Sastasha, Final Fantasy XIV's Deadmines, parallels with World of Warcraft

Welcome to my channel, I am a long lasting World of Warcraft player who has, after playing since Vanilla found a new home in Final Fantasy 14. World of Warcraft has always been a love of mine, but as the years progressed I found my time within the game begin to sour.

Thank you to all the love and support I have received from the Final Fantasy 14 community, even if I play like a scrub 🙂
I am very keen to build a community and host competitions with prizes from the Mogshop. Please consider subscribing and joining us all on Discord.

Looking forward for #Endwalker expansion

  1. You mentioned coming back to Deadmines in its heroic version, there is a similar "hard mode" versions of the "A realm reborn" dungeons. If i remember correctly its a couple quests to unlock the hard mode dungeons, they are lvl 50, and you get a little more story for the area and the mobs you are fighting.

  2. People from 2.0 can tell you we used to park our butts in front of this dungeon for hours shouting for LFG Sastasha. We didn't have duty or party finder yet so that was the only way to party up. I remember if you missed the leveling train and left behind, you weren't able to get this dungeon done. Those were the dark times.

  3. The notes in the dungeon give a clue as to what transpired between the story told so far. The details if you may. E.g. The Twinning Notes tell you how the mechanism to get us to Shadowbringers came about, a better idea of the events that unfolded 😀

  4. I actually like the story of Captain Madison. I hate Satasha because of how jobs feel to play at that level, i like the way it looks tho. It also absolutely gave me dead man vibes, it also gave me a bit of wailing cavern vibes as well.

  5. I remember when I ran "Sastasha" the first time when starting playing FFXIV. I had decided to make tanking my main role, which was a huge step since I've social anxiety. So even if I see "Sastasha" as an easy dungeon for me to do today, it was a nerve-wracking experience back then.

I also did run "Deadmines" when I played WoW a few years ago, and one of those runs was as the tank. But I never had the nerve to continue my tanking career in WoW. Mostly because I knew most people in that game would eat you alive if you made a mistake. FFXIV community are so much better in that regard than in WoW. The number of bad apples I've encountered in FFXIV is less than ten, wherein WoW, I lost count.

So, although "Sastasha" seems simple today for many veterans, it can be someones first experience as a tank or healer in this game. So take good care of those newbies because we always need more players in those two roles.

  6. The captain runs there because the pirates and the Sahagin are allies. Story has it that these pirates were tempered – you learn this when your starting city is Limsa. Doesnt mean of course that that Sahagin is happy to see the captain trespasing: its their spawning grounds.

  7. Don't forget to talk to the NPCs outside, while they aren't directly tied to Sastasha or Sastasha Hard Mode.

Edda and Co. will appear again at the next dungeon and then again at The Tam-Tara Deepcroft Hard Mode….

  8. cough The coeurls are smuggled from the Raincatcher Gully in Eastern La Noscea, not purchased from Limsa Lominsa, lol. The territories around Limsa are La Noscea, Limsa is specifically the city-state itself only.

One sidequest in Aleport covers that coeurls are not common in the economy, and that any trade in coeurls is technically illegal – and you get a coeurl kitten and a wolf pup (minions) from that particular side quest line after you help deal with the mess that a smuggler and some pirates created. You get the two youngling animals because the law enforcement for the area has no idea what to do with them, and so hand them off to you to take care of.
