I’m not an MMO person, normally, but maybe I can make a difference for the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV that has a free trial which includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn AND the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 with no restrictions on playtime.

  1. you should also do purple key icon quests, they usually unlock features like dyeing gear, glamours (transmog), appearance customizer and the like. you also unlock mounts and mounts features with a purple quest. all the important stuff like msq, job quest and mount quests are highlighted in the top left

  2. Btw, I'm gonna say it right now before you make the mistake: DO NOT watch the trailers for the expansions if you haven't reached them yet. ALL OF THEM contain HEAVY spoilers.

  3. Good stuff!! You may like to visit Mist again, as this is the player housing zone! Every house will be decorated by individual players and/or FC groups, and many often have open doors for people to check things out 🙂

  4. So a neat little detail about inn rooms. If you log out using the bed, you'll get a tiny little scene of your character crawling into bed to sleep just before it logs you out, and then you'll likewise get a short little scene of them waking up the next time you log back in.

  5. It might be prudent to zoom out a bit. It’s fine now when everything’s easy, but when things get tougher having such a limited view of the battlefield will significantly hamper you.

  6. You need to progress in the MSQ to get the ability to ride mounts, you also get a free Chocobo when you do the quest. Once you unlock the Grand Companies the first quest they'll "make" you do is getting the ability to ride, as it also acts as sort of a tutorial for the Grand Company vendors.

    EDIT:Class/Job quests unlock skills (and give you gear) also it's a class quest (at level 30) to unlock advanced jobs (Warrior in case of the Marauder)

    EDIT2: it's beneficial to unlock all those eathernet shards in cities not only do they allow quick travel but doing so allows a quick (and free) teleport to exits of the city.

  7. I'd recommend you try out the rogue's guild, they've got a fun little questline. Sadly, the marauder questline is probably one of the least interesting starting class questlines.

  8. Yeah that's a Bard they get a "perform" action, with several choices of instruments, though that's a non-combat action and something you do for fun and it's not needed to play the class.

    EDIT:Actually whole "channel your rage" part comes an important part of the Warrior story which you unlock at level 30 and it's less worrying once you learn the details. To say it with as little spoilers as possible it's about channeling your rage and fury to productive ends(well technically protective) rather then destructive ones.

  9. Play? Most MMOs have sheet music, literal MIDI files. FF14 wouldn't be as silly as to have live play. I hope… I'm still side-eyeing this game… Haven't caved in yet. >.>;

  10. nice tip, gathering all the aetherytes including the ones in each city is good. the city ones grant you additional teleports once you grab them all which includes immediate teleports to all outside areas at each cities gates and the airship landings which will be of use later.

  11. I love how you pulled only the named pirate captain out of the group.
    He was in the midst of conversation and the other pirate just kept doing the talk animation while his captain is getting his skull split by an angry cat man right in front of his eyes. So, either they forgot to make the pirate aggro you when you hit his conversation partner and captain or he is thinking: "Oh no, my captain is getting freaking murdered, maybe I get spared if I pretend not seeing anything. Just keep doing mouth flaps and hand gestures, Perry. You are not getting paid enough for this shite!"

  12. Skyen I'd suggest you to bind a mouse button or any button to be exact to target nearest enemy. I assure you it will make the combat a little smoother. 🙂
    Also in your character screen – the one that apleara after pressing C – you can auto put on your best gear for your level by clicking on the icon right above the left corner of the rectangle where your character is shown

  13. man I remember when the perform function first came out. I think I still have it muted as people would just stand and button mash one note in populated areas. I'm glad that's died down
