Tank Problems in Endwalker Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Patch 6.3

In Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker, it seems like the role with the most issues is Tanks. Whether it’s job balance, or job design tanks have had a lot of controversy. So, let’s talk about Tank Drama and Problems in FFXIV.

  1. I think Heres some general Changes to tanks I'd wanna see, Mainly War/PLD should generally be considered survivability tanks but not super far behind GNB/DRK
    1. Obviously close the gap, between all tanks, but WAR/PLD should be ever so slightly behind gnb/drk
    2. With Paladin, I'd make some of its utilities such as Cover/clemency more useable, With clemency you could make it a ogcd apart of your MP management (where as spamming it will still result in dps loss through not being able to use magic attacks) but using it wisely will grant you some strong healing utility that fits the job, With cover you could increase its range and take it off the gauge, you could likely add something similar to astro where the target would benefit to any healing effects plds give out to another player, also would be nice if wings weren't just a cone you had to weave but not that important its still kinda useful, Keep in mind PLD still has A. The longest Invul and B. still weakest damage, so its fine if PLD becomes the KING of utility.
    3. With warrior in general I'd keep it pretty much the same, just increasing its burst DPS seems like the best choice, I will say more chances to use holm gang, I remember the first tier warrior was actually amazing at cheesing stuff, It deserves to have a bit more cheese then the other tanks in my opinion.

  2. Yes the Best Prog tank should be buffed….

Look, not every class needs big dmg numbers. Other exist for different reasons, War is a very hard to kill tank. Yea DRK has an opener that does more dmg than some DPS, but dark is also missing a cool down if fighting a boss that only does physical dmg, trust me you feel that in dungeons. PLD nor war need big numbers, they are excellent tanks to prog with and the effort healers spend healin another tank can be put into their DPS.
War doesn't need buffs, if anything PLD needs them.

  3. the whole "WAR should do less damage than others due to its high survivability" is the stupidest thing i keep hearing about, at first glance it might look like this invincible juggernaut but in actuality its far from the truth.

check DRK for example, it has extra cooldown in form of Oblation that it can even share with other tank/party members, TBN has only 15 sec CD so you can spam that 40% more than bloodwhetting or HoC, Dark Mind only has 60 second CD so you can have that for almost every tank buster or even raidwide AOE casts (while yes, it ONLY blocks magic damage, almost every raid in EW has magic damage TB:s and AOE:s cuz DRK players keep crying about physical damage constantly).

then we have GNB, HoC is far better for mitigation than bloodwhetting cuz 15%+15% mitigation on HoC is better than 10%+10%+small shield on Bloodwhetting, then you have auroras that you can (again) share with your group members for extra healing, and then there is also just passive 1-2-3 combo healing where brutal shell not only heals the same amount as storms path, it also shields you for that amount, so you get double the healing from your 1-2-3 combo aswell

so in summary: while WAR is pretty poggers in dungeons, and it has good self healing abilities, so has other jobs, DRK is absolutely insane in raids cuz almost all bosses do 90% of their damage as magic and it has smaller cooldowns so you can spam them more, i don't hate any of the tanks, but the fact that people say that WAR needs to have lower damage cuz it has highest survivability proves to me that players have no experience nor knowledge of tanking or raiding

  4. in my opinion, WAR is doing just fine. 4-minutes recast invulnerable is way more helpful than a few %dps when I'm learning the fight.
And for PLD, I think it's fine that board and sword man are doing the least dps,
maybe lean more on utility by making Clemency oGCD or lower cover recast and I'm happy with the dps gap as is right now.
