  1. I’m in a weird case of being interested in ultimate and wanting to try it, but my static is still progressing through e12s, several members have shown interest in doing an ultimate after but we have yet to decide which. Although we agreed if we do pick tea we will all bother to get bis for it

  2. I cleared my first ultimate (TEA) not too long ago and I felt that it really improved my mindset and awareness as a raider. Have been looking for a new static for the Stormblood ones for weeks now, but it's been difficult finding a decent static since there's an influx of players who have "cleared the tier" with echo and want to do an ultimate now.

From trying out with one of these statics, my experience has been lackluster since I don't believe they are ready for the demands of ultimate-level raiding. The difficult part of ultimate seems to be more of finding the right people who match your skill level, experience and available times rather than the fight itself.

  3. It definitely sharpens you as a player, but be wary of creating "for fun groups" that end up disbanding after 10+ hours of work. That just ends up being a waste of time. Do your research and give it full effort and commitment and you can clear them.

  4. I think the biggest problem most people have is the finding a group part tbh. If you are prepared to put in the time & dedication towards focusing on mechanics & working as a team, then everything else will come with progg ^^

  5. Time is really more the issue, rather than difficulty when it comes to ultimates imo. Way too many factors can halt a team progression, just losing 1 member during heavy amounts of prog makes everyone else restart or hard to find someone at x time.

But yes, ultimate is whole lot different and makes you a better player. I didn't start leading my groups until i actually cleared an ultimate. It raised my raid awareness to a point i didnt even think would ever happen.

  6. Short answer is NO.
You are very likely end up in static disband, a barrier someone can't overcome, or everything else stop you from getting clear.
Savage is the sweet spot for players, can clear in pug, not quite hard but still challenging, clear goal (the 4th floor in every tier).
Ultimates are something beat you to the earth, stay away from it and try other contents.

  7. I just formed a UWU group and had my second prog session today. We almost saw titan but wiped because of a searing wind mistake near the end. We're playing about 9-10 hours a week

  9. I want to try ultimate, but since I’m a european on an NA data center because of friends, so finding a group is difficult, not many people want to raid at the times I want to, finding a savage static was hard enough.

  10. I would say if you can clear Savage, especially the recent ones like E8S and E12S you can definitely at least clear TWR/UWU for starters. Obviously finding a group to prog with in the first place is quite challenging but I think it really comes down to a lot of people having this 'fear' or apprehension towards Ultimate because they think they are not 'hardcore' enough to be able to clear them.

Like I've cleared all 3 of the Ultimates and farmed them out for all my jobs and if you told me back in Stormblood that I would be farming Ultimates I'd tell you to get lost lol. Even though since Creator I've cleared all the Savage fights within 4-6 weeks of their release, I never really established a sense of self esteem or confidence in myself that I am a good player. So I've never really pursued Ultimates even though I have plenty of time to prog them since I just constantly doubted myself.

Fast forward to the content delay from 5.25 to 5.3, AKA the Covid delay, I was so bored out of my mind that when a friend suggested I try Ultimate I just said fuck it because there really was nothing to do in the game. I hopped on to the Ultimate discord in my datacenter and luckily found a group of people completely on the same boat as me. People that clear Savage but just never stepped in Ultimate for some reason. We started with UCoB then TEA and then left TWR last for some reason lol. It took monthsss to clear all three but after clearing UCoB I was kind of mad at myself for avoiding Ultimates all this time just because I was too scared to jump in and give it a shot. I'm so glad I decided to do them since not only do Ultimates make you a much better player but they also boost your self confidence – that just maybe, you're actually a much better player than you give yourself credit for.

TLDR: Finding a good group, having enough time and having the courage to step into Ultimates are definitely three of the main challenges outside of the fights themselves.
