  1. the auto target only works as long as you don't have anything targeted. as a healer, whenever you have a friendly target targeted, it WILL NOT work (and it's a shame). so you still have to tap or click or whatever you prefer to target the boss or a mob.

  2. Damn, I got click baited by the thumbnail, I was hoping you'd show us a way to hide green quest icons on the map. 😀
Still, the auto targetting settings were something useful I didn't know about yet, so I guess I learned something useful 🙂

  3. I have played FFXIV for years. Still play on a day 1 retail account. Though I didn't play for more than a few days at release because.. well.. you know the rest.
I've never played for the battle system. That's an inconvenience that I suffer, to allow me to enjoy the other stuff like running around and crafting/gathering etc.
BUT.. The day the actual battles and dungeons etc. became tolerable for me, was the day that I decided to experiment with a 'target forward' action button on my crossbar.
I only really played Archer/Bard for the first few years. Because that was for me the most 'button masher' friendly job. (if it's flashing HIT IT! basically lol)
That target forward button made it so that I could pick and choose targets with much more ease than trying to manually select stuff with left and right or indeed the mouse as you say.

  4. If you play with a controller you can assign macro 98 and 99 to the stick buttons. I have mines set up so my right stick button uses sprint and my left stick will target my focus target (useful for targetting tanks in dungeons or bosses in raids/trials).

  6. If you put <se.1> in the party chat, every member will hear a sound effect. Change the number for different sound effect. Good for getting the tank attention when leveling and they forgot their stance. Just don't spam it too much and makes everyone hate you.

  7. Limited battle effects is for cowards, I have done every alliance raid and really close to finishing the current savage tier as the cutests and strongest lala around plus with battle effects on

  8. I started playing this game in the sprout rush of 2021… And I knew all of these tricks already. Every. Single. One. I love optimising my layout, and play around with all the settings.

  9. Related to turning down the battle effects, there's a graphics setting I recommend turning off: Radial Blur. It's that annoying distortion effect on some spells like RDM Impact and BLM Fire IV that momentarily blurs everything to make the effect look more intense. I was getting frequent headaches while playing years ago, but the moment I turned this off, the headaches stopped.

  10. Limited battle effects all the way!!
I played up to Shadowbringers with full effects on and it was fine, but once you get to the lvl90 raids, it's literally mandatory.
My first case was in Aglaia when I literally could not see the boss hitbox to find the safe spots and do positionals, true nightmares and highly recommended to limit them, so you at least see yours. 🙂

  12. I Did not know about the target part,
My mouse randomly clicks off bosses all the time!
(I didn't know there are FPS mice so it is just supper touchy)
This is going to help me quite a lot.
