  1. First, love ur video and thank you for the great reaction. To answer ur questions. Fighting this boss for the first time as a blast although track did cause my death in the fight more then once. To give my feedback on what to call this the genre of music, its " a good time". Thanks again and I look forward to your future success.

  2. I love how at the beginning all the vocals were muffled, but once the monster within broke through his layers of flesh, the vocals became clear. This soundtrack is a work of art, timed so that the song transitions with the fight's phase transitions at minimum item level.

  3. My experience with this boss was non stop crying. From this point to the end of the expansion, its about 3~ hours. The cut scenes following this trial specifically took my heart and spat on it after stepping on it.

  4. Not sure if it has been mentioned or if I even mentioned it before in one of your videos comment sections, but Soken is in Guinness world Records for composing the most original songs in a video game with a total of 384 songs in XIV.

  5. The fight is called Innocence because the boss is a man who was, not only magically modified in the womb to be a literal demi god, but even more so raised to be a megalomaniac, messianic ruler. He 100%, truly believes himself to be an immaculate, godly king who can never do anything wrong (hence also 'Crown of the Immaculate'), despite the fact that he is actually an extremely evil and selfish antagonist throughout the story. And then in the middle of the fight, the story turns the "evil = ugly" trope on its head, and has him transform into how he sees himself. He presents himself as a beautiful and righteous angel, but those qualities are twisted, a delusion and a façade for his ugly soul. In the end, his story is a sad one, because you discover his origin, and how, for all his atrocities, he is kind of a victim too, because it was others who decided to shape him into a literal and figurative monster before he was even born.

  6. Hey, Uncle Jesse! New listener and subscriber! Found you a couple days back and I love seeing you go through the XIV soundtracks and fall in love with them just like we did!

I know you love the wide variety of genres that XIV has in terms of music, so I think another genre might be fun to add to the mix! I think you'd like "Good King Moggle Mog XII".

  7. If only 500 hours would be enough… I spent 1500 hours in t his game and still keep going strong. Generally the bosses are challenging but not too hard as this one in particular is a boss you have to beat for the story to progress. My experience was just "OH NO HES HOT". Just the whole package of the fight, the transition, the buildup to that fight everything is a massive work of art.

  8. My favorite part of your reactions is that you look at the whole overall process and the feelings they want to convey and inspire from an art perspective. If you play many of these fights/games without music it's visually impressive but it's not the amazing experience it is without the music, full stop.

  9. Innocence is more about the nature of the boss. He is really a bad guy but the way he behave and thinks is kind of "Innocence" in a way. Or that is the way I thought about it :p
Also the fight is not one of the harders but it is a nice fight and the setup and music are great for the fight

  10. There is a palpable shift in genre between Pre-Shadowbringers, which was composed by Uematsu, and Shadowbringers, which is Soken. Uematsu is all about the big sweeping orchestral landscapes and operatic vocals. Soken is rock 'n roll and experimental fusion.

And the Nier raids are their own thing. If you listen to any more music from Puppet's Bunker, The Copied Factory, or Tower at Paradigm's Breach, that is music originally from the Nier and Drakengard games remixed for FFXIV. Very distinct from the game's other tracks.

  11. Awesome! So glad you finally got to react to this song Jesse. It is one of my top 5 (like 2 haha) favorite FF14 pieces. I listen to it way to much lol. It’s just an exquisite song!

  12. Since you did some Nier Automata music I'm surprised you havent done "Bipolar Nightmare" yet. Also make sure to check out "Amusement Park" from the same game which is very cool and haunting. Honestly you could easily just go through the entire soundtrack and not find a bad song.

  13. My experience with Innocence was a pretty wild one, because it comes off a seriously hype set of story and dungeon right before it, all coming together into this fight with the music playing. Then after it is a moment I don't wanna spoil. Most of the time, the music videos are the "story" version of the fight, so it's a fair bit easy relative to the "extreme" or "savage" versions. However, Innocence Extreme was honestly a fairly easy (but really fun!) fight.

The name "Insanity" is related to the boss itself, which becomes fairly obvious from the first moment you actually meet them in the story, in a very good way.

  14. This boss theme is basically a remix of another song that plays a bunch during this expansion. I'm not sure what that song is called though sorry, but it's a much slower song than this.

Also I don't think you can get to this point in the game in only 500 hours without boosting.

  15. Innocence is the "leader" of a Faction of enemies called "sin eaters" – While Voidsent are inlore beings of primordial darkness, Sin Eaters only appear in worlds where light is overflowing – FF14 Shadowbringers sends us into a Shard / World, where the player has to restore the balance in a world that is full of light.

Innocence (the angel) basically is their leader and the evolution of Vaugthry who was a hybrid of human and sin eater – As he sees himself as the most pure and pristine being he dubs himself Innocence – I love their naming scheme "Forgiven" + an additional name – such as "Forgiven Hypocricy", "Forgiven Ignorance" and so on.

Experience with Innocence – Hated him hin the Mainstory, loved the fight, unfortunately a little bit on the easier side

  16. That's the normal mode of Innocence. There's a harder version that we farm for mounts. The Fat Guy is Lord Vauthry who is a main villain, but a lot of the theme here involves his ascendance. Innocence is also his Light Warden title as all the Light Wardens have a Latin name for one of the types of love. Innocence is the love you have for your children.

Also, part of what you say is Genreless is trying to capture a gospel sound.

  17. This along with Return to Oblivion is tied for my favorite song in the game. This is such an incredible song. Occasionally I jump into extreme parties for this boss just to jam to it while playing even though I don't really need anything from it anymore.

  18. Unsure if this has been recommended before, but Rise is the final song from the Alexander series. It also has a remix from the Pulse album and I definitely recommend listening to both back to back to see how they made the same song two different ways

  19. "The road that we walk, is lost in the flood, here proud angels bathe in their wages of blood. At this the world's end, do we cast off tomorrow." (For whom weeps the storm, her tears on our skin) those are the lyrics repeated in most songs from the FFXIV Shadowbringers Expac and I think this song uses them the best lol

  20. This boss isn't particularly hard, per se. It's a lot of area-of-effect dodging, and he summons a bunch of minions in the first phase. He has an ability that mind controls players that you need to stand in an a certain safe spot, seen at 2:402:49. There's also a damage check about midway through the second phase which you see starting at about 6:50. He summons a bunch of minions that you have to kill in a certain order or the big damage blast you see at 7:58 instantly kills the entire group. He has an attack where everyone needs to be as far away as possible from him – you see it at 9:07 – or it does a lot of damage. And again, more areas of effect. A note about AoE spells here: getting hit by one isn't usually lsn't lethal, but you do get a debuff that ups your damage taken, and that can add up real fast.

But all in all the story trial of Innocence – which this video shows – isn't terribly complicated compared to say, the Extreme version of this fight or say, Shinryu, which you've reacted to already. Or the actual, proper raid bosses. This is a story trial, which is usually only complicated enough to give you an idea of what the raid version will be like (Shinryu was an exception- it was an absolute bastard of a fight when it was new, and still trips groups up. Watch Larryzaur's blind run of it to get an idea). By this point in the game, you're pretty well used to whatever this fight throws at you.

I'd check out the version of this with the voice acting in it. The voice actor for Innocence absolutely BELLOWS every line, and it's glorious. You don't need to react to it, just watch it.

  21. you talk about genre and I just call it 14 or soken. For piano I like FFXIV OST Easter Theme ( Papaya ) { but pair it with FFXIV OST Easter Theme ( Papaya ) to understand the madness that is 14 music} and "What Angel Wakes Me" with Official Lyrics (Titania Theme) | Final Fantasy XIV

  22. You asked about the experience with this boss. On release, the boss was decently tough, but nowadays he's not considered much of an issue. There's a harder version of the fight, called the "Extreme" version that is a bit rougher. The same is true of most of the boss battles in the game, whether they're considered trials or raids, they usually have an optional harder version of the fight available that adds new mechanics and/or phases to make things harder.
