Summoner, summery, somebody
SMN main here, I ventured into Aorzea at towards the end of Stormblood, enjoyed SMN since the beginning of my FFXIV experience. I’m just so excited to try SMN as a brand new job this upcoming expansion.
Also, emerald rite is lower potency because it has a much shorter recast than topaz rite.
Definitely going SMN with my friend, just set up a couple glams last night.
I Started as arcanist because I liked the looks, then I learned that they evolved into summoners and I was happy about it. I was kind of disappointed for the egi forms, but I eventually was fine with it. Now this is quite exciting!
Summoner something somebody?
I can already see how they could further develop summoner for 7.0 xD
Instead of repeating the same elemental summons for the pheonix into bahamut cycles they could add three new elemental summons with their own unique gimicks. (perhaps Shiva, Levi, and Ramuh) I think one of the best things about this new direction is they can have the ability to do so much with less button bloat. I've always been a fan of less buttons, but more variation.. meaning that the buttons you do have alter and change based on different circumstances.
Summoner summoning something
As a SMN main who has genuinely enjoyed every version (from HW on) of the job to date, and who actually liked the DoTs….
What would you say to assuage my concerns? I really worry that the job is going to feel super boring to play, mashing the same 4 buttons with nothing to track, nothing to remember, nothing to pay attention to, and all the "choice" being basically illusory because you'll just always use the strongest option first (which looks to be Ifrit), then the middle option (seemingly Titan) followed by the weakest (seemingly Garuda), lather, rinse, repeat.
As an example, I play on keyboard and mouse. I totally get and empathize with "man SMN has too many buttons" (I use four bars! It's a lot!) But…without actually being able to play it myself, it honestly really really looks like an incredibly beautiful but tragically hollow shell of the job I've always loved, and that genuinely scares me a bit. I'm worried the job I love most is just completely gone and I'll never find anything that scratches the same itch (especially since Square seems to dislike DoTs now.)
Summoning Summoner summoning the Summoner.
summoner summoner somebody
Now that I've made it to the end of the video I understand some of the comments lol. Btw when you were talking about Summon Ifrit I the tooltip for Summon Ifrit II was up. Wasn't too hard to follow along anyway though.
I have been playing for a couple of months and main a WHM and also have a lvl 80 DNC. I'm very excited about the new SMN. I have an ACN at lvl 28. Would it be better to get her to lvl 30 and then wait for Endwalker before leveling as there are so many changes?
Given I don't have the platform to ask this question I would like to ask that you do. Why is it that summoners in FFXIV don't have access to ice magic?
Why isn't Shiva an option for us? Or is it an option but it just wasn't revealed as such for our healing counterpart, scholar?
It just seems odd that in nearly all iterations of the summoner class all magical elements were offered, yet in this updated version of FFXIV Ice magic/summoner was not….
I wish they would have stayed away from the term "Arcanum", it's too related to Astro card skills. I would have rather them used "Magicite" or some other reference to crystals, as in game, crystals are the way the primals are summoned. Other than that, I'm looking forward to it. I'm in the same boat as Brian, I loved SMN all the way till Shadowbringers, then it got really cumbersome.
Summoner, Summoner, Summony! I've just started, but I'm maining Summoner and am really intrigued by the changes.
Nice.
As a player who ONLY plays casters/healers, and has always been intimidated by summoner rotation in XIV, I’m legitimately excited to play this new derivative of summoner.
I like that they made Carbuncle into a pure support summon, as it is usually depicted in previous FF games. Really looking forward to playing this "new" job. 😉
"It enkindled in me a desire" See what you did there, I did.
Nice video, just subscribed. I have been playing Summoner/Scholar since ARR and looks like I will keep playing them as my main dps/healer.
