Poor Scripe missing out on all those years. It’s funny coz they were raiding in WoW and they were telling their guildies about how good FFXIV is and how they need to try it. Roger got someone to boost after raid and I think he’s gonna level a bard or a dancer with him. They remind me of my friends that kept convincing me to play another MMO while we were progging M N’zoth. I caved in and joined the game in 5.3 and I’m glad I did.
Sorry man, but better late than never
All WoW veterans go through this. It's like almost living in denial that an MMORPG this good was not being played by you FOR ALL THOSE YEARS. And instead you were playing shitty fucking WoW.
it's funny and sad to see how blind most wow vets where to FFXIV man like honestly I feel bad but I am super happy and glad they all get to experience something new and exciting again
WoW fucked up a lot of people when it comes to MMOs. It even fucked up Blizzard on how they made new systems and disguarded previous systems which in turn made entire parts of the game meaningless.
how did he thought the game is only out for 1 year when there are 3 current expansions
Really hope they go back and do UCOB and the rest of the trials.
I mean in all fairness to him and other wow vets, blizzard literally tries to force you to only play and look at their game. If ff14 had an expansion coming, wow was gonna release their expansion or patch in the same month to force players into a hostage situation. “Don’t look at her, look only at me”
Edit: grammar
That's what good old WoW FOMO will do to you.
Yup that's what gets me, I played WoW since TBC until current when Shadowlands finally broke me. Always heard of FF14 ARR when it came around in 2013 and then kept hearing about the expansions and hearing they were good, but I was locked into WoW so I didn't pay attention. I started FF14 this summer in earnest and I can't believe what I missed. As a huge lore and story nerd going from WoW's broken fragmented story to FF14's story was mind blowing. The classes are engaging and interesting and man I've been having a blast. I won't say it was all bad on WoW's side, but I did waste 2018 to now basically limping along WoW's shell of its former self.
It's not exclusive to Scripe either. These players are a living example of the bird cracker meme.
When you realize you could've been playing a vastly better game for the last 8 years lmao
I feel somewhat sad that I missed out for so long. However. Now (2 mos in) it’s like getting to binge watch a show on Netflix you never watched. I have 8 years of content plopped in my lap and didn’t have to wait.
And ff11, the previous ff mmo is older than wow
"8 years wasted not knowing ff14 exist"
"8 years wasted" well…, as am I
its funny because i was like that too
i know about 1.0 (my cousin told me about it) but after look up the review "meh" for me so i never touch the game or even bothered by (i used to play other mmo like ragnarok online, seal online, dragon nest, etc *also play some FPS stuff back then)
few years later my friend in collegue told me about it (back then SHB just released)..
ofc i sceptic about it (wasnt it so bad?)… and a few months later i buy the complete edition (because discount bundle thing)
never look back since….
I joined just a couple weeks after the Stormblood expansion and I've never been happier cause of how much I've put into FFXIV. But what's funny is what got me to join the game in the first place.
It wasn't the gameplay, the story, or even the cat girls. My friend just showed me a picture of the Fat Chocobo mount and I bought the game the very next day. No, I am not kidding lol
It literally says "2010-2021 all rights reserved" on the bottom of the login page lmaooo
I've been telling my WoW friends about FFXIV since Heavensward and nobody believed me "no way it's better than wow" "wow is the best mmo" "wow has more players" kind of comments. Meanwhile I was dealing with ALEXANDER savage, Nidhogg and the Knights of The Round extremes feeling sorry for my friends.
But technically the first few patch of ARR wasn't really that impressive compared to post ARR. Anything prior 2.0 had been pretty bland and lack of contents, things were a lot grindier than current versions, not to mention leveling alt jobs are also harder in the past.
The thing is, It is very hard to convince WoW players to try other MMOs.
Pretty sure most of them have heard about FFXIV. They will look up pictures of it and call it a weeb game, or simply disregard it completely without giving it a fair shot. Having misconceptions about FFXIV flying in their community doesn't help either.
WoW brain Sadge
Choose:
– Waste months before a patch to prepare for raid.
– Buy a couple of items from your crafters in 10 seconds
It's ok though, not many people plays FF from childhood. even I play FF from childhood I just started FF XIV in 2020 despite knowing it since ARR lol… Tbh, MMO FF was not my cup of tea until I felt like living another life in eorzea
Too be fair for me shadowbringers is the perfect time to tried ff14 due to all the content it provided.
I'm pretty sure most WoW players have always had people tell them to try XIV when WoW has fucked up, they just never listened cause Blizzard is really good at keeping everyone hostage.
this is call instant regret effect
the only thing that sucks in ff14 is the pvp. I loved doing arena in WoW back in tbc and wrath. The PvP in FF14 just doesn't feel good..oh…and expert roulette where i have to do the same damn dungeon for weeks.
Believe it. The original game was out in 2010 and then shut down in 2012. That was the one that wasn’t good. The current version of the game that’s out now with the expansions came out in 2013
Shadowbringers, the latest expansion that is out right now is the third expansion for the game, and that released over two years ago back in I think July 2019. The game has been out for a long time. I’ve been playing close to six years myself Mel but the problem was a lot of people just flat out dismissed it as a weed game because oh no it’s got cat girls. But once you get the chance to get to know it, it’s at its core a good game.
Yeah, a game that has been re-released and has had 3 expansions, with a fourth on the way, has only been out for a year…
The thing that most people don't know is that there's some content that are only able to be experience at the time when it launches, the best example of this is ishgard restoration, you get to see Ishgard slowly and progressingly getting complete in real time.
This also happen with Mor dhona, Idylshire AFAIK (there might be some more).
Not to mention the "some" ARR quest that change and gone
There are also content/items that are no longer obtainable.
So when he said 8 years wasted not knowing, there are things that you won't be able to experience anymore too in the game
I was the same way. Nothing could compete with WoW for me. I wouldn't even look at other games. I would've never started FFXIV if my brother didn't gift it to me. Even when I started I thought I wouldn't like it. Now I realize how blinded I was. I'm even a little upset I never got to try 1.0! But I'm so glad I started when I did, right after Legion's launch no less! That's when my eyes were opened.
The realization you've been playing a bad game just because it had a big name when you could've played an actual good game LMAO
I just started about 2 months before asmon and the big hype for ff14 started, wish I started a lot longer due to how much is in the game before endwalker.
wow players/refugees are like prisoners, who when they finally get out, realize they were locked away for almost a decade, and the world has moved on beyond their measure of comprehension.
Was in that boat 1 year ago myself. Never gave ff14 a chance because, "it's a weeb game". First after playing it do you realize it's not only less of a weeb game than wow but better in all the important ways, only minor possibly being the gameplay fluidity, which again is more that you have been used to wow animation so long, everything must flow like it, when in truth it wasn't even as good you thought/believed it was.
The Blizzard bubble at it's best.
Better late than never huh?
