I want a snack mage pin but I'm broke.
I don't know why, but the second you said Rhesh's full name aloud, I immediately responded (out loud, even) with 'the Crystal Brave?!'
Given that she vanished from the story immediately after Durmin extracted her during the ARR postgame, I have no idea why I rwmembered that. The question of what had become of her had always nagged, I suppose.
Always nice to see how some of the older characters are doing.
Can't wait to find out how this'll connect with future quests!
You make an adorable ninja!
something feels off. are you using a color filter? when did you start doing that? everything is a bit more saturated than it should be
Happy Final Fantasy Friday everyone: for my question, I want to know what everyone thought of the Ivalice Raid?
Playfriends, this isn't the MSQ! But this is some side content that is very fun! Welcome back to Revanant's Toll. This is your spoiler free lore comment!
This series of quests were released during patch 3.0, Heavensward! That means that, as far as the kids of Mor Dhona are concerned, the Dragonsong War is still going on, but Ishgard has had a big shakeup in political leadership. Nobody notable has come to Eorzea from Doma since the refugees first arrived here, and Doma is still under Garlean occupation.
But while players were off changing Ishgard, the developers thought it might be a good idea to give a bit of an update on the Domans. The Heavensward MSQ helped resolve the situation in Ul'Dah, but one of the crises that kicked off the Bloody Banquet was the issue of the Doman Refugees, so it's nice to check in on them. It also helps lay some more ground work for the planned next expansion which would send players off to Doma.
Don't worry if you don't remember Rhesh Polaali. She was a member of the 4th unit of Crystal Braves, serving under Alianne. The 4th was hit by a Garlean ambush and Rhesh was wounded and captured. Durmin lead the 4th into Castrum Centri to rescue her back in Episode 47 of Durmin's ARR adventure (Quest: "Back and Fourth").
3:15 – This is a reference to when the Domans first arrived at Vesper Bay. The Doman children have been taught by Yugiri and the others how to play hide and seek. Or more precisely, "hide from Garlean soldiers". Durmin had to find the children back in Episode 37 of his ARR adventure (Quest: "Yugiri's Game").
I love that Durmin serves as the chaperone for these kids while being shorter than them. This questline is funnier when playing as a lalafell.
If you're confused about what "Camp Revanant's Toll" is, rather than the town of Revanant's Toll, that's because the info is far from the MSQ. Dan summarizes it quickly and he's 100% right. This camp was destroyed during the 7th Umbral Calamity, 5(ish) years ago. After the calamity, the town of Revanant's Toll was built.
18:55 – Slafborn, while craning his neck downwards to talk to Durmin: "Had to be someone small, that's why we're suspecting the kids. Who else could be that small?"
22:40 – Like I said, this is so much funnier when you're a Lalafell.
32:35 – I'm presuming that, due to them all having traditional lalafellin names, it should be "Ba-Ba-Ra", but having one of the family just named "Barbara" is hilarious too.
33:13 – Valefor is a summon/aeon, which first appeared in FFX. It's Yuna's first aeon and is a winged demon. It's origin is from Demonology, where Valefar is the Duke of Hell and the demon who tempts thieves.
Ah, this has been a fun little adventure with the kids. But, there are some lingering questions now. This all happened back before the Doma was liberated. What will these Domans do now that their homeland is free? There is a bit of game play opinion here: this questline is mismarked. It shows up as a normal sidequest, which it was in Heavensward. My opinion is that it should be updated with the blue background and the little plus sign. Because taking these kids on an adventure is required to progress another plot line: The Reconstruction of Doma.
One of the more adorable sidequests, and don't let those lalafel try to trick you, lots of evil in a tiny package.
There's a joke here about Durmin always having been a ninja, but he was so good at it it looked like he was playing other jobs….
3:28 Durmin makes spare moments.
8:52 Yea, adventuring has a very high mortality rate.
10:54 If you think it's still there, it might've passed what's left of it…
12:24 Until it converts into vinegar, anyway.
15:39 Once, anyway. It's like how any ship can be a minesweeper.
18:47 Or a Lalafell.
20:47 Probly getting a water or a snack.
22:51 Such a weird thing to have to say.
26:07 Not the sharpest tool in the shed.
30:19 "Deafening Glare" in action.
31:35 Remind yourself that overconfidence is a slow, and insidious killer.
Did not know that quest kine was there . thank you.
These quests are a wholesome delight! But what do they unlock? The Doman Enclave?
To me a good quest is it's own reward so I never gave much thought about the actual reward.
Dan playing the kids as poor actors is extra funny to me given we just finished the theater-focused Ivalice raids. XD
Let's not kid ourselves Durmin, you're babysitting.
This was an important diversion, I agree.
After my last comment was so negative, I'd like to say something more positive about this game I have come to love… I really admire that there are such ample opportunities to just take a break from more serious plots to play mentor to a budding Scooby gang. I'm also glad that time was taken to show off some of the very good sidequest material available, since that mas a majority of my time spent in this game.
Even the Revenant's Toll we have now was a lot smaller in the 2.0 patch. It was built up over the 2.x patches to what we have now. About the only thing still around from it is the House's stall.
Nice to have a little low-stakes adventure between all the world-in-peril ones.
Also good to see Rhesh again!
I like this take on the ninja look! Durmin appears to be cosplaying as Morenthal from Dan Jones and Dragons.
