Rurikhan Reacts to Preach's Thoughts on FFXIV Heavensward

Preach finished FFXIV Heavenward Expansion. He teared up. Good vibes, it reinforces the importance of taking your time, and I’ll probably be doing a video on that myself soon.

  1. I'm through the core of SB and moving through the interim patches between the main story and End Walker. The only thing that really got me emotionally were the role quests, specifically the tank. Though the whole thing is wonderfully written.

I love reminding people coming out of Heavensward that when this content released, they were farming wood to build an outhouse for their WoD garrison.

  2. 7:56 Weirdly enough I've just had a conversation about music with my fancée just today. Asked her what was the last zone/expansion in WoW that she could remember music from. For me it was to be completely frank, Wrath of the Lich king with either Grizzly Hills, Storm Peaks or Howling Fjord. Since then.. maybe Jade Forest? Other than these, I don't remember music from WoW. I always liked them, but nothing that can actually come to mind.

  3. For me the part that hit me most in Heavensward was seeing Edmonts reaction to the death. It hit more when you realize he was an illegitimate child and that is why he was stationed outside Ishgard, meaning Edmont never gave his son the love he could due to the politics.

  4. It is not called Shadowbringers, it is crybringers, or tearbringers. Seriously Heavensward hit the feels, but it was with a baseball bat. Shadowbringers hits the feels with a sledgehammer.

  5. I don't think WoW is the only one that make people want to skip content.

I think things like Battle Pass (mostly on shooters) and systems that promote speed runs and punishing those that don't do the most optimal play (*cough*Mythic+*cough* :P) on AAA games that promotes FOMO contribute to this playstyle too.

  6. I don't understand how these players have been playing any game then. I know a great number do, but some of them tout Witcher or Elder Scrolls as the best rpgs but they still hold WoW as being superior. Those are story games. Yet they skip any other story game. Are they in a paradox or just that delusional? I don't mean that in a derogatory way but I have no other way of describing that. They just sound extremely xenophobic when it comes to jrpgs that's why I never saw the point in them trying the game. They aren't trying and those that do are called shills and "weebs."

  7. Interesting perspective from Preach and great commentary on your side. Talking about the negative effects WoW's content focus on end-game has had players, I think you might find Quazii's video on how WoW vs XIV impacted his personal relationships (https://youtu.be/X7oBLUaY1rM). Reminded me a bit of how I felt when I quit EQ years abck.
