I liked the video and I think I understood most of their points. However, I thought the part on midcore static was a little weak. It feels like the main point Qt was making was that there are a "wide range of people [and] expectations" in these groups. Don't you just join a group that has its expectations clearly set to overcome this? Maybe Qt's issue is whether or not the leader of the group will withhold these expectations with the group, which I could understand being hard to determine if you don't really know the raid lead. It just seems like a silly point to almost fully base your distaste of midcore statics off of when there is a fairly clear solution.
As a PVP addict on MOOGLE (CHAOS) we dont actually even have many people playing PVP either since most of my opponents that i fight against are rarely even from MOOGLE, but still to this day i haven´t even cleared P9 savage so there must be something about us that makes us SUUCK, at least in PVE content, but then again i have met a few players that are "LEGENDS" or others that have cleared all the way from P9 to tackle P11, but its hard for them
( I LOVE PVP but learning PVE fights just seem booring to me, even if i managed to kill GOLBEZ EX about two times in my 2.5 years of non-stop playtime)
I’m glad you hate that p8s fight as much as I did. Fight was absolutely abysmal
i feel very fortunate to have a midcore static based entirely in my FC. i act as raid lead and handle organising/planning/scheduling and put a lot of effort into ensuring everyone knows what the expectations are, what our goals are, etc. and it goes a long, long way in making sure the static runs smoothly and feels good to everyone. every time i've been involved in statics that aren't rooted in commonality, it goes to shit.
Casuals made up of friends has the difficulty of confronting each other for other's mistakes. That's why Arthars once said : "Statics that are made up of friends will never get anything done". To be able to call out others(and get called out) for the mistakes they(ourselves) make, and not get butthurt over it, is what makes statics endure the test of time in raiding. This is also why dramas in statics exists, because people are too emotionally fragile to put up with these negative interactions in raiding. Good raiders are not the ones whom are the best at playing their class/jobs, it's the ones whom are able to switch off their emotions, to put all their concentration in handling the mechanics and clear the fight together.
