As I near that latter part of my “A Realm Reborn” playthrough, I wanted to take a look at this trailer again. I didn’t really understand anything the first time I watched it, and it was crazy to now recognize so many of the characters I have met along the way.

I just discovered your channel the other day. I was home sick and sort of binged a bit of your FF14 journey. I hope you're enjoying the game. The music, story, characters, and lore are so good. I know you have a ways to go, but you'll have to return again and listen to the song Answers after you beat Endwalker. Every time I hear the song, the lyrics bring me to tears. I don't know if they planned for it from the beginning, or if they just found a way to incorporate the song into the story, but it's so good.
I look forward to seeing your journey. Every expansion from here on out just gets better and better. ARR is still good, but they have to establish a lot of lore and underlying information, so it can seem a little slow at times, but it just ramps up and up and up from here.
I absolutely love this trailer and I had a similar experience where I had no idea what was going on when I first watched it, though I enjoyed it and wanted to know more, and then the emotions truly hit when I rewatched it after experiencing ARR in its entirety. I feel the same about all the other trailers too, once you know the context it just makes them even better!
Yeah this trailer was already amazing but just got so much better after Endwalker released. I cannot wait for you to see the whole story, I am sure you will love it!
And yes at 1:36 that is Limsa, at 1:42 there's Ul'dah and at 1:46 you can see Gridania T.T Also starting from 7:58 there's a very important location you will soon encounter in Mor Dhona 😉
Just to help out, the guy in the woods on the horse is Odin, and the beast in the mountains is a Behemoth, both of these were really big FATEs during ARR, essentially like world bosses. It's something you can still do but not without waiting on them to spawn really so you arent likely to meet em naturally. The raid that is required to progress the MSQ is also right after the Behemoth, but otherwise you caught everything there is to catch in the trailer this time.
I like this type of video where you go back and see how things have changed for you with a new perspective. For this trailer in particular, there's still even more story you have yet to see that will reveal even more interesting tidbits during trailer. There's some really good story content in the hardest post-Realm Reborn content that ties directly into the events of this trailer and even answers some of the questions you've had in your videos that I didn't want to answer because of spoilers. You might not want to tackle the hardest content in the game, but there's ways to see it by doing it with some higher level party members and level sync turned off as a sort of easy mode. I definitely recommend doing it (burning coils) for the story alone once you're done with the main story before moving on to the rest of the MSQ.
It's fun catching the details you haven't notice before. I'll point out two for you:
1. Louisoix carried a staff; what happened to it? Do you know where it is now?
2. When Louisoix was weaving a spell to seal the giant dragon, what were the Scions doing? (Hint: the sealing spell surround the dragon w/many symbols–you've seen those symbols during character creation.)
The guy with an axe is known as Meteor Survivor or Derplander and represents player character in per-rendered CGI cutscened
To give further context to this trailer, this is essentially the prequel for ARR. When FFXIV was first released, the game was actually pretty badly-made. Instead of abandoning it, Square Enix decided to completely revamp it from the ground up. To do so, they actually "destroyed the world" as part of the story. This trailer depicts that world-ending apocalyptic event.
The warrior you see is the representative face for the warrior of light! He was there when the event happened, but was transported 5 years into the future by Louisoix. There's a LOT more context for this trailer, but that's the basic gist!
