  1. Basically, play the job you enjoy. Try out other stuff if you doubt what you are doing is the best.
Each role (tank, dps, heals) has all the fine details to maximize the role and how the role can optimize the group.

  2. Not going to lie, I'm a little surprised this is going live on the same day we're getting the live letter going over the job changes for EW. Glad to still have you with us though, the game needs all the great tanks it can get.

  3. Far from being high skill level player, I think closer to bottom; but from your reasons, I feel Ninja would've been the more likely to be satisfying for you. Though it still has its rigidity with some stuff, it is the dps that gives me more of a feel of having some flexibility. Whether or not that's true, however, is another matter, as my level of skill/knowledge hasn't led me yet to take advantage of it, so it may be an illusion. Also, I play DPS much more than tanks, so it's not like I have a real grasp of how far the tank's versatility gets.

  4. Too bad you didn't get the frustration of playing MNK.

Uptime on MNK is the challenging aspect of the job. Keeping track of their buff and dot and positionals while dodging mechanics and keeping uptime…. Fun!

Plus they do provide a bit of utility.

Glad you are sticking to WAR. My favourite next to BNB and PLD.

  5. I can agree that playing a dps for a prog can be rather dull over a tank as mentioned. You really can't do much as a drg when there is a potential wipe scenario over a tank or a healer, more to do overall and as a good player it could be fun to check the possibilities or just save a run even though you already had 20 deaths.

  6. I always encourage people to play what they want. A player at your caliber will always be fine. Hopefully you will still do tanking and dps and give us content from both perspectives.

I think your community would enjoy seeing as many perspectives as you can produce given your quality of information is so high.

  7. I've played WAR since 2.2 and ShB made me quit it. None of the tanks clicked with me anymore, I did a year-long break and I'm suddenly loving GNB now and WAR feels decent tho… but ultimately i'll be playing Reaper and trying out DPS for a change. Although i'll tank and heal couse every role is fun in its way.

  8. Having the most fun you can have is ultimately the most important part of the game. If dps doesn't do that for you as well as tanking does, then be a tank. Who know, maybe you'll be reinvigorated to play WAR at 90 when we get the Savage raids in EW.

  9. I started as a Marauder/Warrior tank main ever since I started. Ive found that i have much more fun when I play a tank than I do when I play my Dragoon. And I’ve put HOURS into my Dragoon but for the life of me I just dont enjoy it like i do my Warrior or Gunbreaker

  10. Honestly DPS gets a free ride through almost all content in this game until savage anyway because tanks and heals carry dungeons and trials anyway. But if you wanna try out a main dps, Red Mage is pretty fun for prog.

  11. Sticking with BRD all the way, I love it because while you have your skill priority and your standard rotation of going from "This song, to this song, to that song". You have your procs to make each pull different, tracking a 3 second dot timer in your head, keeping oGCD windows open for anticipated procs, and playing this way makes you more creative every pull against every fight. I wish the song buffs were able to be balanced to be useful but not overwhelming which I think is impossible.

  12. yeah i was a drk / blm main for years especially when i saw your old video . that reaper job looks too refreshing and fits the dark vibe i like, so if it looks good tonight when they go in depth, i’ll main it .

  13. Honestly, everyone is different. There's a guy I raid with that mains SAM cuz he has enough stuff to survive in some fights keeping aggro if the tanks die. It's also a class he really enjoys (and the big numbers aren't bad either).
I'm relatively easy to please so I've found unless I enjoy in all roles (and even though originally wanted to heal I've found myself main tanking and really enjoy it).

It's all about finding what you love and finding people who don't care about what's "best" if your favorite isn't what's "best".

  14. I don't really like tanking that much, but that's the part of a fantasy MMO. Everyone has things they do or don't enjoy. Optimizing DPS in an encounter is good dopamine. Even with healing it feels good

  15. Dancer or Astrologian are the only ones I see potentially providing what you need. Dancer is usually nice to have in a group overall, but there are times where a well times curling waltz can stop a wipe. I have chosen it as my main for that reason, but I have to say you won't see the full potential unless you do level 80 content with it and RNG is on your side with feathers. Astrologian is definitely a must, I can't see that not working out well.

  16. As a WAR main myself I totally fell u bro (pun intended), i like to play on monk sometimes but feels like I'm doing nothing to help the team clear faster
Glad you choose to stay with us the masochists

  17. TLDR:
Tanking is my favorite play style.
    Dps isn’t tanking.
So I swapped back to tank.

Love your content and am glad you stuck true to what you enjoy, while still giving the other side a chance!

  19. I'm fairly new to the channel, so I'll have to go back and watch the rest of the mini series, but the way you feel about Warrior is ironically the way I feel about playing Dragoon

I find a lot of utility when playing as my Goon, passing off a buff to another player I feel is contributing well or even perhaps another tank should a melee not be available (sorry, my main experience is with ranged, and not very often they're close enough to utilise my buff)

Having feint is one option, as is Second Wind, but there's also Blood Bath and Life Strike which when well timed or just use in proper practise can really reduce the need for heals

Evasive Jump can be amazing when used well or even holding a Spineshatter Dive off on the rotation just because you know a Knockback is coming can really make a good comeback into a rotation too, there's also Double Life combo among other factors

So honestly I completely understand your feelings towards playing warrior, I share the same love as mentioned for gooning

Sorry for the essay and random spurts, but yeah man, good luck with Warrior and glad you got it all figured out

As for now – time to watch the rest of the mini series!
    Have a beautiful day!

  20. I totally feel it with the lack of utility daily. I harp on about it over and over but not having dismantle/the vuln up with old MCH, or even things like Palisade or stuff on RDM like Erase…it's just a shame to not have options that can really come in clutch but only if you know how to use them(considering not a lot of people used Diversion though, that's just how bad the general pug experience is).
Your identity as Warrior though is like me with Machinist…it's fun to try other things but safe to say we probably found our main mains for awhile. I just appreciate that if there's ever a time where we wanna experiment, FF14 lets you do so freely with the job change system.
