  1. This song is basically a jam session both musically and in terms of in-game lore. It combines the leitmotifs of 3 previous 'stages' in which the lore we discovered in them was used to get us to this point in the game. So it's thematically showing us 'how far we've come' both in the art direction of the 'stage' and in the stages BGM.

  2. The arpeggio you noticed is what mostly gets called the "Crystal Prelude." It's been a part of the Final Fantasy franchise since like 1987, and it turns up a lot in XIV music as a leitmotif.

  3. One thing to keep in mind is this song was performed by Square Enix's in-house band, The Primals. The lead singer of which is also the main English translator Koji Fox whenever they have big announcements/events. They're very passionate about this game and it's always awesome to watch them perform.

  4. So I'm going to have to pay for this one, once I get paid. However there's two I think you would enjoy
Sephirot Theme (Feind) <- this song actually got a bit of press because back in the day Powerman 5000 tried to sue for royalties
    Who Brings the Shadow/Invincible.

  5. Oh boy, do I have recommenDATIONS. Ravana Phase 2: "Unbending Steel", "Metal-Brute Justice Mode" (the live version is better imo), and most importantly "To the Edge", arguably the most important song in the game at this point and one that Soken wrote while undergoing chemotherapy. As a bonus, listening to a bit of the Rak'tika Greatwood theme "Civilizations" and following it up with Soken's live performance titled "La Hee" would be great 😀 Thanks for these reactions, it's feeding my newfound addiction to watching musicians listen to video game tracks!

  6. I love music in FFXIV. This expansion has a lot of electronic sounds and the level of twinning is based on an old level that had the same tune (also a tune which can be heard in older FF games). So this is kind of a remix of that with electronic guitars.
