Finally understanding the levels of contempt the WoW team has for its player base puts things in perspective. FFXIV continues to lead the way in how its player base is treated and it starts from the top: with Yoshi P. There has been a constant FFXIV vs WoW battle since FFXIV began to gain a lot of popularity in the past year and thus comparisons have been drawn more frequently.
Chad Thorsen takes a closer look at how the developers for both games speak to their audiences regarding delays, promises, community Q and A and more.

Popo's other videos are equally painful. I was never a big Blizzard fan, even during the days of WotL, but this just sheds light on years of community interaction I had no clue about.
And for the section you were questioning, it was for the ARR release event. It is touched on in the Noclip documentary.
There's really no other gaming companies I know where the devs are as openly hostile with disdain to their own p(l)ayers. That's one reason why I never thought Bobby and Activision had anything to do with the toxicity within that company; they're filled with assholes. And what do you know, such devs create an environment where more toxicity festers within the community. No community can avoid this of course, not even FFXIV, but even compared to any of them, the one in WoW is on a different level.
That last blizzard question is always amazing to me. Like, imagine how that must feel to have the devs directly address your question just to have them be so disrespectful, acting like you're the stupid one for even asking and then hitting you with the "moving on."
That long pause got you in the doghouse Chad XD
I hope uncle Phil kicks him off the team next year
Blizzard devs and the players are like a dysfunctional family. Always yelling and screaming at each other.
I fear for FFXIV if Yoshi P ever leaves. It might get run like all the other business units of Square Enix.
I hope someone high up in Microsoft sees, or has seen, this video. And Ion and his crew get tossed out. I don't think Ion was up to the job he was given. At the very least he needs to be demoted back to raid design or something.
I've worked retail for many years. You always hate 'the customers'. You spend half of your time cleaning up the messes they make because they don't give a damn about anything but their own conveniences. And many of them steal things. It doesn't even have to be expensive stuff.
The "but are YOU this rude and dismissive too" chat message misses that, blizz brought this onto themselves,
Its a "dog chasing its tail" kinda situation,
This wouldnt be a problem if they just pushed players away, but no,they keep them just close enough, so the players become battered and jaded but still playing, and they become rude, which validates the devs in being rude and the cycle keeps going forever
I never played WoW. But I have played Diablo 3. And the systems in Diablo 3 are so half-assed. The worst one for me is the bounties. It's so soul crushing and boring. It feels like having a job. But a really pointless one that doesn't bring anything to society. And while I haven't played WoW, I have watched Asmongold and Bellular. They make it sound like every system in WoW is bounties.
0:50 Something that may not translate as well is that in Japan, taking time off is already an arduous task to do, let alone re-scheduling thanks to the over-work schedule a lot of people deal with. Yoship very likely felt this for everyone who had to re-schedule time off, but he is most likely intimately aware of the difficulty re-scheduling could be for his country's work ethics (including what the ffxiv dev team themselves have gone through over the years) on the playerbase there. Maybe splitting hairs to say, but I do think it gives an insight for why he felt so guilty on the delay back then.
2:20 Also not wrong, that same "consumer WILL stop asking questions and just consume product" mentality, as mentioned many times, is what led to ffxiv 1.0's disastrous failure. SE has had a number of these occasions over the years, and well…you reacted to the nft thing by the pres before for an example.
"We'd rather you not play Demonology" WTF lol
Ion is so annoying. He's mocking about the questions regards pet battles and clipping issues, even while these questions were exspecially chosen from them before hand.
Even if yoshi p was playing us, the game is good and he is being hones with whats happening. So I'd prefer fake sympathy than the developers acting like that don't care and making jokes about things like Ion does.
Thanks for watching my video buddy! It's amazing how different you see things on the other side of a toxic relationship.
"We'd rather you not at Demonology." THEN WHY DID YOU PUT IT IN THE MOTHERFUCKING GAME?!
wow that level of contempt O_o
The lack of respect from the Blizzard devs towards their players didn't really hit me until the whole Blizchung issue and the subsequent allegations of harassment towards female staff. Suddenly it all made sense and I left Blizzard for good. The difference between them and Yoshi-P's team is like day and night.
