We know our destination, but how do we get there? Certainly, it would take very unorthodox means of reaching it given the circumstances of its location. Fortunately, it would seem that Urianger knows of a way to solve our problems in this regard.
We follow him to the fishing village of “Sullen”, which is located along the southern border of Lakeland. Though, it is a brief stop, as it would seem we were directed here first so that Urianger (and other fellow land-bound Scions) may accrue a boat as a means of transportation to an isle located a small ways off the coast. “The Isle of Ken”, as it is called, would appear to not be a simple landmass at all; rather, it is in fact the First’s incarnation of Bismarck: the White Whale primal we encountered along with the Vanu Vanu peoples in the Sea of Clouds! Though, it would seem this version of Bismarck is not a summoned entity based on legend and mythos, but rather an *original* creature of legend! Urianger explains to us that the Bismarck of this world is a Fae of eld, and he wishes to utilize his experiences accrued from his time in Il Mheg to convene with the great creature in an attempt to plea for its aid. Though he does just that, it would appear Bismarck is in no mood to move anywhere with the world currently being the way it is, thus immediately shutting down Urianger’s request after only a few exchanged words.
…But all hope is not yet lost! We have a special power that we have continuously failed to utilize during the entirety of our quest in the First: the power to summon the Faerie King, Feo Ul! For the first time, we call upon their aid, in which Feo Ul responds with glee an eager excitement! More than willing to assist us with this task, they quickly convince Bismarck to aid our cause with remarkable ease. Though, that may have something to do with the fact that Feo Ul currently acts as the literal king of all Fae kind.
With the small matter settled, we set off into the skies on the mythical whale creature to plummet straight into the depths of the Tempest.
…Though, the landing (sea-ing?) was far from smooth. After the entirety of our crew awakes from being knocked the friggout, we find ourselves standing upon the ocean floor, encompassed within an air bubble of gargantuan size. It is to be noted that the air bubble did not previously exist before our coming, for it was the work of Bismarck to service as a means for us to reach our destination without first drowning in the process.
This did not come without consequences, as it would seem we had severely disrupted the locals’ natural way of things by doing so. Given that our only current lead was that Emet-Selch resided in the Tempest, we are now currently out of ideas other than to wander aimlessly. But rather than doing that, we deemed it more efficient to apologize to the locals and earn their trust in an attempt to discover a possible lead from their understanding of the lay of the land. We embark upon a few of their tasks, and we eventually learn of beings known as “the Ancients”, and how they have a city dwelling somewhere nearby. Before we get too much more information than that, however, they ask us to check on a skilled artisan as to the progress of a sacred lamp that they had commissioned quite a while ago. It would seem they have not heard a word of the progress for quite some time, and are concerned whether he had abandoned or forgotten about the task.
We make our way to the artisan’s hut, and to our surprise, we find “Grenoldt”, a masterful Hume craftsman capable of creating items and equipment of legendary quality. Suffice to say, it would seem this is the First’s incarnation of our “Gerolt”, the man who created our Artifact weapons in the past. Now, why–and how–is he living at the bottom of the ocean?
Honestly, I have no idea. It seems he’s struggling with inspiration though, and it looks like we have to endeavor upon a rather abrupt detour to complete another adventure(s) before he’s able to make that Sacred Lamp we need. Oh boy.

If you ever happen to read any of the short stories they published during shadowbringers they actually shed some interesting light on Lahabrea.
Also hot damn you did a good job with that outro, summing up the vary feeling one has in that last scene. It really does feel all roads led to this confrontation.
Hmm, that debate in the side quest sounds a lot like Louisoix and Sharlayan… I love that kind of debate, having your own beliefs and ideas challenged so you can examine both sides of an argument and re-evaluate and be open to new perspectives is so invigorating.
"This looks very modern"
To me, it looked very garlean. Which actually makes sense considering emet is sortof the big daddy of all garleans
THAT OUTRO GOT ME HYPED MAN I only recently finished shadowbringers 5.5 and am patiently waiting for endwalker and I've been loving your reactions. Your little edits and touches make them pleasantly unique! I love how you fade your voice put as the WoL explains things to the others most lol
So stoked! I'm glad you're having fun
I hope you realise yours are the only video’s on youtube i ever comment on, that outro was a work of genius cannot wait for the next one
video's awesome as usual… but that damn outro is 1000000000000000000000000% amazing
the intro made me laugh but the outro was really something else! we are so close to the end of the journey I can't wait!
When you mentioned doing something for this particular outro,I had a hunch that it was because the video after this one is gonna be the "finale".
Also,as many others have asked,I am wondering what youll do for post patches, though i do feel like at least the patch content regarding msq up to the end of 5.3 is JUST as relevant as the main part ,given thats that where shadowbringers story truly ends aswell as….ah well, saying more would be saying too much really.
That outro though. Good stuff.
hey Lucron! little fun fact here: if you search around just before entering amarout or so you're gonna find a shoebill bird standing there doing literally nothing but stare (there's a minion of it in game), which is kinda creepy, more so if you consider it's the only living being down there (if we dont take monsters into account). ryne is there too, pretty funny and eerie 😂
(actually it makes appearances during a few quests here and there, i think it was in kholusia too before mt gulg. there was a very interesting theory about this bird 👀)
btw that outro was AMAZING. I GOT THE CHILLS. also i cant stress this enough but i love your approach to the game 😭
Finale? you still have the patches to do 😛 They are quite important as well.
i love all your videos, in all of them you do a great job, but this one "outro" is amazing, great job as usual and still so much better than usual 🙂
That outro gave me goosebumps!
I'd been waiting for this part of the story.. and what do I get? 1hr 22min of 'dagnabbit'.
Not disappointed.
Also those intro's get better every time
Holy crap, that outro gave me chills! That had to have taken quite a long time to edit, but it looked absolutely stunning! I always look forward to your vids, and especially can’t wait to see your next video!
Your editing is just AMAGING!!!
I’m so excited to see your LP of the finale! Even more excited to see beyond it!
Thank the Twelve you did them all. The most important thing is to get a better grasp on how the Ancients were. Surprisingly whimsical and sort of innocent in a way, ain't they?
And how prone for tampering their creation magicks are.
See you around Hythlodaeus, my _new old friend_…
Seeing as you've likely made it beyond this point, I still wanted to give a little tip that you can obtain some certain goodies from Grenoldt 😉
Are you actually ending this series with the next episode? Or are you going until the end of 5.3 (the 'real' end of the expansion)?
The thing i loved the most about the aumarotarians was their way to discuss things, without being offended. Even tho they are just fictional characters – many people in RL could learn something from it.
I hope to see a reaction/thoughts video from you after beating 5.0 (or maybe after beating 5.3, or even 5.5)
I love the effect you gave to your voice when voicing the Amaurotines. Amaurot is surely my favorite place in the SHB expansion, these little things you added on your playthrough just made it all better. <3
And jesus that outro!! I'm so excited to see the finale and your reaction to it. (And then playing through the remaining patches that will close Shadowbringers MSQ storyline)
I love, just LOVE, those Black Mage intros XD
Well, I dont think the Ancients were aetherial beings, its just what Emet-Selch made them to be like here. There is a short story on the Lodestone that is about Emet-Selch – its not spoilers, dont worry, and gives a small insight into what ancient society was like. Though, if you want to read it, you best wait till you finish 5.0 🙂
Some say that the Convocation of Fourteen, minus one (the one who left), are the inspiration for the Twelve Gods of Eorzea – remember, Nald'Thal is a twin god 😉
I wanted to say something else but your outro blew it away 😀 Maybe I'll remember next time.
In ff14, everyone is an "energy based being" or an "aether based being" since magic replaces physics. There are explanations around it and the sin eater turning and many others somewhere in the game but i won't talk too much about it, i don't remember if it is further in the story or before…
It was told that Lahabrea jumping from body to body, trying hard as he did, not only withered in power but also in mind. The Lahabrea we knew was insane.
That outro I have the chills!
I need that chapter now! hahahaha
Must be an Irish thing. I also jumped off.
I really love your cuts! Such an Epic Outro!!
Finally… I've been waiting for so long to see your reaction to the final part of the Shadowbringers story… before the patch content.
Wait! I had not realized this before! 1:10:36 "The land was blighted, the waters poisoned, and even the wind had ceased to blow." That's FF1's events, and a recurrent concept in the first instalements in general!
When the four elemental crystals (wind, fire, earth and water) were corrupted by darkness, those events occured! In ff1 demons demons known as the four fiends (a concept reocurring in ff4 which seems to be the inspiration for endwalker) cause this with the help of Garland who together become Chaos who is later described as the god of darkness (chaos as opposed to order) in dissidia!
Very interested to see your playthrough but I was behind you the whole time. Luckily I caught up to 5.5 recently. Now I can go back and rewatch your playthrough, really like your style and the various voices you do
I love how perceptive you are. One thing I didn't notice until you mentioned it before despite having played through and watching over a half dozen other playthroughs, is that they do very heavily imply that the planet/star was called Zodiark in those times (as opposed to it being called Hydelyn in our times). I'm wondering about the implications of that in light of all that we know.
Holy shit am I hyped for the finale. How long did it take you to grab all those clips for that outro because damn was it worth it.
oh, loved the octopath traveler music in the intro, and as always the intro and outro were both incredible <3 got those goosebumps on the outro. super excited for the finale!!!
Dude, even having played the game and watched people complete 5.0, your editing of the ending gave me chills. Awesome dude.
Nice Octopath Traveler music in the intro
Godsdamnit Lucron, that outro nearly made me cry!! I can't believe we're reaching the end of the base shb expac next episode… a pre-emptive, (or belated, depending on how you wanna look at it) congrats on beating 5.0! I've enjoyed watching many people's reactions to shadowbringers but your journey has easily been my favourite. The care you put into every video is tangible and your hard work has seriously paid off. Make sure you take a break after this, I'm sure we all agree you deserve one!
34:00 nice edit 👌
the finale? surely you will keep going with the patches? pretty please?
Omg that outro!!!! It has been a long journey indeed.
im having goosebumps at that outro
that was beautiful
That outro sequence is absolutely fantastic!
