that one felt so fucking weird to me. wtf lol

  8. There is nothing worse than the anime trope of "Let me 1v1 the bad guy, it's my responsibility/my honor."

Imagine if someone was trying to kill your friend and they yelled out, LET ME HANDLE HIM DONT INTERFERE and they fucking die even though we coulda helped. Fucking illogical.

  9. Worst MSQ, ever. No we are not debating this, especially not with bad faith individuals who try and peddle the lie that it’s just a slow start when DT is an open-close story that barely leaves one future plot hook by the end, and not a particularly interesting or well built up one.

  10. "We trust in the FFXIV writers" Yeah no, I don't. Hiroi, the lead writer for Dawntrail, is well known for his boring and stupid stories. Preach needs to stop coping. He lowered his standards so much that he even calls Wuk Lamat's english voice acting "fantastic", even though you can literally see him physically recoil during some of the especially bad line deliveries. FFXIV is a good game, and this MSQ was not good. There's no need to sugarcoat it, SE isn't a small indie company.

  11. Preach is right in his reactions. It's hard to believe, that this story was made by the same people who delivered Endwalker. It's at best a 3/10 if Endwalker release was an 11/10.

  12. I just stopped after getting to the last zone, i think lv100 msq.
It was so painful getting there that I just said this is not worth my time.
Got rid of my sub, and am going to take a long break and wait for 8.0, for a review before I ever buy the expansion again for ff14.
Battle content is nice and all, but the story was what kept me interested in the other stuff.
They didnt even need to have any big plots, it literally was suppose to be a nice relaxing time, and Estinein is the only one that actually went to relax, and I was stuck with the fucking cat, totally stupid.
Atleast they should have made her stay back after 1st half was done, so I could slog through the 2nd half without the stupid cat not in my face every quest.
Totally killed any interest I have for the plot of the game and any interest I have for next expansion, I really hope I get back the interest after a long break..

  13. I mentally quit around lvl 95 or so. I play XIV for the story, and it's just super bad in DT.
Would rather play through the whole pre-nerf-ARR-sludge again than ever think about DT again.
