  1. my current working theory is that the dude that says he heard a crystal and was going after it at the beginning of this raid patch actually heard the crystal evil Lahabrea is sealed in and is going to be possessed by it.

  2. If you hold the control key and press up or down arrow keys you can move the camera. I always position myself lower of the screen to see bosses clearer, makes some mechanics so much easier.

  3. I have never played an MMORPG with so much different genre for each encounters. We now have early 2000s pop metal as a theme and it hits all the right spots with most of us who grew up during those era. To say Soken is talented is an understatement. He is on a whole different level from other MMORPG composers. Also, the fight for the raid has gone up in difficultly and I love it. I recently completed the trial extreme and i hadn't had that much fun since I cleared Thordan ex back in the day. It was chaos but organized.

  4. Those aren't question marks, those are the properties of the spell. It will be reflected in the savage raid a bit more in detail as some are physical/magical and that reacts to the red wall differently

  5. I'm glad I went dps because I was not paying attention during any of abyssos. I was just jamming lol I love rock music and Scream just kicked Footfalls and Fiend down and stole my #1 spot. I was squealing when I realized mid to end of the fight the last theme was a remix of the ascian theme.

As for the story, I'm happy with the Athena villain reveal. I was worried Hestphaistos was gonna be behind eveything. Women and moms are always portrayed as victims or manipulated, and it always annoys me. A similar character is in ff7 and she doesn't get condemned like Athena at all. I love that Ishikawa and Oda striked a good balance of realism and fantasy. MORE EMOTIONALLY DISTANT BUT GOOD FATHERS, PLEASE! 🙏

  6. P8 music is pure masterpiece of Ascian/Lahabrea theme motif

14:34 "Without Shadow" right off the bat. (originally creepy music plays everytime ascians shown themselves in ARR)
15:53 "Thunderer" which plays as ascians battle/boss music (Lahabread's Thancred back in Praetorium also use this track)
16:46 "Shadows Withal" which we known as Akadaemia Anyder BGM. most of people took it as "just random" ascian jazz theme to depict "oh hey, it's ascian related". but actually the place itself has direct lore with Lahabrea himself because back in the day, he was an accomplished scholar unmatched in the field of phantom creation in Akadaemia Anyder.

basically many songs in FF14 tell a story, this one included. and it was beautifully done.

  7. The "question marks" are staves, to indicate that it's magic damage. Important because reflect only works on magic damage, not physical. I'm guessing in the savage there will be physical attacks that won't be reflected to watch out for.

  8. Haven't watched the full video but for the first fight it's not question marks it's a staff meaning a magic spell. The barriers reflect magic that's why the aoe for the circles are blocked but the pools of toxic don't. I also feel for savage it might have a attack that goes through it since it will not be magic so the staffs are a tell for reflect or not.

  9. P7 is one of my favourite bosses that I've fought in FFXIV. I feel like it's going to be like Zodiark; once you learn all of the mechanics, it still won't be easy as you need your wits about you, but dodging everything will make you look badass.

  10. In Greek mythology, Hegemone was a Goddess of plants who represented autumn
Agdistis was the offspring of Zeus and Gaia who had both male and female parts and who castrated themselves and removed their male organ. Where the blood fell grew an almond tree
Don't you just love how gruesome ancient myths can be?
Oh and for added squick, Gaia was Zeus's grandmother, as she and Ouranos were the parents of Chronos who was Zeus's father

  11. What I like about Soken's pieces is really good and apt use of existing songs. The first line is the same as the opener of the asphodelos tier, and they changed it into an entire story entirely.

  12. I am betting Professor Claudien is going to turn out to be The Source shard reincarnation of Erichthonios. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if Athena’s plans/ambitions somehow continue on even with her death, maybe they’ll continue the Pandaemonium and Lahabrea connection with FF2’s Emperor Mateus, who also ended up splitting his soul (like Lahabrea/Hephaistos) in half in order to rule Heaven and Hell after his mortal death. Maybe Athena somehow incorporated/counted on that for her plans. Maybe P9-12 will give us like an “Emperor Athena” fight.

  13. "it's so reminiscent of anime opening theme songs" To me it feels specifically like something that could have been made by (or was made in the style of) Hiroyuki Sawano, just with less…wubs, I guess
