  1. I just don't know where the fuck to start and you can tell me as much as you want the MSQ is cool and story is nice, I don't care I just want to raid, and still, I've played what feels like a thousand hours and this shiet just doesn't end.
It is very fun, combat is fun and classes I've played are fun, but god damn the MSQ just bars it to me

  2. There's some more niche side group content as well for people who want something a bit different from traditional dungeons and raids:
Exploration Zones (72-144 player instances, 48 player trials, raids, unique power gains)
    Deep Dungeon
    V&C dungeon
    Treasure Hunts
    The Hunt (world bosses)

  3. You forgot to mention :
    – Fabulous crafting jobs
    – Excellent and varied activities (Casino, Chocobo Racing, Doman reconstruction, Airships, Sea fishing, Gardening…)
    – You didn't mention housing as well…

This game as so much content… My favourite, before ESO (which is really rich too) and GW2 (same)…

But yes, FFXIV is the last of the classing subscription based MMO and probably the most enjoyable I played until now. Music, dialogs, decor, everything makes it a good game…

  4. I started playing the free trial few months ago. Thought I could play the game solo till I wanted to rank up my grand company. "Well at least I can still solo the msq with duty support" then I hit Thornmarch (Hard) yesterday. And then find out I need to do Crystal Tower with other 23 peoples?!
Went to sleep and had nightmare of how badly I performed in all those trials with other people.
And also this Moogle Treasure Trove event with lots of trials to do. Might skip the event LOL
Hopefully I can get through my anxiety and able to play with other without screwing up soon 🫠🫠🫠

  5. I have to thank you Lucky, it was your video like this two years ago that got me and my family into this game, and we’re still going strong and actually almost done with Endwalker after taking our time with the story and world.

  6. A mistake I see over and over on Reddit is trying to skip the story. Players that hate it are frustrated because even with buying skips they still can't skip everything, and other players regret it because they don't understand what is happening.

I haven't felt as invested in an MMO since the early years of WoW. Also have found a wonderful community to be a part of.

  7. As someone who's played the game since mid-Heavensward, the Endwalker patch cycle finally broke my perception of things and made realize just how many fundamental issues I have with the game that can't be fixed by simply taking a break as many people would suggest. Which include:

-The server ticks are extremely slow compared to most MMOs which can make the gameplay feel unresponsive even with a good connection, and a large part of optimizing play is learning precisely when your own abilities and those of enemies "snapshot" and are considered to have gone off according to server, not the actual visuals which are often misleading. This is particularly problematic in PvP where you can hit your panic buttons/survival cooldowns well before you're visibly dead on-screen but keel over regardless.

-Job gameplay design is stale and has been getting progressively more dumbed down as time goes so everything can fit into the "two minute meta", which can be summed up as every DPS/tank job having a "burst" phase where they burn through all of their cooldowns over a period of 15-20 seconds, then spend the next one/two minutes doing their extremely sparse filler rotation…and then you have healers who spend 80-90% of a typical encounter hitting their few offensive buttons over actually healing. If you are not doing difficult content where you have to be paying attention to a relentless onslaught of deadly mechanics, the combat gameplay is simply not that engaging due to how little there is in the way of moment to moment decision making there is with skill rotations and the skill cooldowns being considerably longer then average. There is only one "optimal" way to play each job with little room for skill expression outside of "don't mess up".

-The content cycle is consistent to a fault (To the point of making the story extremely predictable at times due to it being built around that repetitive structure) and the amount of actual innovation with each expansion is extremely minimal compared to other MMOs. We're lucky to get even a single piece of substantial new side content that falls outside the norm; much less have it reliably return with each expansion given how Shadowbringers skipped over deep dungeon and Endwalker skipped over exploratory zones in spite of said expansion supposedly having received more funding and dev time.

I'm not sure I'll even bother sticking out the whole of 7.x if things continue the way they have been and I'm debating just letting my house go and unsubbing until then with the current state of things.

  8. I'm so happy that your video is so positive. FFXIV is my gaming one true love as I think you know by now, so to see you appreciating it this way really makes me happy. I agree with everything that you've said, especially about just pushing through the early game because once players have made it to Heavensward they're rewarded for their time in spades via the epic story and amazing moments experienced throughout. I really do encourage people to give this game a go. The story will take your breath away and the varying difficulty of all of the available content is a welcome change from other MMO'S who have let their dungeons and trials stagnate. It's late and I'm waffling but thanks for the video bruvvles! Hope to see you around Eorzea. And maybe one night you'll actually turn up for Looters. Hey, one can hope, right?

  9. I have played FFXIV up through Shadowbringer but stopped at the ending and went back to WoW. I have thought about returning to FFXIV until the next WoW xpac drops. Would you guys say it's worth getting back in?

  10. I started mid 2020 and have loved it. Sure it has it's flaws, but I'm a story/rpg person and having basically a social fantasy rpg was the very thing I didn't know I was missing in gaming. I still love it to this day.

  11. Good video, I did like the breakdown and as others have said you missed out on DoL/H stuff as well as side content stuff that people might enjoy like the Gold Saucer. A tip you've hopefully learnt as well edge of shadow is your single target mana spender. Does more damage than flood which you're spamming at the end of the video. Enjoy ex/savage content tho there is a lot you can do MINE, which I don't think you mentioned either. Have fun!

  12. I didn’t even think of playing it at first but my friend just told me it was fun and there was a free trial at the time. After watching the EW trailer I tried it and I got sucked in and went for the subscription after 2 days of playing lol. I finished the story quest from ARR to ShB in 3 months because EW was coming in 6 months at the time…that was 3 years ago now and I don’t regret anything, it became my favorite game of all time and I don’t like MMO at all normally

  13. One mention about combat: even if feels slow at the start, at the end is incredibly hard. Most classes have 1 gcd and 1 ocd all the time ( even 2 if you have a good ping) and every class is designed having a combo rotation; if you miss one, your dps will drop. Said so, in savage raids, where you MUST do mechanics correctly, is often really hard to do a mechanical rotation proposed by ff14. Rotations so feels too much stricted and the gameplay will become a minigame where you have 20+ buttons to press ( dragoons with 5 combo, i'm talking to you). That's for me a big no for the game, where you have zero expression and you are relegated to a combo rotation. Oh yea, and the group cd MUST be syncro with others, so you don't have to miss it.

  14. This is a good video for upcomming new players, I started a year ago when endwalker was already released for some time and I am still at the last content of shadowbringers and I feel like I have so much more to do and just dont have enough time 😆

  15. solo content should come with a warning that the missions will be way easier than if you run with other people. Also the community isn't being 'nice' they are not talking cause if they say the wrong thing they will get a ban. These days where words change meanings left and right and with cultural differences people are just not talking. Honestly I will stand in limsa while going through things to do or even work on crafting and it can be several hours before you see someone talk. This is suppose to be an MMO and honestly it feels like more of a solo game with a bunch of NPCs roaming around with how much people don't talk. I have never been around aussies and NOT heard them use cunt or a few other words almost daily. The fact that they would rather not talk then risk getting banned is insane. The most I even see people talk is when you join a queue and people say Hi, o/, lali-ho, or even saying this is their first time. I'm part of a FC that has several companies across multiple servers and I kid you not that people would rather talk in discord than risk saying the wrong thing and SE pulling them into prison. People only act 'nice' when a wipe happens but if you were to listen to everyone it isn't this 'everything is ok' scenario, people get pissed when someone even noobs cause a full wipe. As a healer I have gotten pissed when people cause an 'oh shit' type of partial wipe where I have to blow everything to get people back up before a full wipe. Get someone that decides to run over me while they have a circle and either get me killed or almost killed and I have stopped healing people. The community in FF14 isn't nicer at all. Don't believe be part of a raid group in voice and wipe time and time again.

  16. I'm glad someone finally gave what I consider a proper review on pvp.

It isn't perfect or anything, but it's not nearly as bad as the doomers try and push.

And those doomers are usually the cat girls standing in limsa.

  17. This is the only game where I really feel the developers are developing for the sake of the players and not monetary incentives. Also the community is hands down the best online crowd I have ever encountered in ~15 years of constantly playing online games. Would recommend this to anyone who likes PvE heavy games.

  18. Its hard to tell if a game isn't for you when people constantly tell you to "Keep going! Its gets SO much better" Year and a half and reached Endwalker…It really wasn't for me lol
