  1. Short answer: No
    Long Answser: Noooooooooooooooo
Even Longer Answer: I think the PTR is a source of a lot of issues with wow. It leaves things open for datamining which becomes spoilers so I completely disagree about the points at the start. When I played WoW I knew the entire story of the next patch/expansion before it even came out. It becomes a mine field trying to dodge the spoilers and even when I try to avoid them I got spoiled every time. I think they should keep doing what they are doing as it works perfectly fine. PTR is just a way for Blizz to have a QA team without having to pay them which lowers the quality of the overall game.

  2. PTR isn't just WoW replacing skilled QA teams with their own paying customers so they can get feedback and testing for free. (The thing they're testing is not x system, its how x system interacts on the servers with large numbers of players at once playing how they play.)

  3. With all the influx of new income, it’s probably pretty unnecessary to open the door quite so wide to spoilers/increased data mining/raider team pre commitment testing time and all the other side effects that a PTR creates.

I also question the actual effectiveness of most PTRs, they aren’t quite the “cure all” to bugs and concerns that most people imagine them to be. There is a lot of interplay and organization with the devs that is absolutely required for them to even be useful in the first place, which few dev teams actually end up utilizing properly.

  4. I would say that PTR is necessary for testing major changes. It's something to consider for between expansions, but largely unnecessary with FF14. They just need to be quicker to act on necessary changes, like the ridiculousness of Scholars in PvP or what happened with Monk's Greased Lightning.

  5. PTR ruins most the encounters. Almost all of them are solved by release. So even if like you have a boss mod (most people do) you got a very experienced shot caller telling you what to do. Where story and art gets spoiled in WoW is from data mining. Wowhead pretty much tells the community EVERYTHING in advance. It bleeds out everywhere.

  6. It's still hard to believe that there are MMOs out there that are so customer unfriendly that they refuse to have PTRs. Spoilers are irrelevant. Let us test things before you implement them!

  7. PTR feels really unnecessary considering every patch we get is really polished and you have wow where it just spoils everything and the bugs and other stuff people hate still remains in the final version
