  1. I guess the difference is that this boss-theme is not for a specific boss but the "default boss theme" of shadowbringers, so to say. ^^ I got the FFXIV Endwalker-Soundtrack as playlist when I'm going for a walk. xD

  2. yo, i was wondering if you are planning to react to the other flor themes from library of ruina?
(there are 10 flors total and you did 4, so i was wondering if you would do the 6 others? (your missing: roland, yesod, chesed, netzach, hod and malkuth) aditionaly there are lots of banger songs made for the game too!) so if you werent planning to react to them consider this my request for rolands and yesod's theme flor.

  3. So… you did around 70-80 or more songs from XIV?
    How many's left…. around …. 500? xD

Of course a lot of this is chill background stuff, city music, smaller themes, but they make the game feeling whole.
You never get bored, unless you repeat same stuff over and over and over again ;p

I've played 4000 hours and sometimes I just come back to some kind of content/fight, just to listen to the music (with the context of battle) to fulfill my insatiable hunger for good music 🙂

  4. The song is supposed to have a heavy, sad tone to it. Especially when you know what it is exactly you are fighting. It's also why, after these fights, your characters don't celebrate like other bosses. Instead, they just hang their heads in sadness.

  5. Incase you had a little trouble hearing the lyrics. Its basically part of the main Shadowbringers lyrics

    "The road that we walk
    Is lost in the flood
    Here proud angels bathe in
    Their wages of blood
At this, the world's end, do we cast off tomorrow"

  6. Oh, I actually know what the plate thing is. It's a brake drum from a car, you hit it with a hammer to get that noise. You see them in orchestras from time to time. You can hear one in the Gladiator theme if you know what to listen for. I used to work janitorial at a theater and I remember cleaning backstage and finding it and being like "WTF is this here?", so the percussion guys explained it to me.

  7. Bizarre game is so on point.

This specific one is the generic “final boss” theme as many others have already pointed out. And yea the sad minor tones are all to keep with the game’s theme. This one in particular is about a dying world ruled by the light.

Everything is poisoned by a kind of “angelic but sinister” force and you’re there to tip it back in the other direction (their worlds are all based on balance, and too much of any one element is bad news bears) Heck, If you look up Shadowbringer adverts, it goes on about the Warrior of Darkness. That’s your role, which is like flipping the script, and really cements the whole game’s theme as “Nothing is inherently Good or Evil. Everyone has their reasons for their actions”

Light and dark are just like states of matter to their world. And here in this theme to kind of bring it all together, we are putting a wild over burden creature that has too much Light. It’s a mercy killing.

Anyways sorry bout the ramble, literally just woke and watched this in my notifications. Thanks again Jesse, another delightful review. 😊

  8. There's a couple of fun facts about this song and its Primal variant!

    1. The original version is the theme of almost every last boss in Shadowbringers dungeons. It's calm yet its the most intense out of all dungeon boss themes up to this point in the game.

    2. The Primals variant was not in the game until Patch 5.1. The Primals variant now serves as the music for the first two bosses of the Shadowbringers dungeons.

  9. Soken is most assuredly not on the vocals lol. But the man is a certified genius, and he alongside Uematsu and Mizuta are gods of VGM.

Glad to see someone submitted the original version of the song, at one point they remixed it and replaced the original and I didn't like that iteration as much.

Does anyone know if this piece was done while he was in Hospital as well? The man is a real trooper for continuing to work from the Hospital while fighting cancer god damn.

It's why I'm upset he didn't get any personal recognition at the VGAs (14 never gets nominated for music at all for that matter which is BS)

  10. Hello Uncle Jesse. About the "playing for 4k hours and still jamming along" thing. My personal thought is that people like myself enjoy the experience of listening while thinking of the story behind it. This is why I keep returning to your reactions of "Wrath of the Harrier", "Innocence", "Scream" and "The Black Wolf Stalks again" almost on a daily basis. I like the your reactions to those videos and your comments.
P.S I'd bet something that the experience of Amarout, Mortal Instruments is why some of us regard it so highly.

  11. Jesse saying Soken just finds stuff to make music with and not knowing how right he is.
We have to get him to listen to Soken on Cardboard Box and Child's Piano from Fanfest 2016. A Masterpiece.

  12. A couple tracks you haven't done yet but are highly recommended: "In the Balance", "Radiance", "Pilgrimage" (those three are from the same raid", "Battle with the Four Fiends (Buried Memory", "Trojan Beauty", "Hippo Riding" and "The Map Unfolds". All of these are from the recent couple patches in FFXIV.

  13. This is a "boss theme" song and whenever this song play on stream the whole stream spam WE FALL WE FALL during the chorus. It's also spammed when the streamer dies or when they fall of the ledge 😂. I really enjoy it as it's chill to repeat yet complex enough to repeat ad you die repeatedly to a boss ☺️.

  14. "Insatiable" itself refers to an inability to be satisfied. No matter how much you eat or drink, you crave more. As for the context of the boss theme, this is the "generic" boss theme for Shadowbringers. Anything that shows up in a dungeon and doesn't get its own encounter that is nothing but the fight in Shadowbringers gets this theme. Also, a bit of a remark on the boss looking like Venom, you're not too far off. Antivenom uses much of the same color scheme and has a lot of similarities in the face, but a lot of people like to draw Kingdom Hearts comparisons because Nomura designed a lot of the bosses in Shadowbringers and brought a lot of the design philosophy of enemies in Kingdom Hearts (specifically Nobodies) to the bosses here, with the chain of diamonds being a specific thing that is a favorite motif of Nomura's.

  15. the vocal lines "the road that we walk……." are also in the shadowbringers trailer song it plays in a lot of songs in the shadowbringers soundtrack. Also this is the theme that plays during the final boss for all the shadowbringers dungeons which is why it doesnt have the big dramatic sound of the trial fights
