The best/easiest incentives that work are mounts/minions/emotes. Best example: Unreal trials and Varis EX (only a small number bothered with Varis, now because of the card drop, i see varis groups in PF again) Even though most have their favourites, mounts and minions are (after glam) the best incentive for ppl doing stuff.
Btw: there actually already is a small incentive for min Ilvl. The orchestrion roll drop chance is increased that way. But since most dont bother that much with orchestrion rolls (at least not that much as mounts/minions) its not too well known.
Titles would be nice too, but i would refrain from any type of glow. We already have enough weapons with glow/special effect (apart from some newer jobs maybe) and glow for other eq cheapens the other stuff and might breed toxicity.
Another idea would be something along the lines of wondrous tails. Special marks a set of all of them and add a minigame on top of it, with weekly rewards like mgp, exclusive minions, mounts or exchangable wildcard totems for helping to buy current ex mounts.
As you talk I'm think what if the reward was a glowing aura, or various wing variations that are "mounts", but instead of riding something, you just fly or run at high speeds.
Yes with 100% drop rate for all rewards
I think it would be cool if XIV did what Phantasy Star did. Once this story finishes in 6.0 Start work on a new engine or update the engine to where you want it to be. Then let your players be able to move their characters between the two separate games with their character.
Alot of end game raiders do min ilvl old raids to prep for new content. When uwu came out everyone i knew was running min ilvl primals.
Side note, min ilvl is still really easy with ALOT of content, if u want a true challenge you need to min ilvl and then remove a few accessories. Min ilvl coils especially. It still gives you almost 1,000 more hp rhan what we had back in the day. But thats just for hardcore bored raiders XD
Wondrous Tails savage. All content min ilvl
part of me kinda thinks they should make new game plus give xp…..i mean sure balence it a bit but ultimatly it seems like an awsome way to lvl secondary jobs…that hasnt been explored….
find your own min ilv group. stop polluting the rest of the community.
I would love it honestly. But understand there needs to be some incentive, so achievement titles, glams, mounts, speed maps. Heck, even free aetheryte tickets.
Likewise, I want to use my skills.
I’d like a MINE Leveling Roulette
I think if they where going to incentivize this it needs to be HARD and not grindy. EX primal fights is an example of what I call grindy and not difficult. I feel that the item should have a sense of accomplishment to it akin to ULT weapons. It should be something you work hard for but not RNG cause you could get it on your first run and then your back to nothing to do.
Reskinned mount or title, yes please, anything to incentivize running the old, cool content as intended.
Yes! SE NEEDS TO GIVE YOSHI A BIGGER BUDGET (NOT JUST FOR BIGGER SERVERS), BUT GIVE YOSHI BIGGER TEAMS, TO GIVE US MORE RAIDS (ATLEAST 5 RAIDS PER TIER & 3X ULTIMATES PER EXPANSION!!).., ESPECIALLY SINCE MASSES OF WOW PLAYERS ARE MIGRATING TO FFXIV!!
…
ok it's more expensive, than like adding Unreal (using old content) or adding reskin / recolour mounts as rewards.., but SE really needs to give Yoshi a bigger budget / team, with the huge numbers of players coming (from wow) now
Speaking of raids, I can't find a let alone decent explanation for the raids.
For the latest alliance raid, why do you ONLY get 1 item for the entire raid?
What is the incentive to even finish the raid once you get what you want if it's before the last or 2nd last boss?
What justifies 1item x 1boss for the entire week?
Having access to all your Skills defeats the purpose of MINE. Because ALL the extra potency might as well be higher ilvl/echo. They would have to completely rebalance ALL the old content, and the perk of MINE, is that the devs don't have to go back and Adjust it.
Great insight. Currently making my way slowly into harder content. I'm not even there yet but WANT these changes and love the concept.
If you want all content to be redone at MINE, then you simply create achievements. Then have an armour set, mount and some titles tied to the achievements. Make it so completing all content in the game at MINE gives you a really rare mount and title, and I'm sure some people would eagerly grind for it. This would also require minimal effort of SE's part, since they only are making one set, one mount.
If all content was available as MINE for the achievements though, then you'd have to manually find parties for all that content. After all only a fraction of a fraction of players would be running this content at any given time, making queueing for the content impractical. That'd also mean no MINE roulettes.
They do actually have a mount achievement for doing some of the harder earlier raids (3 of the binding coil raids, and 3 of the alexander raids) at min ilvl no echo as a party of 8 Blue Mages and its INSANELY hard to pull off, very fun though!
FF XIV isnt wow. If they do the same mistakes, they will fail like wow. Just enjoy the game or leave back to wow, no bad feelings, but dont change it to be the same, its a big mistake and will ruin the game.
no, thanks
Yes
Whoever wrote that post is clearly a casual talking about things they don't understand. Every expansion we get new skills and abilities jobs and stat weightings that invalidate past content. So even if they did min lvl no echo today it's still laughable easy compared to what I would have done years ago. And likewise people in endwalker will have an easier time. Square doesn't need to incentivse it because it's not an achievement or this great big undertaking anymore.
All this would be wonderful if we had the population to do it. Anything that splits the player group into sections takes away from the core design concepts of the game. If it can both integrate players back into the system and not take away from it this would be awesomeness!
Keeping things accessible for all is far more important than giving a small % of people something to do.
If gear doesn't matter in this game, only thing left it's astetic perks, honestely I don't see what kind of incentive would make sense, maybe special mounts related to that specific dungeon, dunno.
more unreal content. like instead of one per patch, being able to go back and the others
Im just weird where my perspective playing in sastasha (for example) is that I try to put myself in the shoes of the new player and I appreciate how far I've come with my level 80 characters. Thats just a way I dont tire myself out when grinding the roulettes
No, fine as is, no need to change what isn't broken
YES YES YES STOP HOLDING OUR HANDS!!!!
I would love to try a min ilv alliance raid roulette. I have enough optimism that 4-player or 8-player min ilv party finders might fill up, but I can’t really imagine 24 player party finders managing to fill up without pre-planning, but I could see 24 people queue for a min ilv roulette every now and then.
I would say, instead of having it be tied to dungeons, or even synced content, make it simpler. Two achievement lines for each expansion, released after the new expansion makes the old stuff 'obsolete'.
For the first line, its seven achievements, and you get it by completing the EX Trials at MINE. If you get all seven, you get a capstone achievement that unlocks the Gilded Collector Mount.
For the second line, 'just' three achievements – but here, its the Savage bosses, at 4, 8, and 12, of the raid tiers. And that would unlock the Ozma reskin.
You might also be able to do a minion form for various things, so you dont have to do all the achievements to get any rewards, but that's probably more complicated? (Even if a Leviathan minion would be super cool.)
There is already a system that incentivizes minimum ilvl, no echo content… the Blue Mage Achievements.
So we know it can be tracked. Tie each expansion's content to an achievement.
BTW, if you ask Yoshi-P, he will probably do it. That's how much they're open to ideas. I remember a fan asked him during a Fanfest about how cool it would be if controllers vibrated or had a sound when duty finder popped and it was implemented in a few weeks.
(Of course, the actual mounts will take a little work…)
Hey! Min. iL "raider" here. Been playing this game for a little bit over a year now and have been doing all the past raids/ex trials at min. iL + no echo simply for the fun and difficulty of it all. (currently blind progging O4S with a static)
The idea of "skill sync" is good, but that's.. basically Unreal..? What I never understood about FFXIV design decisions is that they could easily recycle so much of its old content that can be playable with all Lv. 80 skills by scaling damage and health down..? Why isn't Unreal just an option to do? And why does Unreal cycle out every other patch? Why would you take the time to scale down Shiva and Titan only to later on remove it "forever" from the game?
It's free real estate (and mostly assets). But either way I think I'll continue to min. iL "raid" because it's honestly super fun and pushes me as a player (and gives me so much more combat content to do). If they put an incentive on it. Good! People like carrots, especially in a game like an MMORPG. If not, then, whatever, I guess? 😅
Haven't finished the video quite yet, but I'm absolutely in the camp that FFXIV should incentivize MINE.
I'd almost say they should implement it into the MSQ, but I understand that would be a bit too difficult for a lot of players. I think a similar sync would work well throughout the MSQ to increase satisfaction and engagement during the initial leveling process.
I've tried to get friends into the game, and every single one of them has been turned off by the easier difficulty of big boss fights. I would love to be able to show my friends the MINE version of each fight, so they can actually experience the game before they make it to the end of the game.
I absolutely would love to always have the option to play the content as it was originally designed to be played. Even if it were less efficient, I would still choose the harder version of a fight over the overgeared version any day.
I actually really like Brian's idea of Minimum Ilvl sync without syncing skills. Like a scalable "mini unreal" for every piece of content in the game with an easier way to access it. You could also do it like a "New Game plus" and let people play through the entire game again but synced and give a currency for a fun new shop or something.
Also Skill Glamours are at the absolute top of my "this would be SO COOL" list.
A weapon glow would be so cool, but since we have some really crazy achievement mounts, I would imagine you’d have to minimum ilvl EVERYTHING in that expansion (dungeons, trials, raids nm/savage.) I just feel like it has to be ludicrous since it would be applied to all weapons. Oh and you would also get a title like “Sovereign of Heavensward” or something.
Titles and maybe unique glam fodder would be incentive for me
Edit: Or make it linked to New Game plus
