  1. So ff14 held the record for largest video game soundtrack in 2016 with 384 tracks. Masayoshi Soken is credited for 466 tracks on Spotify but the second part of the Shadowbringers soundtrack (84 tracks with some arrangements from nier and FF12: The Zodiac Age) and the Endwalker soundtrack are missing. Which means we should hit 550 tracks pretty soon, if we arent already there yet.

    Why am i saying this? If you truly enjoy the FF14 goodness its hard to run out of something to react because most of it is "pretty good" and there are atleast 100 tracks id consider as "bangers"

  2. What headphones do you use Jesse? I'm looking for a new pair and have no idea what to go for. I'm thinking beyerdynamic 990 pro with an amp (but I've no idea how amps even work). Just want that sweet music quality for my FFXIV gaming and music listening ;-;

  3. I would like you to hear the bozjan southern front themes ”field” and ”battle”. They have the best riff in the game imo and you got a taste of it from this song already. (Also Gangos theme. It’s the same song but totally different feel)

  4. For the follow ups:

    "Gangos theme" is very unique and distinct, and it' a good intro to all Bozja themes 🙂

    Also, Queen Awakens, as you can read in every second comment 😛

  5. "I could listen to this for like an hour"

    And depending on which data center, how off peak time you do this boss fight and how many first timers you bring with you, you MIGHT listen to it for an hour

  6. Ah I'm so glad to hear this reaction! This song is the finale for Save the Queen side story which, as Varizen87 says, takes place in the region known as Bozja in FF14. The other songs I requested way back; Gangos, Wind on the Plains, Blood on the Wind, and The Queen Awakens do have the leitmotif you picked up on but Soken does it slightly differently in each theme.

    If I remember right I had suggested listening to them in order in my original request as well, this is primarily because of the purpose each theme serves! Gangos and Wind on the Plains are both 'field themes' for Bozja zones so as players we listen to them a lot playing through the story. Blood on the Wind is the normal 'combat theme' for both outdoor zones in the story, again something we listen to a lot while playing. The Queen Awakens (and Wrath of the Harrier) are the two original boss themes of the story. As such, hearing how the leitmotif is different in each theme has an impact on players that is hard to describe.

    I hope you will eventually listen to them all so you can compare them!

  7. FFXIV has quite a lot of composers and arrangers working on the music (like with FF7R, KH3, and a few others). Soken is simply the sound director and main composer of FFXIV. So this was arranged by Takafumi Imamura. You've listened to "Landslide" (Titan) and "The Black Wolf Stalks Again" (Emerald Weapon) before; all of these are the works of Imamura. I think you might be able to identify his musical style through these.

  8. This track is genius when you know the lore for the boss.
    Spoiler I guess, but this boss is a 'voidsent', captured in an Allagan machine, and found later by the Garlean Empire in the region of Bozja.
    The song is basically taking leitmotivs from a similar voidsent's song, from the Garlean Empire theme, and from the Bozja theme, and putting them all together in a way that somehow just works fantastically. And I am sure there is more to it that I just cannot hear. For sure there is an allagan theme in there as well, I just cannot place it.

  9. No, far from all of XIV is Soken. Nobuo was actually at the helm of the early 1.0 version of the game (launch that failed hard). Nobuo wasn't in charge anymore for the relaunch and was replaced by his successor Soken. 2.0 of the game still kept an insane amount of ubiquitous or generic themes that they still used everywhere in the story to this date, and they're Uematsu tracks. But yeah otherwise Soken is the main composer and has been since there, with the exception of the ARR (Answers), Heavensward (Dragonsong) and Stormblood (Revolutions) main themes that were still contracted to Uematsu.

  10. I know you said you were a fan of Guilty Gear music, so if you want some recommendations by the same composer but a different series, check out Blazblue. Some big suggestions:

    * Rebellion
    * Catus Carnival
    * Gluttony Fang
    * Black Onslaught
    * SUSANO-O
    * MUST DIE
    * Bullet Dance (and its vocal version, Love So Blue)
    * Marionette Purple
    * Plastic Night
    * X-Matic
    * Walpurgisnacht
    * THE HIGHLANDER

  11. The fun of the fight this song plays during…its very much affected by 2 major points. How many players are in the 'raid' (Casteum Lacus Litore and Dalriada can have as few as like 12 people and still be cleared since the fights scale to player count) and how many people of those participating are using the essence system bozja provides to really ramp up the damage. Everyone pulls out all the stops? The fight could be like 5-7 min. Most people using basic essences if any at all? Easily a 20+ min fight

  12. I’m sure this is probably been said before but if you like baselines. The theme for the mid dungeon boss for EndWalker expansion is right up there. I haven’t seen too many people react to it. I think there’s only been one or two. Also the night time theme for Raz.

  13. I'm so glad you finally got to listen to this! It was the first song I recommended after watching one of your videos, I was hoping you would like it. I had it fresh in my mind because I had recently done this content prior to watching your videos! It doesn't go nearly as hard as this one, but I enjoyed it a lot because it gave me the same vibes as Neo Exdeath's theme from FFXIV.

  14. People have probably already said it, but I would like to formally invite you to try your hand at the game, if you have time and interest. I don't know if you actually play many videogames, but the world of Eorzea is incredibly immersive (at least in my experience) and welcoming. I play on the Crystal Datacenter (NA), but a new Datacenter was recently added for Oceania and this summer there will be new worlds added to Europe and North America, too.

    Also, Archers who reach level 30 and unlock Bard can unlock the ability to play music in game and get access to an electric guitar to play. Just saying.

  15. I have a permanent surprised Pikachu face (combined with many other emotions) whenever I hear new FFXIV themes for the first time because it's just my expectation at this point that they are incredible and/or will mercilessly gut punch me in the feels, and yet I'm still blown away every time. Jesse 1000000% needs to listen to some of the new Endwalker songs!

  16. DUDE DUDE DUDE you gotta hear the theme for the dungeon "Paglth'an." It's called Seven Flames but you'll get better results on YouTube by looking up Paglth'an. Even better if you take thirty seconds to listen to a clip of the song "Smoulder" which is the base game theme that got remixed for the dungeon.

    I've been waiting for Wrath of the Harrier for months and I think you'd love Paglth'an too!

  17. I noticed you've been going hard with the FFVII Remake soundtrack as well. If I could suggest anything from that game… well, it's a short one and probably very overlooked, but it slapped me so intensely my nips got hard. FFVII Remake "Just Desserts." You don't even have to make a reaction video of it if you don't want, just give it a listen. I never like pushing things on others but I'm confident it won't disappoint. It's not nearly extravagant as some of the others you've run into, but it has its own shine. It's good stuff.
