  1. Thank you so much for watching my video! I really enjoyed your video on how to save WoW! As a 16 year WoW vet turned refugee it’s painful to see these things from outside the relationship. WoW was very important to me for a long time… and still is. It’s just sad to see the state of the game these days, and I hope that the devs will be able to learn lessons and actually listen to those of us who care enough to help them. Unfortunately, though there’s a track record of not doing so. I would love to see a world where both FFXIV and WoW are successful and push each other to be more successful.

  2. As far as I can tell, the Blizz apologies are actually a reflection of the culture of the wow community. Kind of like meme-ing, a bit sarcastic tone. Of course, there was elements of douchebaggery there. And the YoshiP apologies are a reflection of the Japanese culture.

  3. It's clear that Ion is just trying to be sarcastic and funny with these responses, but at the same time… that's kinda the point? His players are asking him real questions about things they want or think are sub-optimal about the game, and his reaction to that is to effectively not take their concerns seriously. Players aren't watching dev Q&As to see Ion practice his stand-up routine, and if those same questions were put to Yoshi-P you know he'd give gracious and considered responses to all of them.

Ion's attitude here is symptomatic of Blizzard's view of World of Warcraft as the undisputed king of the genre, and thus the grumbling of the rabble is just background noise. And that attitude bled completely into the decisions they make around the game too. We know better than our players.

  4. Ion always mocks people who question him. Also he has always heard the feedback and often said he rejects it. Even in his newest interview he admits to hearing the feedback and refused to act on it because he knows better.

  5. From the outside looking in the video seems to captures one of the biggest complaints I see from people fed up with blizzard have. "The devs do not seem to take the player base seriously."

If Ion actually answered questions rather than fish for reddit up votes the player base wouldn't be where it's at right now.

  6. Look at it this way: even if WoW was in the state it is now, or before 9.1.5, how would the community have reacted if Ion would go on a stage doing a live broadcast, explaining what is happening to the game and what specific plans they have to remedy these issue. How would the community have reacted if he would stand there, before all these cameras, before a virtual audience bordering on the thousants, and say "I am sorry, you are disappointed, and we have neglected to listen. We are deeply sorry for this and we will do x, y and z to earn back your trust".

I believe if Ion would this or somesuch (at the very least an apology), the community would forgive ActiBlizz everything. Sure, there will be trolls, there are always trolls, but the situation wouldnt be as bleak as it is now. ActiBlizz has to stop hiding behind corporate speech and this oozing arrogance they carry around like a shield, and start with real open communication. Yoshi-P put it best in his interview with Asmon and Rich: it often seems that devs view their players like enemies. Why is that? The main reason FF14's community loves this game defends it to the teeth is because of the open communication implemented by Yoshida. And it does wonders to the community's spirit and the devs.

  7. Ion: Scripe alked about the game and me andressing feedback in comparison to the weeb game
also Ion: Is this feedback too? naaaah, he's just memeing, im great and funny 😉
Ion answers to himself again: if it was feedback, it would be in the community council, if not there, is not feedback.

^ YoshiP: Wtf? (laugh in liveletter reading/answering chat)

  8. The reason the "apologies" are so weak, is that don't belive they've done anything wrong. Its just the players whining. Blizzard have completley lost the connection with players.

  9. Ion clearly still values being an Elitist Jerk. It's maybe not the best look for someone providing a service. To quote the Ancient One from Dr Strange, Ion, "It's not about you."

  10. I'm a final fantasy 11 player and now 14, wow is fun with great game play. The only reason I didn't play was because of way it looks in my opinion. I'm not a wow fan but I think you guys are being too harsh on wow. Take ez guys it's only a game.
