  1. This is exactly why i only speak to FC members. I know i can try to give advice w/o getting almost banned. Also, arent the NPC assisted dungeons an option for those not suited to run w others?

  2. If people are physically impaired to the point that they can't manage to push a button whose purpose is laid you in the tutorial while they complete the last dungeon 700 hours in, then they should stick to trusts. My time isn't worthless but no one else will protect its value but me.
Sure, there are handicapped players, but hitting more than a single enemy at a time isn't effected. The person asking him to push the AOE button was well within his rights to do so. He was a summoner and there is no way he was only hitting one target.

Again, this dungeon is at the end of the current 10 year arc. It is impossible to get there and not be able to handle tutorial actions and no one should be overly patient with that.

  3. I mean that's fine, everyone deals with conflict in different ways. For me, I don't think there's anything wrong with politely saying something. Especially like in Mane Tank's case where the tank is literally not doing the most basic aspect of their job of keeping aggro. I agree though that if people can't be assed to press 2 buttons to do aoe and will try to argue with you about it, it's a lost cause at that point and there's no use trying to argue about it. At that point, I'd just leave. But my point is, I also don't think he was wrong to say something because it was literally affecting his ability to play the game because summoner is juse aoe heavy naturally and he was getting hit by enemies and dying. And that's completely fair and valid to go into a 90 dungeon and expect a tank to take aggro.

My hot take on this whole thing is that Square Enix and xiv devs are long overdue for making an actual tutorial (hall of the novice is hot garbage) and then actually giving meaningful consequences when people are actively griefing by not doing the most basic part of their role in a team-based game. Because that's what it is. If a healer doesn't heal ever and people are constantly dying because of it, it's griefing. If a tank does not tank enemies, they are griefing, simple as. Like you said, not much you can do beside just deal with it and move on, but it's a bit ridiculous that we're going to reach the triple digit levels in dawntrail soon, and some people are going to hit level 100 and still act like it's elitist or unreasonable to ask people to press 2 buttons to use aoe in a max level dungeon. It's just completely ridiculous, it's embarrassing. What a complete joke of a game.

Maybe the tank job skipped up to EW. Okay. But they still need to have completed the EW MSQ to get to there, with all the leveling dungeons. It's not my problem if people don't know how to do the most basic functions of their job. It's not my job, (or yours) to deal with them and teach them how to play at a point when they should know better, it's square enix's job to have that not happen in the first place. It's been a long standing issue and pet peeve of mine in this game, and they should do something about it because it's been long overdue, because this kind of shit keeps happening every few months, every few weeks, for the last several years. I've literally had drafts in the google docs considering making a video about it since shadowbringers because its such a longstanding issue.

If you read this far, I just want to reiterate my point. When you have to deal with stupid shit like this, your only real choices are basically just "deal with it" or "leave." What I'm saying though, is that those two choices shouldn't be happening at all, because this entire situation is something that shouldn't be happening at all if SE ran the game properly so that griefers are not constantly being put into groups with people who just want to play the game. Trusts exist for a reason. If people are going to be shitty, then don't let them play with other people. Simple as that. Of course, the devs don't want to rock the boat though because griefers and shitters still pay a sub and give them money. So nothing's going to change. Just don't forget that the reason we're in this mess in the first place though isn't just because of shitty players, it's because squeenix refuses to do anything about them over the course of the years this game has been out because it's more profitable to keep them around.

  4. I don't understand why we can't have difficulty sliders. No, not every content needs to be faceroll easy. It's absurd that 90% of the content is like that now along with boring jobs.

  5. The problem here is IRL situations are free to interact or avoid with "Karen's". FFXIV is not a free-2-play game, and if I see a problem, or a way another player can improve, I'm going to let them know in a nice way. It's their problem if they take what I say is wrong.

  6. Not knowing the full context of the situation, either vote to kick or abandon are always options. Expert dungeons are not tough, but they can be difficult for someone learning their job. If I were healing would just let the tank eat it, and vote to kick or abandon if they aren't good with feedback. The funny part is I had a healer drop when we wiped on first trash in Expert, the tank had already apologized and said they forgot their mids. We killled the mobs to the boss while waiting for a new healer and they were just fine controlling the mobs and controlling damage. The rest of the dungeon was fine with no problems. Sometimes people stop playing for a while and then need to reconnect when they play again.

  7. I'm with you Cole. Sometimes I have the patience to try and talk with other players to figure out what's going on, but sometimes I don't and instead I choose to just remove myself from the situation. There's nothing wrong with that.

  8. seen the samurai's vid, his points while wrong, he just wanna get it done, understood

and even xenos and many others reactes like you, its no biggie, just get on or leave

    but impaired or not
    there are also other options

while true that people say its imposible to not know aoe in end game dungeon, maybe so…, but there is still this possibility of buying max level and be a sprout tank

about the chat log, people could miss it or dismiss it becoz of ui

its not a good situation, but yea, there are many other more reasons

i just dont get why the sam defends the tank, its not like the smn said it in a condescending way when ask tank to use aoe

  9. Leaving a dungeon is always an option, true – but not if you get a penalty and cant do any other duty for 30 minutes. And since we can all agree that our time is limited, leaving a duty isnt an option.

4:45 — I agree with you, but then it would make even more sense to use aoe skills: clicking a 1-2 combo that doesnt even require you to face or target anything is way more relaxed that doing a single target rotation while circling through mobs. So lets not make silly what-if excuses here: if the tank was really sick or something, he shouldnt have tanked to begin with. Starting 2023, I was very ill, too, and what did I do? I crafted. I ran around, gathered crafting material for housing. And I would've never joined a group of randoms, wasting their time. This is a MMO, its a team game.

    Who is a fault here?
It doesnt matter anymore. The tank may have been the cause, but the SAM made everything worse when he blew his cover of anonymity and made a youtube-reaction to the forum post, painting himself in a far worse light than this little exchange. Go watch it, its rather entertaining. Unless you value your time that is 😛

  10. thank you, finally someone is saying this.

there was nothing wrong with Mane's interactions, but a lot of the responses to that post have made me uncomfortable. of course the samurai in that dungeon was rude, and of course it would have been better if the tank had communicated in some way. BUT from the responses im getting the impression people are not even considering that someone with difficulties of any kind could be playing this game. its wild. i never go into NORMAL content, normal dungeons & assume i know what the other players are dealing with. "but an aoe is just one button" sure but its a separate rotation, what if they can only manage to reach their single targets and just havent figured out a quality of life set up for aoes?

my general expectations for a tank are the same as anyone else, but that doesnt mean im not going to consider the fact that theres probably many people playing this game and other games that have difficulties one way or another. griefing is an entirely different thing, which i dont defend, and unless the tank speaks up, people are just assuming things about them and being toxic toward them for no reason. this did not need to be drama, because now a load of people online might take this as fuel to be rude to someone.

the fact is when i go into normal content, my expectations are drastically lowered because this is stuff meant for anyone. anything could happen. if theres someone in your party that isnt performing their job, just vote kick or leave, but never assume no one can be having a hard time just because "its just 2 buttons, its a normal dungeon"

  11. i just saw Desperius video about that and almost lost it when he said "just play tank".

yeah no shit Sherlock. and than you get cure 1 spamming whitemages.
    "than just play healer yourself"
and now we have dps that stand in fire and tanks that dont know what mitigation is.

im all for being nice to sprouts and helping players getting familiar with their new jobs.
    BUT NOT IN LV90 CONTENT!
you dont get to play the victim in lv90 stuff.
ppl had 90 levels to figure out their jobs.
nobody's even saying they should play perfect, all thats expected is adequate.
and not using aoes in lv90 dungeons is a disgrace.
and dont even come at me with disabilities – they had 90 levels and around 150 fights to figure out how to play the game. hell you could play it with 1 finger per hand and still be an ok player. theres ppl out there doing frickin ultimates on guitar hero controllers or still clicking through their skills.

  12. Yep, when I find myself in a dungeon or trial where I feel my time is being wasted or I'm frustrated I just leave immediately. There are plenty of other things I can do during the 30min timeout. It's the same as If I was playing a solo RPG. Stuck on a boss I can't get past? I take a break and come back later. Some people need to learn to walk away sooner before they blow up at people.

  13. Asking a tank is not a bad ting to do, under any circumstances. No matter what that person is going through. Its a multiplayer game and especially expert is a multiplayer experience. The mos basic of basic is communicating. No excuse to be toxic about a simple question or suggestion.

  14. I agree about peacing out rather than dealing with hostility and arguing back and forth in a situation like this and getting riled up. That said, it's perfectly reasonable to ask a tank to please use AoEs to manage aggro. In an endgame dungeon, no less. There is nothing rude about asking in the first place.

Also, i gotta be honest… saying that this tank could have been playing really badly because they're a child or disabled smells a bit like bigotry of low expectations to me. I have savage raided with people with a range of disabilities and one time with a person who was recovering from surgery. Just feels weird to me to see a situation where someone is playing really badly and jump to "but what if they're disabled?"

If someone cannot press two aoe buttons in a dungeon, then there's a whole mode called Duty Support where they can do that all day and not bother anyone else.

  15. ok, hear me out. no joke. I just played with a level 50 tank who refused to use his tank stance. no communication, he still run ahead and use ability and rotation. but no tank stance. its like playing Dungeon extreme.

  16. I have THE solution that would fix A LOT of things but everyone seems "meh" about.

Remove AoE abilities. Make all single target abilities do AoE damage.

    Fixes:

    1. Stuff like this
    2. Hotbar real estate
    3. Boring ass dungeon runs mostly being remedial AE rotations
    4. Gives casuals more experience with their single target rotation and allow them to perfect it.

I'd 100% rather do my single target rotation only during a dungeon. This is the future to prevent all of that stuff and stop the dumbing down of jobs.

  18. Only the elites are causing the drama. The casuals don’t even know what’s happening and getting yelled at for no reason.

Then again, Tanks are going to get hate; if not from the mobs then from the members.

    The cycle never ends.
